The invention concerns a device and a method for protecting display time. The image processing method according to the invention comprises a step of shifting pictures by a pattern at a pixel shift frequency characterized in that the frequency is changed for a group of at least one picture depending on a motion degree of the group.

Method and device for protecting displays from burn-in effect

The invention relates to decode data transmitted via US National Weather Service NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) transmitters or any other data transmitted in a comparable way. According to the invention a method to decode a received data string comprises the steps of locating a predefined significant part of the data string, disregarding an insignificant part of the data string, and further checking only the located significant part of the data string. Decoding according to the proposed algorithm is very reliable.

Method to decode a data string

A switched-mode power supply with a control loop and a microprocessor has a normal mode and a low-power mode with a burst mode. The microprocessor is connected via an output to the control loop and uses this to control the burst mode of the switched-mode power supply directly. The control loop of the switched-mode power supply monitors, in particular, a secondary output voltage, so that the output of the microprocessor is connected to the control loop, for example via a simple resistor network or a transistor stage. The clock frequency and the duty cycle of the burst mode are permanently stored in the microprocessor and can be defined for the switched-mode power supply directly, for example using TTL logic.

A low cost tuning bar type display for a television tuner is utilized for providing programming position information by segmenting the tuning bar into a predetermined number of dots, each of which corresponds to a programming position. A selected programming position is indicated by elongating the appropriate dot of the display.

A tuning system for a television receiver produces a tuning bar for display on a display screen. The horizontal position of the tuning bar is controlled in response to the tuning voltage. The tuning bar is segmented into a large portion and one or more smaller portions. The number of smaller portions of the tuning bar is representative of the band being tuned.
