A multi-component fluid composition and concentration sensor system and method. The system can be configured with multiple sensing elements whereby each specifically responds to different combinations and concentrations of multiple fluid component mixtures. Because these responses can be captured and committed to a lookup table during an initial calibration sequence, subsequent measurements of unknown mixtures of the same gases will match known states found in the lookup table and the fluid concentrations can be deduced. The number of sensing elements with unique responses to the fluid mixtures should equal the number of unknown fluids that are active on the sensing surfaces, similar to how solving for multiple variables requires no fewer equations than there are unknowns, i.e. '3 equations and 3 variables.' A reference surface can also be present in the fluid composition and concentration sensor so that the effects measured by the sensing surfaces can be determined against a relevant control that is not sensitive to the active fluids being measured.

Mechanisms for validating the authenticity of an item. A reader device records authentication data that is obscured in a label. The authentication data is provided to a remote authentication server via a network. The reader device receives, from the remote authentication server, an authentication response based on the authentication data. Based at least in part on the authentication response, the reader device displays an indication that identifies whether the item is authentic.

Variations include switched networks included in conformal coatings applied to or connected to components to be protected or encoded. The decoding or security key data is included as part of the network layout and/or switching logic such that physical changes to the network prevent the recovery of the key data. Nodes in the network may include sensors meant to change node or network behavior based on sensor detection results.

Dynamically reconfigurable 2D topology communication and verification scheme

A conformal electro-magnetic (EM) shield and a method of applying such a shield are provided herein as well as variations thereof. Variations include, but are not limited to, frequency-selective shielding, shields containing active and/or passive electronic components, and strippable shields that can easily be applied to and removed from underlying components. Variations of a shield structure include at least an insulating layer between the underling component and the shield, and shielding and/or capping layers disposed over the insulating layer.

Serviceable conformal EM shield

A protective, anti-tamper coating and methods of coating creation and application are provided. The coating may include an elastomeric layer to allow for strippability/removal. The coating may also include a 'smart layer' for tamper detection, imaging prevention, and tamper prevention or underlying device de-activation/alteration upon tamper detection. An ignition device has an addressable ignition source for each cell. This matrix can be used in combination with a projectile guidance system. A method of guiding a projectile can include firing a projectile at a target, tracking the projectile and the target, determining a desired change in a flight path of the projectile, transmitting guidance commands to effect the desired change in the projectile's flight path to the projectile, receiving the guidance commands onboard the projectile and selectively igniting an explosive cell in a matrix of addressable explosive cells contained in a common substrate using the guidance commands.
