An illumination device, system, and method are disclosed. The illumination system includes a first set of light sources and a second set of light sources, driven by a first driver and second driver, respectively. The system further includes a dimming control system that implemented dimming control logic. The dimming control logic coordinates the operation of the first and second drivers such that the first and second sets of light sources are activated and deactivated so as to achieve substantially constant color temperature during dimming operations.

Specifically, the downlight auxiliary ring device, comprising light-emitting diodes, allows a dimmable and reduced-glare reflected downlight. The lighting fixture may have an additional aperture with additional wavelength converter and additional transmission adjustor.

In one embodiment, a light source comprising a substrate, a die, a liquid encapsulant, an attachment member and a resilient cover configured to hold the liquid encapsulant is disclosed. At least a portion of the resilient cover is easily stretchable so as to absorb size increment of the liquid encapsulant due to thermal expansion. One other embodiment discloses a light-emitting device comprising a die, a liquid encapsulant and the resilient cover. The resilient cover may comprise a dome shaped portion, a vertical portion and a thermal joint portion. In another embodiment, a lighting apparatus having similar resilient cover is disclosed. The resilient cover may further comprise a thermal joint portion having first and second indentations for absorbing thermal expansion.

An input device and display apparatus with multi-light segments has been disclosed. The input device may comprise a rigid light guide layer having alignment structures that define the rigid light guide layer into multiple light segments, a plurality of first layer flexible light guide films and a plurality of second layer flexible light guide films. The alignment structures may be formed together when making the rigid light guide layer in an injection molding process. By coupling multiple light sources into each of the light guides, the display may be configured to display multiple color and multiple symbols, independently. In another embodiment, the light guide may be utilized in a display apparatus without a LCD.

The key plate member may have a plurality of keys formed thereon. A light guide includes a light interface surface, top and bottom surfaces, a surface feature pattern, and a cut line. The light interface surface receives light into the light guide from a light source. The light received through the light interface surface reflects according to total internal reflection (TIR) within the light guide between portions of the top and bottom surfaces. The surface feature pattern disrupts the TIR and scatters at least some of the light outside of at least one surface of the top and bottom surfaces. The cut line redirects at least some of the light from a first direction to a second direction within the light guide. The first direction is a direction other than towards the surface feature pattern, while the second direction is a direction substantially towards the surface feature pattern. The light guide may back-illuminate an optical keypad with a plurality of push buttons.

A multi-segmented light guide for keypad and display apparatus has been disclosed. The light guide film may comprise a plurality of light segments configured to transmit light independently. The boundaries of the light segments may be defined by a plurality of micro-optic structures. The micro-optic structures may have a height at least half the thickness of the light guide.

In an embodiment, the invention provides a keypad assembly comprising a keypad, a light guide sheet, a dome sheet, and a board. The keypad comprises at least one protrusion and at least one rib. The light guide sheet has openings that are smaller than a first portion of the at least one protrusion. The dome sheet and the board have openings that are larger than a first portion of the at least one protrusion. The at least one protrusion is compressible such that the first portion of the at least one protrusion is extendable through the openings in the light guide sheet, the dome sheet and the board. The at least one rib physically contacts at least a portion of the light guide sheet.

A light guide display includes a printed overlay layer, a first light guide layer, and a second light guide layer. The printed overlay layer includes an input region with a symbol that is at least partially translucent. The first light guide layer is disposed on a back side of the printed overlay layer to illuminate the symbol of the printed overlay layer in response to illumination of the first light guide layer. The second light guide layer is disposed on a front side of the printed overlay layer, opposite the first light guide layer. The second light guide layer includes a separate symbol that is distinct from the symbol of the printed overlay layer.
