Restriction systems are methods of tracking downhole devices as they are displaced in tubulars are provided. An example restriction system comprises a tubular comprising at least one series of restrictions disposed on an interior surface of the interior of the tubular; a pressure sensor configured to measure the tubular pressure; and a downhole device capable of traversing the series of restrictions. An example method comprises providing a tubular comprising at least one series of restrictions disposed on an interior surface of the interior of the tubular, and a pressure sensor disposed on an interior surface of the interior of the tubular. The example method further comprises introducing a downhole device into the tubular and measuring the pressure within the tubular as the downhole device traverses the at least one series of restrictions.

A downhole system can include multiple sub-components of a downhole debris separator assembly that is modular. The system can also include multiple couplers arranged on or among the sub-components of the multiple sub-components. Each of the couplers can connect with others of the couplers in different combinations to form respectively different configurations of the downhole debris separator assembly.

A downhole assembly can include plates in series along a length of a tubular member. Plates can include particulate-blocking areas and pass-through areas. A pass-through area of a plate can be angularly offset from a pass-through area of another plate in the series. The plates may be angled so that particulate carried by fluid from a wellbore may be trapped by particulate-blocking areas that may be tilted away from the fluid source.

A downhole assembly can include screens along a length of a tubular member. Screens covering differing portions of a cross-sectional area of the tubular and less than an entirety of the cross-sectional area can be offset from one another along a length of the tubular. Fluid flowing through an area not covered by a first screen can encounter an area covered by an offset screen. If the offset screen is blocked with accumulated debris, fluid may pass the offset screen by passing through an area not covered by the offset screen.
