A liquid crystal display panel includes a first and a second substrate, scan lines, data lines, pixel structures, a counter electrode layer, and a liquid crystal layer. The scan lines, the data lines, and the pixel structures are located above the first substrate. Each of the pixel structures includes a first active device and a first pixel electrode. The first active device is electrically connected to the scan line and the data line. The first pixel electrode is electrically connected to the first active device and has a plurality of first stripe portions. Two adjacent first stripe portions define a first slit. The first stripe portion has a width L, the first slit has a width S, the first stripe portions have a pitch p there between, and p=L+S. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first and second substrates and has a thickness d. The liquid crystal layer has a splay elastic constant kand a bend elastic constant k, 0&#x3c;(k/k)&#x3c;1, and the liquid crystal display panel represented by a formula (1): 

Liquid crystal display panel

A display device includes a light source module, a first light modulation module, a first polarizer layer, and a first color modulation layer. The light source module generates a first color light that is polarized to the first light modulation module, wherein the first light modulation module selectively modulates the polarization direction of the first color light. The first polarizer layer then receives the first color light and selectively blocks, partially blocks, or does not block the first color light from passing through. The first color modulation layer receives the first color light and generates a second color light.

Transparent display device and display method thereof

A display panel including a plurality of pixel units is provided. Each pixel unit includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a display media therebetween. The first substrate includes a first sub-pixel and a second sub-pixel adjacent to the first sub-pixel. The first sub-pixel includes a first active device and a first pixel electrode electrically connected to the first active device, wherein the first pixel electrode has a first main slit and a plurality of first branch slits connected thereto. The second sub-pixel includes a second active device and a second pixel electrode electrically connected to the second active device, wherein the second pixel electrode has a second main slit and a plurality of second branch slits connected thereto. The second substrate includes a first electrode pattern and a second electrode pattern respectively corresponding to the first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode, and a connecting portion therebetween.

A pixel structure including a first and a second pixel electrode is provided. The first pixel electrode includes a first main portion and first branches. The second pixel electrode includes a second main portion and second branches. The first and second main portions are disposed at an edge of a pixel region. The first and second branches respectively extend from the first and second main portions. The second branches and the first branches are arranged in alternation, and the first branch is parallel to the adjacent second branch. A first opening is formed at neighboring ends of the first main portion and the second main portion. The end of the first main portion has a first bending part, the first bending part is disposed at the edge of the pixel region, and an end of the second branch close to the first opening is surrounded by the first bending part.

Pixel structure

A driving circuit electrically coupled between a first data line and a second data line and between a first scan line and a second scan line. The driving circuit includes a first switch, a second switch, a third switch, a fourth switch, a first sub-capacitor, a second sub-capacitor, a fifth switch, a sixth switch, a first voltage dividing unit and a second voltage dividing unit. The first voltage dividing unit is coupled between a second end of the fifth switch and a reference voltage end. The second voltage dividing unit is coupled between a second end of the sixth switch and the reference voltage end, for redistributing stored electric charges.

Driving circuit

A pixel structure having a first region and a second region adjacent to each other is provided. The pixel structure includes a first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode. The first pixel electrode forms a plurality of first V-shaped electrode patterns. A tip of the first V-shaped electrode patterns is located at a boundary of the first region and the second region. The second pixel electrode includes a plurality of second V-shaped electrode patterns and a first protrusion electrode pattern. The first protrusion electrode pattern is connected to one of the second V-shaped electrode patterns and protrudes towards an adjacent first V-shaped electrode pattern from the tip of the second V-shaped electrode pattern.

A pixel driving circuit is electrically coupled between a first data line and a second data line and between a first scan line and a second scan line, and includes a first switch, a second switch, a third switch, a fourth switch, a liquid crystal capacitor electrically connected between the first switch and the second switch, a first capacitor electrically connected to the first switch, a second capacitor electrically connected to the second switch, a first storage capacitor, a second storage capacitor and at least one switching unit. The first storage capacitor is electrically connected to the third switch and supplied by a reference voltage. The second storage capacitor is electrically connected to the fourth switch and supplied by the reference voltage. The at least one switching unit is used for redistributing charges in the pixel driving circuit.

Pixel driving circuit, driving method thereof, and pixel matrix

A driving method for a bistable display device includes setting a first duration and a second duration according to a frame period; applying a first voltage to a light valve layer in the first duration according to display data, so as to transform the light valve layer from a first state to a second state; and applying a second voltage in the second duration to the light valve layer in the second duration for the light valve layer to transform to the first state. Since the light valve layer of the bistable display device is already at the first state prior to displaying the next image, the light valve layer is not required to reset when switching displayed images, hence reducing the total number of frames required to display each image.

Driving method for bistable display

An MVA LCD device includes a first alignment region, a second alignment region, a third alignment region, and a fourth alignment region. The liquid crystal molecules disposed in the first alignment region have a first aligning direction, and the azimuth angle of the first aligning direction is substantially between 70 and 110 degrees. The liquid crystal molecules disposed in the second alignment region have a second aligning direction, and the azimuth angle of the second aligning direction is substantially between 160 and 200 degrees. The liquid crystal molecules disposed in the third alignment region have a third aligning direction, and the azimuth angle of the third aligning direction is substantially between 250 and 290 degrees. The liquid crystal molecules disposed in the fourth alignment region have a fourth aligning direction, and the azimuth angle of the fourth aligning direction is substantially between &#x2212;20 and 20 degrees.

Multi-domain vertical alignment liquid crystal display device and pixel structure thereof

A pixel structure disposed on a substrate and electrically connected to a scan line and a data line is provided. The pixel structure has a reflective area and includes a common line, a semiconductor lower electrode, an upper electrode, a patterned dielectric layer, a reflective electrode and an active device. The semiconductor lower electrode electrically connected to the common line is disposed on the substrate within the reflective area. The upper electrode is disposed above and electrically isolated from the semiconductor lower electrode. The patterned dielectric layer with the micro-bumps is disposed on the upper electrode and exposes a part of the upper electrode. The reflective electrode is disposed on the patterned dielectric layer and the part of the upper electrode. Besides, the reflective electrode is electrically connected to the upper electrode. The active device is electrically connected to the scan line, the data line and the reflective electrode.
