An example apparatus includes a band to be worn around a limb of a user, an active material carried by the band and a controller to: (1) apply an activation signal to the active material to constrict blood flow in the limb, and (2) reduce the activation signal to allow blood flow in the limb.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide for an apparatus for a device for writing with character stroke sensing. In one instance, the device may include a body, a component for writing disposed substantially lengthwise inside the body, and one or more sensors disposed inside the body, substantially around with the component for writing, to sense deviations of the component for writing from a default position inside the body, in response to a contact of the component for writing with a writing medium. The sensed deviations are used to generate data indicative of character strokes the component for writing imparts on the writing medium. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Apparatus and method to facilitate heat transfer fluid flow are disclosed herein. A flexible tube having first and second ends facilitates a heat transfer fluid to flow from the first end to the second end. Ferromagnetic material encircles at least an outside portion of a length of the flexible tube, and a plurality of coil windings encircles the ferromagnetic material. The flexible tube is to be compressed to reduce an amount of flow of the heat transfer fluid from the first end to the second end by expansion of the ferromagnetic material around the flexible tube, in response to an application of a current to the plurality of coil windings.

An imaging device includes an image receiving surface movably supported within the imaging device and at least one printhead having a plurality of ink jets, each ink jet being configured to eject drops of ink on the image receiving surface. At least one sensing electrode is positioned adjacent the image receiving surface that outputs capacitance signals indicative of a capacitance in a gap between the at least one sensing electrode and image receiving surface that are output to a controller. The imaging device includes a drop mass detection mode of operation in which: at least one ink jet in the plurality of ink jets is actuated to eject drops of ink to form at least one test band on the image receiving surface; the image receiving surface is moved so that the at least one test band of ink is positioned in the gap; the at least one sensing electrode outputs a test band capacitance signal indicative of a capacitance with the at least one test band in the gap; and the controller modifies an operating parameter of the imaging device based on the capacitance indicated by the test band capacitance signal.
