Embodiments of an acoustic filter are disclosed. In some embodiments, a bandpass filter is included in a passband signal path, the passband signal path is connected between a first terminal and a second terminal. A first bandstop filter is located in a first stopband signal path, the first stopband signal path connected at the first terminal. Additionally, a second bandstop filter is located in a second stopband signal path, the second stopband signal path is connected at the second terminal.

Acoustic filters with improved return loss

A programmable acoustic filter circuit is provided. Herein, the programmable acoustic filter circuit can be dynamically controlled to toggle between two different passbands, such as different unlicensed national information infrastructure (UNII) bands. The programmable acoustic filter circuit includes an insertion element, a main filter, and a notch circuit. The insertion element is coupled in series with the main filter with very low insertion loss. Specifically, the notch circuit can be dynamically decoupled from the insertion element to thereby cause the main filter to pass a radio frequency (RF) signal in a main passband or be coupled to the insertion element to thereby cause the main filter to pass the RF signal in an alternative passband different from the main passband. As a result, it is possible to flexibly configure the programmable acoustic filter circuit to provide adequate out-of-band rejection with lowest possible insertion loss in various coexisting and concurrent operations.

A communications receiver includes a low noise amplifier; a multi-band transmit blocking filter having a first port connected to an output of the low noise amplifier, and an RF analog-to-digital converter having an input connected to a second port of the multi-band transmit blocking filter. The multi-band transmit filter passes the receive frequencies of a group of two or more LTE bands, where a first receive frequency range of a first band in the group and a second receive frequency range of a second band in the group are disjoint and not subsets of a receive frequency range of a third band in the group, and attenuates the transmit frequencies of at least some bands in the group by at least twenty dB.

Apparatus and methods for tunable filters are provided. In certain configurations, a tunable filter includes a semiconductor die attached to a laminated substrate, such as a substrate of a multi-chip module (MCM). The tunable filter includes a vector inductor implemented using two or more conductors arranged on different conductive layers of the laminated substrate. The vector inductor's conductors are inductively coupled to one another and electrically connected in parallel to provide the vector inductor with high quality factor (Q-factor). The semiconductor die includes a variable capacitor that is electrically connected with the vector inductor to operate as a tunable resonator. Additionally, a frequency characteristic of the tunable filter, such as a passband, can be controlled by selecting a capacitance value of the variable capacitor, thereby tuning a resonance of the resonator.

A direct current (DC)-DC converter that includes a first switching converter and a multi-stage filter is disclosed. The multi-stage filter includes at least a first inductance (L) capacitance (C) filter and a second LC filter coupled in series between the first switching converter and a DC-DC converter output. The first LC filter has a first LC time constant and the second LC filter has a second LC time constant, which is less than the first LC time constant. The first LC filter includes a first capacitive element having a first self-resonant frequency, which is about equal to a first notch frequency of the multi-stage filter.
