The plurality of plates includes the resin plate and a plurality of metal plates. The resin plate does not have a relief groove for the adhesive. The plurality of metal plates include the eighth metal plate and/or ninth metal plate which is adhered to the resin plate and includes the relief groove for the adhesive on the resin plate side.

The lnkjet printer has a pressure chamber, a plezoelectric actuator, and a controller. The plezoelectrlc actuator has a piezoelectric film, a first electrode, a second electrode, and a third electrode. The first electrode, positioned in the region facing the pressure chamber, and the third electrode, positioned adjacent to the first electrode, are attached on one surface of the piezoeiectric film. The second electrode is attached on an opposite surface of the piezoelectric film and overlaps the first and third electrodes. To discharge ink, the controller applies an ink discharge signal between the first and second electrodes comprising an advanced voltage change from a predetermined voltage to the lower voltage and a subsequent voltage change from the lower voltage to the predetermined voltage. The controller also applies a peripheral signal between the second and thIrd electrodes to prevent changes in characteristics of the piezoelectrlc actuator that may affect ink discharge.

Inkjet printer

An inkjet printer whose ink discharge characteristic will rarely change even when used for a long period of time is developed. The inkjet printer has a pressure chamber and a piezoelectric actuator and a controller. The piezoelectric actuator has a first electrode, a first piezoelectric film, a second electrode, a second piezoelectric film, and a third electrode, and they are laminated together in this order. The piezoelectric actuator forms a portion of the wall defining the pressure chanter. The controller applies ink discharge signal between the first and second electrode, ink discharge signal comprises advanced voltage change from a predetermined voltage to the lower voltage and subsequent voltage change from the lower voltage to the predetermined voltage. Ink can be effectively discharged by applying the ink discharge signal, but the ink discharge signal could change piezoelectric characteristic in the second piezoelectric film due to the deformation of the first piezoelectric film. The additional signal applying the second piezoelectric film via the second and the third electrode can reduce the changes of the piezoelectric characteristic. As a result, changes of ink discharge characteristic can be prevented.

Actuator, its manufacturing method and printing head

An inkjet head includes a cavity unit and a piezoelectric unit stacked on the cavity unit. The cavity unit has a plurality of ink pressure chambers and a plurality of nozzles being in fluid communication with respective ones of the ink pressure chambers. The piezoelectric unit includes a laminate of four piezoelectric layers and two common electrodes. The piezoelectric unit is provided with a plurality of driving electrodes formed on a top face thereof at positions corresponding to respective ones of the pressure chambers. One of the common electrodes is provided between the upper most piezoelectric layer and the piezoelectric layer immediately therebelow so as to extend substantially over the whole area defined between those two piezoelectric layers. The other common electrode is located between the lower most piezoelectric layer and the piezoelectric layer immediately thereabove so as to extend substantially over the whole area defined therebetween.

Inkjet head

A layered unit provided with piezoelectric ceramics having an increased adhesive strength while lowering cell content in an adhesive layer, a method for producing the layered unit, and an ink jet printing head incorporated with such layered unit having improved ink emission precision and durability as well as suppressing occurrence of assembly failure at the time of producing the ink jet printing head. The layered unit has a first member made of piezoelectric ceramics, a second member which is placed over the first member, and an adhesive layer which is formed between the first member and the second member to adhere the first member and the second member. A joint surface of the first member to be jointed to the second member is formed with a multitude of recesses. A sum of opening areas of the recesses occupies 50% or more relative to a total surface area of the joint surface of the first member. Alternatively, a crystalline part comprising the joint surface of the first member is formed with a multitude of microprotrusions.

Layered unit provided with piezoelectric ceramics, method for producing the same, and ink jet printing head employing the same

A safety device having a thin plate of a brittle material adapted to be ruptured by a difference between pressures exerted on opposite sides thereof; and a conductive path provided on the thin plate and adapted to be cut off by the rupture of the thin plate. One surface of the thin plate is present in a reference pressure chamber. The safety device with its reference pressure chamber being sealed is incorporated in a secondary battery. When the secondary battery is overcharged, the pressure difference between the opposite sides of the thin plate is increased, so that the thin plate is ruptured to cut off the conductive path.
