Power distribution modules are configured to distribute power to a power-consuming component(s), such as a remote antenna unit(s) (RAU(s)). By 'hot' connection and/or disconnection, the power distribution modules can be connected and/or disconnected from a power unit and/or a power-consuming component(s) while power is being provided to the power distribution modules. Power is not required to be disabled in the power unit before connection and/or disconnection of power distribution modules. The power distribution modules may be configured to protect against or reduce electrical arcing or electrical contact erosion that may otherwise result from 'hot' connection and/or connection of the power distribution modules.

Power distribution modules capable of 'hot' connection and/or disconnection in distributed antenna systems (DAS), and related components, power units, and methods are disclosed. The power distribution modules are configured to distribute power to a power-consuming DAS component(s), such as a remote antenna unit(s) (RAU(s)). By 'hot' connection and/or disconnection, it is meant that the power distribution modules can be connected and/or disconnected from a power unit and/or a power-consuming DAS component(s) while power is being provided to the power distribution modules. Power is not required to be disabled in the power unit before connection and/or disconnection of power distribution modules. As a non-limiting example, the power distribution modules may be configured to protect against or reduce electrical arcing or electrical contact erosion that may otherwise result from &#x201c;hot&#x201d; connection and/or connection of the power distribution modules.

An apparatus for releasably attaching a fiber optic module to equipment is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a latch configured to releasably attach the fiber optic module to equipment. The apparatus further comprises a pushrod configured to deactivate the latch from a back end of the fiber optic module, wherein the fiber optic module is released from the equipment. In one embodiment, the fiber optic module is a high-density fiber optic module. The pushrod may be further configured to maintain a position of the latch. The pushrod may also be further configured to be positioned in a groove disposed in a side of a main body of the fiber optic module, wherein the pushrod and the groove are configured to prevent the pushrod from binding while moving within the groove.

Embodiments include distribution in optical fiber-based distributed communications systems configured to provide digital data services and radio frequency (RF) communications services, and related components and methods. Embodiments disclosed include units that can be provided in optical fiber-based distributed communications systems that are configured to support RF communication services and digital data services. The units may also be configured to support providing distribution of power.

A unitary tray for operably supporting a fiber-optic module is disclosed. The tray includes a guide base and guide rails that define a central channel sized to accommodate the fiber-optic module. The fiber-optic module can be slid into a central module position from the back or the front of the tray, and then locked in the central module position. Opposing unitary side guides with slotted channels can be used to form a drawer that holds one or more of the trays. The drawers can be used to form fiber-optic equipment such as an interconnection unit that supports the modules and that allows for conveniently making multiple optical fiber interconnections.

Optical interface cards, assemblies, and related methods, suited for installation and use in antenna system equipment

Communications system housings, assemblies, and related alignment features and methods are disclosed. In certain embodiments, communications cards and related assemblies and methods that include one or more alignment features are disclosed. In certain embodiments, at least one digital connector disposed in the communications card is configured to engage at least one complementary digital connector to align at least one RF connector also disposed in the communications card with at least one complementary RF connector. In other embodiments, printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies are disclosed that include a moveable standoff to provide an alignment feature. In other embodiments, distributed antenna systems and assemblies that include one or more alignment features are disclosed. In certain embodiments, an enclosure is provided that includes a midplane support configured to support a midplane interface card in a datum plane for establishing at least one connection to at least one distributed antenna system component.

Communications equipment housings, assemblies, and related alignment features and methods

A connector housing for use with a communication network and management system thereof includes a housing having a plurality of berths each configured to receive an optical connector adapter unit. A housing electrical connector is associated with each berth and faces the front of the housing to engage an adapter unit electrical connector as the adapter unit is inserted into the berth. Guide elements guide and align the housing electrical connectors with the adapter unit connectors as the adapter units are inserted into the berth to allow blind mating of the housing electrical connectors and the adapter unit connectors. Electrical contacts from at least two housing electrical connectors are consolidated into a cable connector positioned adjacent the back of the housing.

Multi-port optical connection terminals and mounting platforms and related methods designed to secure optical components inside an enclosure of the multi-port optical connection terminals are disclosed. In one embodiment, a multi-port optical connection terminal includes an enclosure comprising a base and a cover configured to attach to the base to define an interior cavity. A mounting platform defining a mounting surface for mounting at least one optical component comprised from the group consisting of at least one splice tray and at least one optical splitter to the at least one mounting surface is provided. A plurality of mounting tabs of the mounting platform are configured to extend into channels disposed in an interior wall of the base. In this manner, the mounting platform and any optical components secured thereto are secured inside the interior cavity, which may prevent damage to optical fibers and/or splices of the optical components.

Mounting platforms for integrally supporting an optical splice tray(s) and/or an optical splitter(s) in a multi-port optical connection terminal and related methods

A multi-port optical connection terminal for use as a branch point in a fiber optic communications network at a distance from a mid-span access location provided on a distribution cable having a plurality of optical fibers. The multi-port terminal includes a base and a cover affixed to the base. A stub cable port formed through one of the base and the cover receives a stub cable having at least one optical fiber extending continuously from the multi-port terminal to the mid-span access location. A first end of the optical fiber is optically connected to a respective optical fiber of the distribution cable at the mid-span access location and a fiber optic connector is mounted upon the second end. At least one connector port is provided on the multi-port terminal for receiving the fiber optic connector and a connectorized end of a fiber optic drop cable extending from the multi-port terminal.

There is provided a cable attachment for sealing and retaining cables entering an opening of a telecommunications closure. The cable attachment includes an adapter body with an opening through which the cable passes; and a grip device and grommet device are also located within the opening of the adapter body for strain relieving and sealing, respectively, the cable passing through the adapter body. The cable attachment further includes a bolt portion that is selectively moveable relative to the adapter body for applying a force to the grommet device for selectively creating a seal about an outer surface of the cable. Alternative designs for sealing and/or strain relieving cables entering a closure are provided.
