Embodiments include methods for a user equipment (UE) to transmit uplink (UL) data in a wireless network based on carrier aggregation (CA). Such methods include determining active UL bandwidth parts (BWPs) associated with at least two component carriers (CCs) within a frequency band; and determining at least one UL transmit direct current (TX DC) location for the active UL BWPs. Such methods also include selectively sending an indication of the at least one UL TX DC location to the wireless network. In some cases, such methods include transmitting, to the wireless network via the active UL BWPs, data arranged in at least one OFDM symbol having the respective at least one UL TX DC location. Other embodiments include complementary methods for a wireless network (e.g., one or more network nodes), as well as UEs and wireless networks configured to perform such methods.

Direct current (DC) location reporting for intra-band uplink carrier aggregation (CA)

An extended power class for Uplink (UL) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) communications is provided. In this regard, a User Equipment (UE) configured to UL MIMO can indicate support for a first power class corresponding to a first power level. The UE can transmit a single layer Physical UL Shared Channel (PUSCH) on one antenna port at a power that is at most a first power level corresponding to the first power class. The UE can also transmit an N-layer PUSCH on N antenna ports at a second power level greater than the first power level. With the extended power class, UEs are able to deliver higher power signals without increasing the maximum power of their Power Amplifiers (PAs). This greater power can lead to better user experience, less battery drain, and higher network capacity.

Extended power class for uplink (UL) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications

A method of operating a user equipment, UE, that is served by a radio access network, RAN, includes determining an uplink duty cycle for uplink transmission by the UE to the RAN, and selecting a peak uplink power level in response to the determined uplink duty cycle. A method of operating a UE according to some embodiments that communicates with a RAN via a plurality of component carriers includes determining an aggregate uplink duty cycle based on scheduled uplink time intervals across the plurality of component carriers, and selecting a peak uplink transmission power level for transmitting uplink signals on the plurality of component carriers in response to the determined aggregate uplink duty cycle. Related devices are also disclosed.

Variable duty cycle for power control

According to certain embodiments, a method by a wireless device is provided for determining a maximum output power. The method includes obtaining, by the wireless device, a first time resource for transmitting a first signal in βa first cell on a first carrier and a second time resource for transmitting a second signal in a second cell on a second carrier. Based on the first time resource and the second time resource, the maximum output power is 10 determined. The first signal and the second signal are transmitted based on the determined maximum output power.

Systems and methods to derive configured output power with different TTI

A method implemented by a wireless device includes a at least two Universal Subscriber Identity Modules, USIMs, and at least two uplink transmitters, and configured to communicate with a first public mobile network, PLMN, and a second PLMN. First data is transmitted to the first PLMN using a first USIM and the at least two UL Tx and a first power headroom report, PHR, is transmitted to the first PLMN, where the first PHR includes a configured first maximum output power for uplink transmission for the wireless device. Second data is transmitted to the second PLMN using a second USIM and one of the at least two uplink transmitters, and a second PHR is transmitted to the first PLMN. The second PHR has a configured second maximum output power for uplink transmission for the wireless device that is reduced compared to the first maximum output power for uplink transmission.

Power headroom reporting for multiple universal subscriber identity modules

A method, system and apparatus for switching of a transmission between cell groups. According to one aspect of the disclosure, a network node is configured to provide a first cell on a first carrier and to communicate with a wireless device where the first cell is part of a first cell group is provided. The network node includes processing circuitry configured to: receive a transmission from a wireless device after a time period following a switching of a transmission from a second cell being part of a second cell group, the first cell group being different from the second cell group; and determine a timing value corresponding to the time period, the time value being associated at least in part with the second cell group.

According to some embodiments, a method for use in a user equipment (UE) operable to transmit a sounding reference signal (SRS) on a plurality of carriers comprises: obtaining an indication to perform SRS carrier-based switching for a carrier; adapting a parameter for uplink transmit power control in response to the obtained indication; and transmitting an uplink signal using the adapted parameter while meeting at least one predetermined uplink power control requirement. According to some embodiments, a method for use in a network node operable to receive a SRS on a plurality of carriers comprises: sending, to a UE, an indication to perform SRS carrier-based switching for a carrier; and receiving, from the UE, an uplink signal based on the parameter for uplink transmit power control adapted in response to the sent indication, wherein the uplink signal meets at least one uplink power control requirement.

In one embodiment, a method in a wireless device is provided including operating in dual-connectivity with at least two different radio access technologies, RATs, the at least two different RATs including at least a first RAT and a second RAT; determining a first power headroom report, PHR, for the first RAT based at least in part on a WD transmission using the first RAT; determining a second PHR for the second RAT based at least in part on both the WD transmission using the first RAT and the WD transmission using the second RAT; and transmitting based on a received allocation information, the allocation information based at least in part on at least one of the determined first PHR and the determined second PHR.

Power headroom report (PHR) reporting determination

Systems and methods for providing flexible time masks for transmission in a wireless communication system are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a node in a wireless communication system comprises providing, to a wireless device, an indication of a position of a transient period during a time mask, where the position of the transient period is adapted to a clear channel assessment period at the wireless device or the position of the transient period is such that the transient period occurs at least partially during a clear channel assessment period. The time mask defines an OFF period during which a transmitter of the wireless device is to be off, an ON period during which the transmitter of the wireless device is to be on, and the transient period. The transient period is a period during which the transmitter of the wireless device is to ramp-up or ramp-down.

Flexible time masks for listen-before-talk based channel access

A method, network node and wireless device (WD) for adaptation of maximum operational timing difference (MOTD) for intra-band multicarrier operation based on number of independent timing management groups are disclosed. According to one aspect, a process in a network node includes determining a 5 maximum operational time difference parameter based on a number (N) of transmit timing management groups (TMG) configured at a WD. The process also includes operating to receive or transmit at least one of a: signal Sbetween the WD and a first cell and signal Sbetween the WD and a second cell based on the determined MOTD parameter. A method is performed by a wireless device. The method comprises determining a first configured maximum transmit power value (P_cmax1) for transmitting in a first radio access technology (RAT). The P_cmax1 is determined based on one or more transmissions of the first RAT. The method further comprises determining a second configured maximum transmit power value (P_cmax2) for transmitting in a second RAT. The P_cmax2 is determined based on transmissions of both the first RAT and the second RAT. The method further comprises performing a transmission in the first RAT at a power less than or equal to the P_cmax1. The method further comprises performing a transmission in the second RAT at a power less than or equal to the P_cmax2.
