Methods, systems, and apparatus for determining that a native application limits access to the native application using account credential requirements, the native application generating an application environment for display on a user device within the native application and operating independent of a browser application that can operate on the user device; obtaining a set of account credentials for indexing environment instances of the native application; instantiating the native application with the set of account credentials; and accessing environment instances of the native application, and for each of the environment instances: generating environment instance data describing content of the environment instance, the content described by the environment instance data including text that a user device displays on the environment instance when the user device displays the environment instance; and indexing the environment instance data for the native application in an index that is searchable by a search engine.

Indexing access limited native applications

Aspects of the disclosure provide techniques that enable a first user to add a second user to a social subnetwork of the first user's social network. In one example, a method may include discovering a second computing device associated with a second user. A first user associated with a first computing device and the second user may each be associated with a social networking service. The method may include receiving, from the second computing device, identification data associated with the second user. The method may include determining an identifier based at least in part on the identification data received from the second computing device. The identifier may identify the second user in the social networking service. The method may also include sending a request to a remote computing device to associate the second user with the social subnetwork of the first user.

Constructing social networks

A system and method for initiating instant messaging within a social networking website. In one aspect, a method includes providing for display of a post associated with a first user and a second user within the social networking website and providing for display of a graphical component within the social networking website, and the graphical component provides an interface for requesting communication related to the post by instant messaging. The method further includes receiving a request for communication related to the post by instant messaging via the graphical component and initiating instant messaging between the first user and the second user in response to the received request for communication related to the post. Method of continuing conversations on a social network over chat

A system and machine-implemented method for facilitating collaboration with one or more users including receiving a request from a first user to collaborate with a social group on a collaboration object, the social group including one or more users associated with the first user at a social networking site, generating a post providing access to the collaboration object in response to receiving the request, providing the post for display at the social networking site, receiving a request to access the collaboration object from a second user in response to the second user interacting with the post at the social networking site and providing the collaboration object for display to the second user at the social networking site in response to receiving the request from the second user, wherein the second user is able to modify the collaboration object at the social networking site.

System and method for facilitating document collaboration

In general, aspects of this disclosure are directed to techniques for initiating communications from a computing device based on messages received from short-range wireless devices. The computing device may receive, via short-range wireless communication, a message from a short-range communication device, the message including contact information of a remote computing device that is external both to the computing device and to the short-range communication device, location information associated with the short-range communication device, and authentication information usable by the computing device to authenticate the short-range communication device. Responsive to receiving the message from the short-range communication device, the computing device may authenticate the short-range communication device based on the authentication information. Responsive to the authenticating, the computing device may automatically initiate communications with the remote computing device based on the contact information. Computing device may communicate the location information associated with the short-range communication device to the remote computing device.

Initiating communications using short-range wireless communications

In general, techniques and systems for updating a user status with check-in information in a user account are described. In one example, a method includes obtaining, with a computing device, location information from a target device using near field communication (NFC), retrieving check-in information based on the location information obtained from the target device, wherein the check-in information comprises greater detail about a destination associated with the target device than the location information, and updating a user status in a user account with the check-in information. In some examples, the location information may instruct the computing device to retrieve check-in information from at least one information source different from the target device.
