An electromechanical motor includes a rail to be moved, a dry, non-lubricated, sliding bearing for the rail, and driving members imposing a mechanical driving force on the rail. The bearing has two rail contacting portions. A first portion contacts the rail for obstructing displacements of the rail in a first direction transverse to a main extension of the rail. The first portion also obstructs rotation of the rail around an axis parallel to the main extension. The second portion is arranged for obstructing displacements of the rail in the first direction transverse to the main extension, while allowing at least a minor movement of at least one of rotation of the rail. The motor allows for mechanical flexibility at certain selected positions and ensures immobility at other selected positions, in order to reduce the impact of externally induced displacements, torques and rotations at critical places in the motor.

Robust electromechanical motor

A digital camera is constructed with multiple lenses mounted in a pair of tubular elements which are nested together for relative axial movement. Movement is provided by piezoelectric actuators mounted externally to a support tube on flexible printed circuit board elements. Each lens tube is provided with a drive rail which extends at least partially over the length of the lens tube and projects radially outward from the periphery of each of the tubes. The rails are accessible to the engagement pads of the piezoelectric actuators to allow the transmission of drive forces to each of the tubes.

A combustion engine with compression-initiated combustion comprises at least one cylinder in which a piston is movable axially between a lower dead center point and an upper dead center point, with a dead volume between the cylinder and the piston at the upper dead center point. The dead volume comprises at least two substantially separate spaces in the piston and/or the cylinder at the upper dead center point which are designed to ensure that combustion is initiated at different times.

In an electromechanical motor, elongated electromechanical drive elements are mechanically and preferably also electrically attached to a carrier. A spring is arranged to apply a force on the electromechanical drive element by pressing the backside of the carrier at a pivot point. The carrier is allowed to pivot around the pivot point around an axis parallel to a the element elongation. The electromechanical drive element is thereby suspended in a floating manner. The electromechanical drive elements are arranged to present a bending motion having strokes perpendicular to the elongation. The pivot point, the mechanical joint between the carrier and the electromechanical drive element, and preferably also a nodal point of bending motions of the electromechanical element are situated at a common plane perpendicular to the element elongation. In one embodiment, the electromechanical drive element is provided with metallizations to which the carrier is soldered.

Electromechanical motor and assembling method therefore

A method for fuel injection in a four-stroke combustion engine () of piston-and-cylinder type with compression ignition, whereby a specified fuel quantity is supplied to a combustion chamber () for each working cycle, and whereby EGR gases are led back to the combustion chamber (). At least a first portion of said fuel quantity is combined with hot EGR gases for supply to the combustion chamber (). The invention also relates to a combustion engine working according to the method.

An electromechanical motor () has a driving element () comprising two electromechanical vibrators (). The two electromechanical vibrators () are interconnected by a link member (). The electromechanical vibrators () are, at the ends () connected to the link (), attached to a backbone () of a stator () by a respective resilient joint member (). A mechanical connection to the backbone () is thus introduced essentially between the vibrator () and the link (). A vibration of one of the electromechanical vibrators () is transferred into a tilting or torsion of one of the joint members (), and a similar vibration of the other electromechanical vibrator () provides a tilting or torsion of the other joint member (). The liner (), interconnecting the vibrators () is subsequently caused to deform and move. Depending on the vibrations and their relative phases, an actuating portion () of the link () can be brought along a motion path and this can in turn be used to interact with a body to be moved.

Electromagnetic drive unit

An electromechanical motor according to the present invention has a stator with a drive element consisting of two serially connected bending sections and a central drive pad, for actuating on a body to be moved. The drive element extends parallel to the body. The drive pad and/or the body is elastic. Preferably, the drive pad has a lower stiffness than the body. The elasticity of the drive pad allows an assimilation of a part of the travelling wave energy applied to the drive element. The backbone of the stator is arranged to restrict the drive element from being removed from the body, but at the same time allow the drive element to be translated towards the body and even leave the mechanical contact with the backbone for shorter periods of time. Support means are preferably designed with convex surfaces in order to allow self-centering of the different parts of the motor.

Near-resonance electromechanical motor

A support for an optical system of a digital camera is constructed which provides adjustable positioning of the lens elements in response to signals from the camera control processor. The support comprises multiple tubes, mounted for relative coaxial movement, which support a lens element. At least one of the tubes is adjustable in position relative to a main support tube. The adjustable tube is engageable by piezoelectric elements. Each piezoelectrical element is mounted to a flexible printed circuit board which contains the camera operating system and is mounted on the support tube.
