A bending applying device includes three mandrels and applies bending to an optical fiber by winding the optical fiber onto the mandrels. The mandrels are alternately arranged at predetermined intervals such that outer circumferences of adjacent mandrels in a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber face each other in a non-contact manner. A diameter of the optical fiber is D, a radius of the mandrel is r, an interval between the adjacent mandrels in the first direction is 2r+d, a direction orthogonal to the first direction is a second direction, an interval between the adjacent mandrels in the second direction is s, and an angle θ between the second direction and a common internal tangent of the adjacent mandrels is 0 degrees or more and 45 degrees or less, and the formed angle θ satisfies following formula.

An optical fiber bending loss measuring method for obtaining a bending loss of an optical fiber by applying bending to the optical fiber with mandrels provided between a feeding portion and a fixing portion and arranged alternately in a longitudinal direction of the optical fiber. The method includes fixing the optical fiber to the fixing portion by passing the optical fiber fed out from the feeding portion between the mandrels, moving the movable mandrel to a forward position and applying bending to the optical fiber by holding the optical fiber between the adjacent mandrels, and obtaining the bending loss of the optical fiber while the bending is applied to the optical fiber.

Optical fiber bending loss measuring method

This method includes a reference optical fiber transmission loss measurement step for measuring a reference optical fiber transmission loss measurement value, a difference value calculation step for subtracting the transmission loss reference value from the reference optical fiber transmission loss measurement value and calculating a transmission loss difference value, and a measured-optical-fiber measurement step for measuring the transmission loss of an optical fiber to be measured, the reference optical fiber transmission loss measurement step being repeatedly performed, a transmission loss difference value being calculated by performing the difference value calculation step each time a reference optical fiber transmission loss measurement value is obtained, a correction value being calculated on the basis of a plurality of transmission loss difference values, the measurement value obtained in the measured-optical-fiber measurement step being corrected using the correction value, and the transmission loss value of the optical fiber to be measured being determined.

A wiring method of an optical fiber in a curved shape includes disposing a first guide member which guides the optical fiber on an outer peripheral side of a wiring path of the curved shape of the optical fiber, and imparting a predetermined bending to the optical fiber by bringing the optical fiber into contact with the first guide member.
