A catheter is provided with increased flexibility and radiopaque measurement visibility. The radiopaque measurement bands are formed of a continuous coil of radiopaque material defined by areas of tightly packed coils spaced by areas of loosely wound coils. Systems and methods of utilizing the measurement structure are also provided.

Device, system, and method utilizing a radiopaque element for anatomical lesion length estimation

The invention generally relates to devices and methods that provide for guided delivery of a heart replacement valve or other implant into the vasculature. In certain embodiments, a delivery device of the invention includes an outer sheath and an inner sheath moveably disposed within the outer sheath. The outer sheath includes a first imaging element and defining a center lumen that leads to an opening. The outer sheath is further configured to releasably hold an implant within the center lumen. The first imaging element is configured to at least partially surround the center lumen such that the implant is deployable through the first imaging element. The inner sheath is configured to engage with and deploy the implant out of the opening of the elongate body and into a body lumen.

Implant delivery system and implants

Rotational intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging devices and systems are provided. The IVUS imaging devices include catheters having a rotating drive cable with a transducer disposed at a distal end thereof for imaging a bodily vessel of interest. In some embodiments, a lubricious coating is applied on the drive cable to promote uniform rotation of the drive cable and the transducer. In some embodiments, the drive cable is coated with a polymer layer to promote uniform rotation of the drive cable and the transducer. In some embodiments, radiopaque markers are affixed on the drive cable for accurate placement of the transducer within of the vessel and for accurate measurement of internal dimensions and lesion lengths within the body of the patient.

The system includes a catheter having a plurality of visible markers on a proximal portion that are proportional to a plurality of radiopaque markers on a distal portion. The present disclosure provides various embodiments of methods of forming a tapering distal tip for a catheter. An exemplary method includes providing a mandrel and a holding hypotube, placing a tip first material with a first outer diameter over the mandrel and the hypotube, placing a tip second material with a second outer diameter over the mandrel and under the first material, placing a shrink tube of heat-shrink material around at least a junction of the first material and second material, heating the shrink tube, cooling the first material and second material, and removing the shrink tube and the hypotube. The first outer diameter is greater than the second outer diameter.
