The present invention relates to a method for moving a fluid comprising the steps a. providing a metering head comprising a metering chamber and a displacement element which delimits said metering chamber, b. moving the displacement element in a suction direction from a first position to a second position, wherein a volume of the metering chamber in the second position of the displacement element is greater than a volume of the metering chamber in the first position of the displacement element such that fluid is drawn into the metering chamber via a fluid inlet during a suction stroke, c. moving the displacement element in a pressure direction from the second position to the first position such that fluid is forced out of the metering chamber via a fluid outlet during a pressure stroke. In order to provide a method for moving a fluid or a corresponding metering pump with which a number of the aforementioned disadvantages are prevented without the need for additional components, it is proposed according to the invention that the movement of the displacement element in suction direction during the suction stroke involve at least two changes of direction before the displacement element reaches the second position and/or that the movement of the displacement element in pressure direction during the pressure stroke involve at least two changes of direction before the displacement element reaches the first position.

Metering pump with temporary reversal of direction of the displacement element

The present invention concerns a diaphragm pump comprising a delivery chamber separated from a hydraulic chamber by way of a diaphragm, wherein the delivery chamber is respectively connected to a suction connection and a pressure connection and the hydraulic chamber which can be filled with a working fluid can be acted upon with a pulsating working fluid pressure and the diaphragm can be reciprocated between a pressure position in which the volume of the delivery chamber is smaller and a suction position in which the volume of the delivery chamber is larger. In that arrangement the hydraulic chamber is connected to a working fluid supply by way of a leak replenishment valve, wherein the leak replenishment valve is so designed that when the pressure in the hydraulic chamber in the suction position of the diaphragm is less than a predetermined minimum value pthe leak replenishment valve opens and the hydraulic chamber has an outlet passage which is closed by a pressure limiting valve which is so designed that if the pressure in the hydraulic chamber rises above a predetermined maximum value pthe pressure limiting valve opens and working fluid can leave the hydraulic chamber by way of the outlet valve. To provide a corresponding diaphragm pump which automatically reduces the metering power in the overpressure situation without the use of additional sensors being necessary it is proposed according to the invention that the working fluid supply is arranged in a first and in a second chamber, the two chambers being connected together by way of a first connecting passage.

Diaphragm pump with reduced leak extension in the event of overload

A diaphragm pump includes a pumping chamber, suction and pressure connections, a working chamber filled with a hydraulic fluid, a device for applying an oscillating pressure Pto the hydraulic fluid, and a diaphragm separating the pumping chamber and the working chamber moveable between a pressure stroke position and a suction stroke position. A storage chamber accommodates hydraulic fluid at a pressure P. The storage chamber and the working chamber are connected to each other by a valve having a closing part. The diaphragm cannot move too far beyond the pressure stroke position. The diaphragm is coupled to the closing part so that the valve is opened when the diaphragm moves from the pressure stroke position to a position that is farther from the suction stroke position than the pressure stroke position.
