The inventive method for remotely maintaining and controlling a security system comprises using a device to communicate using voice capable technology with an IVR in a host facility, selecting an action from a plurality of actions provided by the IVR, performing the action on the security system, and receiving a notification of performance of the action, wherein the host facility contacts the security system to perform the action. In one embodiment, the actions can control and/or monitor the security system. The method can further comprise creating an account with an identification code on the host facility and validating the code on the IVR. The method can also include translating the selected action into a command, sending a message to a GSM device in the security system, and, in response to the message, establishing a GPRS session between the security system and the host facility, wherein the session performs the command.

Using an IVR to remotely operate security systems

A system and method for activating and registering a security system with a cellular provider using SMS messages is provided. The SMS messages used for activating and registering the security system are generated in a format that is predetermined by the processing station in order to provide a uniform structure for presenting the necessary information required for the specified function, i.e., activation or registration. The use of a uniform structure for the SMS allows the message to be processed entirely by a computer thus reducing cost, delay and error from having the information entered manually by a technician.

Security cellular radio activation and registration via SMS

A method is presented for providing alarm notification and two-way voice communication for a hybrid data/voice system. In one embodiment, the method comprises sending an alarm notification from a communication device to an alarm forwarding service, recognizing an ID of the communication device, using said ID to create a three-way call among the alarm forwarding service, the communication device and a central station, and initiating a two-way voice communication between said communication device and the central station. In another embodiment, the method comprises sending an alarm notification from a communication device to an alarm forwarding service, establishing a connection from said alarm forwarding service to said communication device, using said connection to create a three-way call among the alarm forwarding service, the communication device and a central station, and initiating a two-way voice communication between the communication device and the central station.
