Various embodiments of the present invention relate to an electronic device for executing a recommended application corresponding to a user input by using the user input, and an operating method thereof. An electronic device according to various embodiments of the present invention may comprise: an input module configured to receive a user input; a processor operatively connected to the input module; and a memory operatively connected to the processor, wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed, cause the processor to: receive a first input including a query through the input module; determine a recommended application matching the query among multiple applications installed in the electronic device; output an identification message for execution of the recommended application; receive a second input corresponding to the identification message; and execute the recommended application in response to reception of the second input.

Disclosed is an electronic device including a communication interface connecting to an external device, an input interface receiving a user input, a memory storing at least one application, a display displaying an image, and a processor electrically connected to the communication interface, the input interface, the memory, and the display. The processor displays a user interface (UI) of a first application for transmitting or receiving a message stored in the memory, on a display, receives a user input for transmitting an emoji, to which a specified function is set, to an external electronic device through the input interface, obtains information necessary to perform the specified function, using identification information of the external electronic device, includes the obtained information in the emoji such that the external electronic device performs the specified function through the emoji, displays the emoji on the UI displayed on the display, and transmits the emoji to the external electronic device through the communication interface. Other various embodiments as understood from the specification are also possible.

An electronic device includes a communication interface, an input interface, a memory storing a message application for transmitting/receiving a message that includes a main message, a display, and a processor. The processor sets a first interaction for displaying a first hidden message on the main message, the first interaction including information about at least one of a type, an input position, an input frequency, an input time, and an input sequence of a user input used to display the first hidden message, generates the message to include the main message and the first hidden message, the message being configured such that the first hidden message is displayed on the main message when the user input used to display the first hidden message and corresponding to the set first interaction is received, and transmits the generated message to an external device through the communication interface.
