A control valve assembly for a variable cam timing phaser includes a valve housing defining a valve housing interior, a control valve disposed in the valve housing interior, and a weight movably coupled to the valve housing. The valve housing is configured to rotate about an axis during operation of the variable cam timing. The weight is movably coupled to the valve housing and configured to actuate the control valve between a first control valve position adjacent to the first valve housing end and a second control valve position spaced axially from the first control valve position. The weight is configured to actuate the control valve between the first and second control valve positions during rotation of the valve housing about the axis.

Control valve assembly of a variable cam timing phaser

A variable cam timing phaser of a variable cam timing system includes a housing and a rotor moveable with respect to the housing. The rotor and the housing define advance and retard chambers. The variable cam timing phaser also includes a control valve assembly. The control valve assembly includes a valve housing defining a valve housing interior, a supply port, first and second working ports, and an exhaust port. The control valve assembly also includes a piston moveable for controlling flow of the hydraulic fluid through the valve housing interior. The exhaust port is fluidly connectable with a sump through a vent path that is defined by at least one of the valve housing and the rotor. The vent path is configured to prevent air from being sucked into the variable cam timing phaser through the vent path.

An inlet check valve for controlling fluid from a supply into a variable cam timing phaser includes a double flapper check valve assembly with an open position and a closed position, which includes a housing having a body, at least one stopper, a flapper valve comprising at least two flexible flaps received within the housing and aligned with the stopper(s), and a valve seat received within the housing, the valve seat defining openings aligned with the at least two flexible flaps, axially opposite the two stoppers.

A pulley for phaser including a toothed outer circumference for accepting a drive force; an inner circumference with at least a first set of lands extending towards a center of the pulley and spaced apart along the inner circumference of the pulley; and an axial retaining feature on the first set of lands for interaction with a corresponding retaining feature of a housing press fit within the inner circumference with the pulley, axially retaining the housing within the pulley.

One example is a betavoltaic cell that has been fabricated using a semiconductor that includes, but is not limited to, Silicon Carbide (SiC), Silicon (Si), Gallium Arsenide (GaAs), Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs), Gallium Nitide (GaN), Gallium Phosphide (GaP), or Diamond, and uses through wafer via holes or other fabrication techniques to form both positive (+ve) and negative (&#x2212;ve) contacts on the front and back sides of the cell. In another example, several of these cells with +ve and &#x2212;ve contacts on the front and back sides of the cell are arranged vertically and/or horizontally to form customized parallel and/or series combinations that produce a close packed, energy dense betavoltaic composite unit, with increased power outputs relative to a single cell. In another example, tritium or a metal tritide is used as the radioisotope source for the cells.

We introduce a new technology for Manufactureable, High Power Density, High Volume Utilization Nuclear Batteries. Betavoltaic batteries are an excellent choice for battery applications which require long life, high power density, or the ability to operate in harsh environments. In order to optimize the performance of betavoltaic batteries for these applications or any other application, it is desirable to maximize the efficiency of beta particle energy conversion into power, while at the same time increasing the power density of an overall device. Various devices and methods to solve the current industry problems and limitations are presented here.

Betavoltaic batteries are an excellent choice for battery applications which require long life, high power density, or the ability to operate in harsh environments. In order to optimize the performance of betavoltaic batteries for these applications or any other application, it is desirable to maximize the efficiency of beta particle energy conversion into power, while at the same time increasing the power density of an overall device. The small (submicron) thickness of the active volume of both the isotope layer and the semiconductor device is due to the short absorption length of beta electrons. The absorption length determines the self absorption of the beta particles in the radioisotope layer as well as the range, or travel distance, of the betas in the semiconductor converter which is typically a semiconductor device comprising at least one PN junction. Various devices and methods to solve the current industry problems and limitations are presented here.

A device such as a chain tensioner arm and the method of forming the same are provided. The device includes a top wearing member and a bottom structural member, in which the device is produced by forming the top wearing member and the bottom structural member in a single molding cycle.
