An image processing apparatus includes a corrector and a determinator. The corrector corrects a correspondence between display pixels of a display unit and data pixels on an image signal to be inputted to the display pixels so that at least one of the display pixels is defined as a mask pixel to which the image signal is no longer inputted. The determinator determines a gradation of the mask pixel in accordance with a gradation indicated by the image signal to be inputted to an edge pixel that is included in the display pixels and located at an edge of the display pixels.

Image processing apparatus, display apparatus, and image processing method

A projector includes an alternately-current-driven light source and a liquid crystal light valve that modulates light output from the light source. The light source and the liquid crystal light valve are driven under a condition that a current drive signal of the light source and a vertical synchronizing signal of the liquid crystal light valve are synchronized, and a synchronization timing of the current drive signal and the vertical synchronizing signal is changed to a different synchronization timing based on accumulated operating time at intervals of each time or a plural times of activation or with the same synchronization timing.

A projector includes a light source apparatus, a light modulator that modulates light outputted from the light source apparatus in accordance with image information, and a projection system that projects light modulated by the light modulator. The light source apparatus outputs light formed of first light of a narrow wavelength band having a first wavelength where the optical intensity peaks and second light of a narrow wavelength band having a second wavelength where the optical intensity peaks, and the separation between the first and the second wavelength is set at a value greater than &#xbc; of one-cycle wavelength of a ripple among ripples contained in an optical spectrum of light that results from the light incident on the light modulator and is reflected off the light modulator, the ripple located in the wavelength regions of the first light and the second light, but smaller than &#xbe; of the one-cycle wavelength.

Projector

A pair of shutter glasses capable of reducing decrease in brightness of displayed images to be visually recognized is provided. A pair of shutter glasses include a pair of light selectors the state of each of which is switched between a light transmitting state in which the light selector transmits light and a light blocking state in which the light selector blocks light. When a full area where light is transmitted or blocked in the light transmitting state or the light blocking state is virtually divided into a plurality of divided areas along a first direction, each of the light selectors switches the state of each of the plurality of divided areas between the light transmitting state and the light blocking state sequentially along the first direction.

An in vivo drug concentration distribution measuring device for measuring, when a drug having an imaging function is administered, in vivo concentration distribution of the drug is disclosed. The device includes: a light source which casts light to a living body as a measuring target; a variable-wavelength filter which, when the light is cast to the drug from outside of the living body, the light emitted from the drug to outside of the living body becomes incident on and transmits light of a predetermined wavelength range, of an entire wavelength range of the incident light, and which is capable of changing the predetermined wavelength range; a photodetector unit which detects intensity of light made incident through the variable-wavelength filter and acquires intensity distribution of light emitted from plural positions on the measuring target; and a drug concentration calculating unit which calculates a concentration of the drug in accordance with the intensity distribution of the light at the plural positions on the measuring target acquired by the photodetector unit.

An electro-optical display device includes: a reflection-type liquid crystal panel that has a driving substrate, on which a reflective layer is disposed, and an opposing substrate facing each other with a liquid crystal interposed therebetween; and an light-transmissive substrate that is disposed on an outer side of the opposing substrate, wherein any one or more values of thermal expansion coefficients of a plurality of element substrates including at least the opposing substrate and the light-transmissive substrate are negative, and any one or more values of the thermal expansion coefficients of the plurality of element substrates are positive.

An electro-optical display device includes: a transmission-type liquid crystal panel that has a driving substrate and an opposing substrate facing each other with a liquid crystal interposed therebetween; a first light-transmissive substrate that is disposed on an outer side of the driving substrate; and a second light-transmissive substrate that is disposed on an outer side of the opposing substrate, wherein any one or more values of thermal expansion coefficients of a plurality of element substrates including at least the driving substrate, the opposing substrate, the first light-transmissive substrate, and the second light-transmissive substrate are negative, and any one or more values of the thermal expansion coefficients of the plurality of element substrates are positive.

An electro-optical display device includes an electro-optical panel, a scanning line drive circuit for scanning the scanning lines of the panel during a selection period, and a signal line drive circuit for outputting a data signal to a predetermined pixel through the corresponding data line of the panel in synchronization with the scanning of the scanning line drive circuit. During the selection period during which the data signal is output to the predetermined pixel, the duration of the ON voltage interval corresponding to a grayscale level having the longest OFF voltage interval is longer than the duration of the OFF voltage interval corresponding to a grayscale level having the longest ON voltage interval.

A liquid crystal apparatus includes a pair of substrates. The pair of substrates includes a liquid crystal layer disposed therebetween, and a two-dimensional array of pixel regions each including a transmissive display region and a reflective display region, the transmissive display regions of different pixel regions having areas different from one another. One of the substrates has a plurality of color filter layers provided in correspondence with the pixel regions, a reflective film provided over the color filter layers, and an overcoat film covering the reflective film. Among the pixel regions including the transmissive display regions having different areas, a pixel region including a transmissive display region with a large area has a color filter layer with a thickness larger than that of a color filter layer provided in a pixel region including a transmissive display region with a small area.

Liquid crystal apparatus, color filter substrate, and electronic apparatus

An image display device includes: pixels in first and second directions; a polarization controller providing first and second polarization axis light; and a controller. The polarization controller includes first electrodes extending in the first direction on a first substrate with a predetermined interval in the second direction, and second electrodes extending in the first direction on a second substrate with an interval in the second direction twice the predetermined interval. The controller switches display between dual-screen and three-dimensional modes. In the dual-screen mode, the controller applies voltages to the second electrodes so adjacent electrodes have opposite phases, and applies the same phase voltage as one of the second electrode voltages to the first electrodes. In the three-dimensional mode, the controller applies voltages to the first electrodes so adjacent electrodes have opposite phases, and applies the same phase voltage as one of the first electrode voltages to the second electrodes.

Image display device and electronic apparatus

A liquid crystal device is provided which has a pair of substrates provided with a plurality of sub-pixels and disposed opposite to each other and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the pair of substrates. The liquid crystal device further includes; a colorant layer formed in some of the sub-pixels in one substrate of the pair of the substrates; a control film that controls a step difference between the colored region in which the colorant layer exists and the non-colored region in which the colorant layer does not exist so that the surface on the liquid crystal layer of the one substrate is planarized in the sub-pixel, and that is provided in the non-colored region of the one substrate; and a reflective film formed on the control film and in the colored region. Here, the colorant layer is provided on the reflective film in the colored region.

Liquid crystal device and electronic apparatus

An upper polarizing plate is provided on the outer surface of an upper substrate, and a lower polarizing plate is provided on the outer surface of a lower substrate. Also, a retardation layer having a phase shift of a quarter wavelength, and a protective layer are provided in turn only on reflective display regions of the inner surface of the lower substrate so that with no voltage applied, the phase shifts of a liquid crystal layer in transmissive display regions and the reflective display regions are set to a half wavelength and a quarter wavelength, respectively. Therefore, the present invention provides a transflective liquid crystal display device having enhanced display brightness in a transmission mode and excellent visibility.

Transflective liquid crystal display device with no retardation layer on the transmissive regions, manufacturing method thereof and electronic apparatus

The present invention provides a color transflective liquid crystal display that is capable of display with good coloring and high visibility in both a reflective mode and a transmissive mode while suppressing deterioration in color reproduction caused by unevenness of the spectral properties of the illumination light, if any. The liquid crystal display can include a liquid crystal display panel including pixels formed of a plurality of sub-pixels each corresponding to different colors, and an illumination device, wherein the liquid crystal display panel includes a transflective layer and a color filter of color corresponding to each of the sub-pixels. The transflective layer includes transmissive portions for transmitting illumination light, wherein the transmissive portion is formed such that the dimension of the transmissive area corresponding to the transmissive portion of at least one sub-pixel out of the plurality of sub-pixels and the dimension of the transmissive area corresponding to the transmissive portion of another sub-pixel, differ.
