In one embodiment, a method for managing a heatsink of an information handling system includes: determining, by a controller unit of the information handling system, that a vibration event is to occur, the vibration event associated with a vibration unit of the information handling system, the controller unit communicably coupled to the vibration unit, the vibration unit removably coupled to the heatsink; and causing, by the controller unit, the vibration unit to generate the vibration event, the vibration event causing the vibration unit to apply one or more vibrations to the heatsink, the one or more vibrations causing a boundary layer of particles to be removed from a surface of the heatsink.

Managing a heatsink of an information handling system

Methods, systems, and computer-usable medium are disclosed for implementing automated adjustment of extended desktop monitor configuration settings in an information handling system (IHS) based on acoustic analysis of audio emitted from a speaker of an extended desktop monitor and received at multiple microphones of the IHS. In certain embodiments, the multiple microphones are in fixed alignment with a built-in monitor of the IHS. As such, the audio received at the multiple microphones can be used to determine the position of the extended desktop monitor with respect to the built-in monitor. Various embodiments include corresponding computer-implemented methods, computer systems, apparatus, and computer programs recorded on one or more non-transient computer storage devices.

An information handling system kickstand hinge with a minimum profile transitions a kickstand between extended and retract positions with a first axle of a stand member that slides between forward and rear positions within guides or a rail housing and a second axle of the stand member that couples to the rail housing with riser arms disposed on opposing sides of the stand member. A first torque engine integrated in the riser housing resists sliding motion of a torque member engages with the first axle. A second torque engine integrated in the stand member resists rotation about the second axle. A spring aligned with the torque member biases the stand member towards the extended position to aid in extension of the kickstand from the retracted position.

An information handling system peripheral keyboard sized to rest on an information handling display to accept key inputs has a bottom surface with a selectively opaque layer that transitions between transparent and opaque states based upon a usage scenario. For instance, the keyboard has a transparent state when placed on the display to allow light to pass through the keyboard and illuminate the keys. When removed from the display, an opaque state hides keyboard internals so as not to detract from the keyboard appearance. In one embodiment, the selectively opaque layer is an electronic ink that presents a product brand on the keyboard bottom surface when in the opaque state.

The rack translates motion between pinions by moving outward from the housing portions during rotation of the housing portions. A flexible cover over the rack stretches in response to movement of the rack to contain the hinges within the portable information handling system structure.
