A gutter protector formed of a flexible open cell porous foam has at least one undulated bottom surface. The undulations of the bottom surface may be ridges defining generally parallel channels to direct water through the gutter passageway. Optionally, undulations may be provided on one side surface. Such undulations on the side surface may be ridges or other convolute cut projections that are compressible and help to secure the gutter protector under compression within the gutter passageway.

Gutter protector

A hydrophilic ester polyurethane foam is flame laminated to a substrate using a thin sacrificial layer, preferably a sacrificial foam layer. The sacrificial layer in the resulting laminate structure has a thickness of 1.5 mm or less, and preferably is substantially burnt away. The resulting laminate exhibits good bond strength along its length and width without loss of liquid wicking and absorptive properties.

Flame laminable hydrophilic ester polyurethane foams

A porous filter medium forms a filter or liner for extracting hydrocarbons from vapors emitted from a motorized vehicle, device or appliance fuel tank. The filter medium is a polymer network of a foam, nonwoven or collection of particles and has fine pore size and a butane working capacity (W/W %) of 4.0 percent or higher.

Filter materials for adsorbing hydrocarbons

Polyurethane foams formed under vacuum (below atmospheric pressure) conditions using toluene diisocyanate or a specific mixture of polyisocyanates with a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols produces a foam with lower density and better flame retardancy than latex foam, but with equally high resiliency. The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed under controlled pressures in the range 0.6 to 0.95 bar (absolute), preferably 0.8 to 0.95 bar (absolute). The resulting foam has a ball rebound above about 65 percent.

Latex replacement polyurethane foams with improved flame retardancy

Polyurethane foams formed at above atmospheric pressure conditions using methylene diisocyanate or a specific mixture of polyisocyanate and with a major portion of methylene diisocyanate (MDI) with a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols produces high density viscoelastic foams with improved hand touch (surface smoothness) that better retain viscoelasticity over time. The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed at controlled pressures in the range 1.05 to 1.5 bar (absolute), preferably 1.1 to 1.3 bar (absolute).

Fine cell, high density viscoelastic polyurethane foams

Polyurethane foams formed using a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols with toluene diisocyanate have fine cell size (over 70 pores per inch) and higher durability with IFD retention over 70% after 12,000 cycles of roll-shear. The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed at controlled pressures in the range 1.0 to 1.5 (absolute), preferably 1.05 to 1.5 bar (absolute). The foams make particularly good carpet cushions.

Polyurethane foams with fine cell size

Foaming a polyurethane foam at above atmospheric pressure conditions using a mixture of polyisocyanate and a specific mixture of low molecular weight (high OH number) polyether and graft polyols produces viscoelastic foams with high firmness, low energy losses and high temperature sensitivity such that firmness is reduced by at least 25% when the foam is heated from room temperature (e.g., about 70&deg; F. (21&deg; C.)) to 100&deg; F. (38&deg; C.). The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed at controlled pressures in the range 1.05 to 1.5 bar (absolute), preferably 1.1 to 1.3 bar (absolute).

Low energy-loss, high firmness, temperature sensitive polyurethane foams

A hinged flexible polyurethane foam protective packaging element is formed from a flexible polyurethane foam laminated to a polyethylene, polypropylene or urethane film. The flexible polyurethane foam has a density in the range of 0.7 lbs/ft to 2.8 lbs/ft and IFD in the range of 25 lbs to 270 lbs. The film has a thickness from 2 mil to 125 mil. The foam is cut through all or substantially all of its thickness without cutting through a portion of the film. The uncut portion of the film creates a repeatably bendable hinge.

Hinged flexible polyurethane foam protective packaging and shipping element

Polyurethane foams formed under vacuum (below atmospheric pressure) conditions using a specific mixture of polyisocyanate and with a major portion of methylene diisocyanate (MDI) and a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols exhibit superb static shock cushioning characteristics (energy absorption) as illustrated by drop curves of deceleration versus static load. The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed under controlled pressures in the range 0.5 to 0.90 bar (absolute), preferably 0.5 to 0.8 bar (absolute). A major portion of the MDI is 4, 4&prime; methylene diisocyanate.

Energy absorbing foams

Polyurethane foams formed under vacuum (below atmospheric pressure) conditions using methylene diisocyanate or a specific mixture of polyisocyanate and with a major portion of methylene diisocyanate (MDI) with a specific mixture of polyether and graft polyols produces cushioning foams with lower density (1.4 to 1.8 pounds per cubic foot) and higher support factor (above 2.4). The foam-forming ingredients are mixed together and foamed under controlled pressures in the range 0.5 to 0.9 bar (absolute), preferably 0.6 to 0.8 bar (absolute). A major portion of the MDI is 4,4&prime; methylene diisocyanate.

Higher support, lower density cushioning foams

Copolymer DMC-catalyzed polyoxypropylene polyols which exhibit processing latitude similar to base-catalyzed copolymer analogs and base-catalyzed homopolyoxypropylene analogs may be prepared by oxyalkylation with a mixture of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide such that a finite ethylene oxide content is maintained in the oxyalkylation reactor for the most substantial part of the oxyalkylation, the polyoxypropylene polyol having randomly distributed oxyethylene moieties which constitute 1.5 weight percent or more of the polyol product.

Molded and slab polyurethane foam prepared from double metal cyanide

Copolymer DMC-catalyzed polyoxypropylene polyols which exhibit processing latitude similar to base-catalyzed copolymer analogs and homopolyoxypropylene analogs may be prepared by oxyalkylation with a mixture of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide such that a finite ethylene oxide content is maintained in the oxyalkylation reactor for the most substantial part of the oxyalkylation, the polyoxypropylene polyol having randomly distributed oxyethylene moieties which constitute 1.5 weight percent or more of the polyol product. Block copolymer polyols having external blocks containing lesser oxyethylene content than internal blocks and bicompositional compositions containing discrete multimodal and dissimilar and optionally multimodal polyols produced by a continuous addition of starter process are useful as polyols exhibiting greater processing latitude.
