A computer-implemented method, for use in conjunction with a portable electronic device with a touch screen display, comprises displaying at least a portion of a structured electronic document on the touch screen display, wherein the structured electronic document comprises a plurality of boxes of content, and detecting a first gesture at a location on the displayed portion of the structured electronic document. A first box in the plurality of boxes at the location of the first gesture is determined. The first box on the touch screen display is enlarged and substantially centered.

Portable electronic device, method, and graphical user interface for displaying structured electronic documents

At an electronic device with a touch screen display, display a user interface, where the user interface includes at least two windows of an application, a first icon displayed in association with a first window of the at least two windows, and a second icon at a location different from the at least two windows. While displaying the at least two windows, detect a gesture on the touch screen display. In response to detecting the gesture: in accordance with detecting the gesture on the first icon associated with the first window on the touch screen display, remove from the display the first window of the at least two displayed windows corresponding to the gesture; and in accordance with detecting the gesture on the second icon at the location different from the at least two windows of the application, display a new window of the application on the touch screen display.

A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a computing device with a touch screen display comprises: detecting one or more finger contacts with the touch screen display, applying one or more heuristics to the one or more finger contacts to determine a command for the device, and processing the command. The one or more heuristics comprise: a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a one-dimensional vertical screen scrolling command, a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a two-dimensional screen translation command, and a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a command to transition from displaying a respective item in a set of items to displaying a next item in the set of items.

Touch screen device, method, and graphical user interface for customizing display of content category icons

An electronic device displays a first map view of a map that includes one or more map objects on a touch-sensitive display. While displaying the first map view, the device detects a first gesture of a first gesture type at a first location on the touch-sensitive display. The first location corresponds to a respective map object. In response to detecting the first gesture at the first location, the device enters a map view selection mode. While in the map view selection mode, the device detects a second gesture of a second gesture type at a second location on the touch-sensitive display. The second location corresponds to a respective location on the map. In response to detecting the second gesture at the second location, the device replaces the first map view with a second map view that includes a view of the respective map object from the respective location.

Device, method, and graphical user interface for selection of views in a three-dimensional map based on gesture inputs

An electronic device displays on a display a first three-dimensional map view of a respective map location. The first three-dimensional map view is viewed from a first angle while an orientation of the electronic device corresponds to a first orientation. The electronic device detects a rotation of the electronic device with at least one orientation sensor, and determines a respective orientation of the electronic device. The respective orientation is distinct from the first orientation. While detecting the rotation of the electronic device, the electronic device updates the first three-dimensional map view with a respective three-dimensional map view of the respective map location. The respective three-dimensional map view is viewed from a respective angle distinct from the first angle. The respective angle is determined in accordance with the respective orientation of the electronic device.

In response to detecting a finger gesture on a bookmarked location, an area corresponding to the bookmarked location is displayed on a digital map. In response to detecting a finger gesture on a recent query, one or more results corresponding to the recent query are displayed on a digital map. In response to detecting a finger gesture on a contact, an area associated with the contact is displayed on a digital map.
