Radiofrequency instruments such as the resectoscope described here are used in medicine for treating body tissue and in particular for removing or manipulating this tissue. A particular disadvantage of the known instruments is that an irrigation liquid is disturbed by an electrode instrument in such a way that the resulting turbulence limits the view of the operator. The invention makes available an electrode instrument by which this problem is solved. This is achieved by the fact that two electrode casing tubes run from an electrode to the proximal end region of the electrode instrument and each have a respective electrical contact, namely an active contact and a return contact.

A surgical handheld devices are essentially made up of a device body or main body and of a tubular shaft. In the production of known surgical devices, the tubular shafts are welded to the device bodies. A large number of very complex work steps are necessary for this purpose. On account of the high quality demands placed on surgical handheld devices in respect of mechanical stability and sterility, the weld seam has to meet the most stringent requirements. The invention makes available a method for producing a surgical handheld device, which can be used particularly easily and reliably. This is achieved by the fact that at least one device body and at least one tubular shaft of a surgical handheld device are connected to each other with form-fit engagement by hydroforming.

A bipolar electrode instrument for use in a resectoscope and having an elongated shaft section, through which a first conductor extends, which forms a working electrode to which high-frequency current can be applied at the distal end of the electrode instrument, and a second conductor further extending through the shaft section, which forms a counter electrode in the distal end region of the electrode instrument. High-frequency (HF) tools are used in medicine for manipulating body tissue, using an HF resectoscope. For electrical insulation of an electrode from an electrode support, the ends of the electrode are initially guided through ceramic tubes. These ceramic tubes are sensitive in particular to forces transverse to the longitudinal axis of the resectoscope. Disclosed herein is a high-frequency tool that has increased stability with respect to transverse forces. An electrode has two ends, which for establishing a connection to an electrode support are each insertable into a receiving opening of the ends of the electrode support, or positionable in front of the ends. The electrode is contacted in an electrically conductive manner, at least in the area of a receiving opening, with a conductor wire that is guided in the electrode support.

An electrode unit for a medical resectoscope for the electrosurgical resection of tissue in a fluid-filled cavity in a patient includes an elongated rod-shaped electrode shaft which on its distal end has an electrode support and a cutting electrode that is fastened to the electrode support and may be acted on by alternating current. A resectoscope includes an electrode arrangement having at least one electrode and being connected to a contact at a proximal end region of the electrode arrangement; a retaining body mounted on the resectoscope that is movable in the direction of movement of the electrode arrangement and includes an electrode mounting for accommodating the end region of the electrode arrangement; and a cable with a plug body for fixing to the retaining body while making contact with the contacts. The retaining body has a plug receptacle for fixing the plug body by an insertion movement aligned at right angles to the direction of movement of the electrode arrangement. In the position which is reached at the end of the insertion movement, the plug body can be turned into an end position where it is blocked by the plug receptacle against a movement in the opposite direction to the insertion movement.
