A family of rotating cutting tools includes at least two toolholders having different diameters, each toolholder including a first side and a second side, the first side and the second side being substantially perpendicular to an axis of rotation of the toolholder, and at least one insert abutment surface on each of the first side and the second side. For each toolholder, the insert abutment surfaces on the first and second sides define an angle with a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the toolholder, and the angle defined by the insert abutment surfaces and the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the toolholder is different for the at least two toolholders having different diameters.

Family of rotating cutting tools

A slot-milling tool includes a slot-milling insert to be on-edge mounted to a toolholder of the slot-milling tool. The insert includes a first side surface, a second side surface, and a plurality of edge surfaces between the first and second side surfaces, each edge surface intersecting with another edge surface at a corner and forming a cutting edge. The first and second side surfaces each have a side insert supporting surface for abutting against an abutment surface in a toolholder, and the insert has reflective symmetry about a central plane extending through the edge surfaces midway between the first and second side surfaces. A chipbreaker is provided on each edge surface and corresponds to each cutting edge, and each chipbreaker includes a recess beneath the cutting edge and a portion projecting toward the cutting edge, the projecting portion defining first and second chip deflecting recesses between the projecting portion and the first and second side surfaces, respectively.

The present invention relates to a tool head preferably for milling. The tool head is connectable to a toolholder. The tool head includes a cutting portion and a mounting portion. The mounting portion includes an axial stop surface and a radial stop surface. Dimensions and tolerances of the axial stop surface and the radial stop surface are selected such that the axial stop surface will abut an axial stop on the toolholder to prevent axial movement of the toolholder relative to the tool head beyond the axial stop surface and the radial stop surface will be disposed proximate a radial stop of the toolholder to limit radial movement of the tool head relative to the toolholder when an integral fastening portion of the tool head and an integral fastening portion of the toolholder are fastened directly to one another and the axial stop surface and the axial stop abut.

Cutting tool and tool head

In a cutting insert and a milling tool, where the cutting insert is to be on-edge mounted to the tool, the cutting insert includes a polygonal body of wear resistant material. The body includes a first side surface and a second side surface opposing one another and therebetween a number of end surfaces. The intersection of two end surfaces form a cutting edge at a corner portion. The first side surface is substantially planar and the second side surface connects to raised portions at corner portions. The first side surface is greater than the second side surface.

Tool

The present invention relates to a replaceable cutting tip and, more particularly, to such cutting tips attachable to the cutting tip holders by a threaded connection. The cutting tip for a cutting tool includes a working end portion disposed along an axis of the cutting tip and including one or more cutting edges for machining a workpiece, and a mounting portion disposed along the axis of the cutting tip. The mounting portion includes a frustoconical supporting surface tip portion and a frustoconical threaded portion. The present invention also relates to a cutting tool per se.

Cutting tool

The present invention relates to a tool and a male part for chip removing machining. The tool includes a male part and a holder for the male part. The male part includes a radial and axial supporting and positioning portion and a threaded portion. A largest diameter of the externally threaded portion is smaller than a smallest diameter of the radially and axially supporting and positioning portion. A transition portion is disposed along the axis of the male part between a radially largest portion of the radially and axially supporting and positioning portion and the externally threaded portion.

Tool for chip removing machining

The present invention relates to a tool, a cutting insert and a shim for cutting machining. The tool includes a holder for turning or milling, a shim and an indexable cutting insert. The shim has an upper side and the cutting insert has a lower side. The lower side includes protrusions, The cutting insert and the shim are provided to abut against each other in three points. The upper side of the shim includes recesses. The recesses are provided spaced from the projections.

A directly pressed cutting insert for chip removing machining includes a top surface, a bottom support surface, and edge surfaces interconnecting the top and support surfaces. The top surface comprises a chip surface. A cutting corner is formed by the intersection of two of the edge surfaces and includes a first cutting edge. One of the two edge surfaces includes a first clearance surface having a first clearance angle. The first edge surface includes a second clearance surface having a second clearance angle, which is greater than the first clearance angle. Each of the first and second clearance surfaces connects to the same first cutting edge.
