Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an apparatus and/or method involving respective sets of interleaved pressure cells, which operate to inflate and deflate independently of one another. The pressure cells further provide shear relief by deflecting along a direction of movement, such as along a shear direction of an upper surface coupled to the pressure cells. Such deflection may, for example, be implemented with elongated pressure cells and along a direction that is perpendicular to a length thereof. Shear relief in this regard may be facilitated by undercut regions of the respective pressure cells, at which location the pressure cells are coupled to an underlying surface and which is smaller in dimension relative to an overlying portion of the pressure cell.

An apparatus is disclosed for filling single-serve biodegradable coffee pods. In one embodiment, a single-serve pod will include an outer shell defining an interior of the pod, a filter containing a product to be brewed, and a film lid at a top of the pod; and a filter support that supports an upper filter support portion counter the force of a filter that expands and thereby applies a downward pressure on the upper filter support portion during a brewing process.

Apparatus and system to fill single-serve biodegradable coffee pods

Described is an apparatus for filling single-serve biodegradable coffee pods. The apparatus includes a base for supporting a rotatable platform comprising multiple pod holders, a filler mounted on the base and adjacent to the rotatable platform comprising a container filled with ground coffee and multiple augers capable of filling the coffee pods with ground coffee, a sealer mounted on the base comprising a heat sealable film winder, and a controller directing rotation of the rotatable platform, filling of the ground coffee from the filler, and sealing and trimming of the sealed film tops of the single-serve, biodegradable coffee pods.

An apparatus and packaging system for filling single-serve pods is described. The apparatus includes a base for supporting a rotatable platform comprising multiple pod holders, a filler mounted on the base and adjacent to the rotatable platform comprising a container filled with food product and multiple augers capable of filling the pods with food product, a sealer mounted on the base comprising a film winder, and a controller directing rotation of the rotatable platform, filling of the food product from the filler, and sealing and trimming of the sealed film tops of the single-serve pods.

An imaging apparatus including a media source having a plurality of sheets of photothermographic imaging media contained therein, an exposure unit including an input engagement point, an output engagement point, and a laser module positioned therebetween, and a driven roller pair forming a nip. A driven roller pair is configured to receive a leading edge of a sheet from a media source and is configured to begin extracting the sheet from the media source and driving the sheet along a transport path extending from the media source to at least the output engagement point of the exposure unit. Upon the leading edge being engaged by the input engagement point, the nip is configured to open while the trailing edge of sheet is still within the media source such that a remaining portion of the sheet is extracted from the media source by the exposure unit while the laser module exposes a desired image on the sheet.
