The invention relates to an uncooled furnace roll () for transporting continuously cast material from a continuous casting facility, and to a method for the production of such a furnace roll. The furnace roll () comprises a cylindrical roll body (), conical end pieces () being attached to the end faces () of the roll body. Inside the furnace roll () a hollow space () is provided in the region of the roll body () and/or in the region of at least one conical end piece, said hollow space being sealed off from the atmosphere (A) and being placed under vacuum.

Uncooled furnace roll and method for producing an uncooled furnace roll

A method for producing a metal strip () by casting and rolling, wherein first a slab () is cast in a caster () by dispensing metal from a mold (), wherein the slab () is deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction in the region of a strand guide (), wherein the slab () is then tempered in a furnace (), wherein the slab () is rolled in a rolling train () after the furnace () and wherein the slab () is processed either in discontinuous batch operation or in continuous or semi-continuous operation in dependence on a specified manner of operation. According to the invention, in order to create optimal process conditions for all desired operating modes, the slab () to be rolled or the metal strip () being rolled is subjected to heating in the region of the rolling train () at least between two roll stands () by means of an inductor ().

Method for producing a metal strip by casting and rolling

A method for hot rolling a metal strip or metal sheet, wherein 1.a) the slab or the strip or sheet is subjected in a first step to one or more reshaping actions in a hot rolling mill for producing a uniform, fine, recrystallised austenite structure and 2) the slab or the strip or sheet is then subjected in a second step to cooling for producing a fine-grain structure. The slab or the strip or sheet is subjected to heating between at least two roll stands of the hot rolling mill during performance of the step 1.a). The roll stands are arranged to follow one another in a rolling direction and in each of which the slab or the strip or sheet is subjected to reshaping. A heater for heating the rolling stock is arranged between at least two of the roll stands.

Method for hot rolling a metal slab, strip or sheet

A method and a device for improving the outer surface quality by an in-line outer surface treatment of slabs, which are produced in a continuous process from strand casting to hot rolling, with a heating furnace arranged between a CSP-casting machine and a hot rolling train. A defined surface of the slab with a layer thickness per slab side of up to 4 mm is oxidized in a targeted manner by an oxidation device. An oxidation treatment of the slab surface is combined with the following processing in-line method steps: prior to the oxidation treatment the outer surface of the slab is freed of naturally occurring scale by a scale washer, after the oxidation treatment a created oxidation layer as well as the newly formed scale is cooled, mechanically broken up in a roll pair and removed from the surface of the slab by a scale washer.

Method and device for in-line surface treatment of slabs

A method for the continuous casting of thin metal strip in a continuous casting installation, in which metal is discharged vertically downward from a mold, the metal strip is deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction, and the metal strip is supported and/or conveyed and/or plastically deformed by a number of pairs of drive rolls. At least one pair of drive rolls plastically deforms the metal strip without significantly changing the mean thickness of the metal strip, namely with a change in the mean thickness of the metal strip of less than 5%, such that the deformation in the pairs of drive rolls produces material flow exclusively in the direction transverse to the direction of conveyance of the metal strip.
