The combined pump is a novel pumping system for fluids (liquids, gases) and for multiple-phase mixtures. This combined pump comprises a helical rotor on which a rotodynamic impeller is mounted. The helical rotor and impeller turns without touching inside a helical stator, and this helical rotor/impeller assembly and stator are arranged so that the cavities formed move from the suction toward the discharge. Using the rotodynamic impeller, the combined pump provides a pressurized fluid layer between the helical rotor/impeller assembly and the stator under conditions capable of improving the performances and the reliability of the pump.

This progressing cavity pump includes a helical rotor () mounted to turn inside a helical stator (). The stator () and the rotor () are disposed such that the cavities () formed therebetween move from the inlet () towards the outlet (). In this cavity pump, hydraulic regulation (HR) means are provided for obtaining internal recirculation of the pumped fluid between at least two of the cavities () under conditions capable of performing at least one function selected from: achieving the desired pressure distribution along the pump, stabilizing the temperatures, controlling the leakage flow rates, and compensating for the volumes of compressed gas.

A cell for pumping a multiphase effluent includes two rotary parts ( ), the first one ( ) having a hydraulic wheel designed for transmitting kinetic energy to each of the multiphase effluent phases entering cell ( ), and the second one ( ), following the first, being an energy converting device designed for homogenizing the phases, transferring kinetic energy between the phases, entraining the lightest phase, converting kinetic energy into pressure and compressing the homogeneous effluent before it leaves the cell. Multiphase fluid pumping or compression device comprising at least one group of blades (Gj) including for example a first (A.sub.1j) and a second (A.sub.2j) blade of tandem design whose geometric characteristics are determined to optimize the compression or the pumping of a multiphase fluid comprising at least one liquid phase and at least one gas phase.

The invention is a device for providing one of compressing and pumping of a multiphase fluid including at least one liquid phase and at least one gaseous phase. The device includes at least one hollow casing having at least one inlet port and at least one outlet port for the fluid. At least one rotor is rotated and mounted inside the casing having an axis OX in a hub. The at least one rotor comprises at least one impeller or at least one diffuser having at least two vanes G.sub.j having a first blade A.sub.1j and a second blade A.sub.2j wherein geometric characteristics and position of at least one of the first blade A.sub.1j and at least one second blade A.sub.2j in relation to each other is determined according to at least one parameter.
