An electrode can comprise carbon black and one of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) or PVA, wherein the carbon black has a weight of between 10% and 50% of a weight of the PDMS or PVA. The electrode can be suitable for bioelectronics. A pattern of hydrogel can be deposited on the electrode for providing adhesion to a subject. The electrode can be used in wound treatment and/or monitoring devices or in various other bioelectronics applications.

Flexible nonmetallic electrode

A microfluidic pH-stat with a specially-is designed slide and portable device can be used for point-of-care enzyme diagnostics. The slide includes a microchamber and a substrate for the enzyme being tested. The substrate is homogenized with the sample in the microchamber to form a test volume. The microchamber includes a working microelectrode that injects current to split water in the test volume to generate hydrogen ions and/or hydroxide ions and a micro-pH-electrode to measure a pH of the test volume; the slide also includes a reference microelectrode. The device includes a processor to adjust the injected current based on the pH of the test volume and determine an activity of the enzyme based on an amount the injected current is adjusted.

The present invention provides a thin and flexible device and method of use thereof for wound treatment and infection control. The integrated surface stimulation device may comprise wireless stimulation system in a disposable and/or reusable flexible device for widespread use in multiple therapeutic applications. The invention would be situated on the skin surface of a patient and would be activated so as to reduce the overall occurrence of infections and/or increase wound healing rates. As provided, the device will comprise an integrated power supply and pre-programmable stimulator/control system on a flexible polymeric substrate layer with areas of stimulating electrodes, applied using techniques such as those found in additive manufacturing processes. The device is especially valuable in treating biofilm-based infections.

Methods of using an integrated surface stimulation device for wound therapy and infection control

Provided are devices and methods for providing a flexible implantable tissue stimulator. A flexible implantable tissue stimulator can be use in a variety of medical/surgical procedures, and therapeutic interventions, such as musculoskeletal stimulation therapy. The flexible implantable tissue stimulator can be implanted via a minimally invasive procedure and comprises a biocompatible flexible construction that enables it to conform to a variety of implantation orientations and biological conditions. The flexible implantable tissue can provide programmable biphasic electrical stimulation to impaired tissue, such as a gluteal muscle.

Flexible implantable tissue stimulator and methods of making and using same

Devices and methods for remotely monitoring and treating wounds or wound infections are disclosed. A device can include a multi-layered, flexible substrate having a dressing layer positioned on a wound side of the substrate, and a flexible printed circuit board layer positioned on an electronics side of the substrate that is opposite the wound side of the dressing layer. A plurality of electrodes can be electrically coupled to the flexible printed circuit board. A plurality of temperature sensors can be electrically coupled to the flexible printed circuit board. Devices, and systems for remotely monitoring and treating wounds or wound infections

A method for directly writing metal traces on a wide range of substrate materials is disclosed. The method includes writing a pattern of particle-free metal-salt-based ink on the substrate followed by a plasma-based treatment to remove the non-metallic components of the ink and decompose its metal salt into pure metal. The ink is based on a multi-part solvent whose components differ in at least one of evaporation rate, surface tension, and viscosity, which improves the manner in which the ink is converted into its metal constituent via the plasma treatment. In some embodiments, a microplasma is used for post-treatment of the deposited ink, where the plasma properties are controlled to provide different material properties, such as porosity and effective resistivity, in different regions of the metal pattern.

A microplasma sputter deposition system suitable for directly writing two-dimensional and three-dimensional structures on a substrate is disclosed. Deposition systems in accordance with the present invention include a magnetic-field generator that provides a magnetic field that is aligned with the arrangement of an anode and a wire target. This results in a plasma discharge within a region between a wire target and an anode that is substantially a uniform sheet, which gives rise to the deposition of material on the substrate in highly uniform and radially symmetric fashion.

One aspect of the present disclosure can include an interconnect system for bridging electrical contacts. The system can include a first electrical contact, a second electrical contact, and an interconnect device that is coupled to and extends between the first and second electrical contacts.
