Aspects of the disclosure relate to a radio frequency phase shifter. An example includes an amplification stage to produce an amplified voltage, the amplification stage having a first amplifier with a first input coupled to a first output of a hybrid coupler and a second amplifier with a complementary second input coupled to a complementary second output of the hybrid coupler. A vector modulation stage coupled to the amplification stage receives the amplified voltage and produces a modulated vector, the vector modulation stage has an in-phase section and a quadrature section to control the phase of the modulated vector in response to a phase control signal. A varactor coupled across the first input and the second input of the amplification stage adjusts the capacitance between the first input and the second input in response to a capacitance control signal.

An example apparatus includes a polyphase transconductance-capacitor filter. The polyphase filter includes a DC bias voltage node, a plus in-phase filter unit, a minus in-phase filter unit, a plus quadrature-phase filter unit, and a minus quadrature-phase filter unit. Each filter unit respectively includes an input node, an output node, and a control node. The polyphase filter also includes a plus in-phase switch and a minus in-phase switch. The plus in-phase switch is coupled to the control node of the plus in-phase filter unit, the DC bias voltage node, and the input node of one or both of the plus quadrature-phase filter unit and the minus quadrature-phase filter unit. The minus in-phase switch is coupled to the control node of the minus in-phase filter unit, the DC bias voltage node, and the input node of one or both of the plus quadrature-phase filter unit and the minus quadrature-phase filter unit.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may determine a measurement scheme or uplink mode and then transmit an indication of the scheme or uplink mode to an associated user equipment (UE). The base station may identify a set of hidden nodes for the UE and configure the UE for autonomous or grant-based uplink transmissions accordingly. A UE may initiate a channel clearance scheme by transmitting a first channel clearance signal (e.g., a request-to-send message), which may include a UE identifier before transmitting an uplink message in the unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. In response, the base station may transmit a second channel clearance signal (e.g., a clear-to-send message). In some cases, the second channel clearance signal may include control information or may be transmitted at a power level that is based on a characteristic of the UE.

An apparatus is disclosed for phase-shifting signals. In example implementations, the apparatus includes a phase shifter. The phase shifter includes a first port, a second port, a vector modulator coupled to the first port, and a signal phase generator. The signal phase generator includes multiple amplifiers coupled between the vector modulator and the second port. The signal phase generator also includes multiple capacitors that couple the multiple amplifiers together to form a loop. Each respective capacitor of the multiple capacitors is coupled between a respective pair of consecutive amplifiers of the multiple amplifiers to form the loop.

An apparatus is disclosed for bidirectional variable gain amplification. In an example aspect, an apparatus comprises an antenna element of an antenna array and a wireless transceiver. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Various autonomous uplink control channel configurations may be used for unscheduled uplink transmissions. For example, a user equipment (UE) may initiate an unscheduled uplink transmission and may identify an autonomous uplink control channel configuration for the uplink transmission. The UE may transmit control information and data during an initial transmission time interval of a transmission opportunity according to the control channel configuration, where the control channel configuration control may include a number of different waveforms and payload configurations. For example, an autonomous uplink control channel configuration may include control information frequency division multiplexed or time division multiplexed with data and transmitted in one or more frequency interlaces. In some cases, the control channel configuration may include a symbol period for a clear-to-send signal, and one or more symbol periods used a guard period before the data transmission.

In certain aspects, a receiver includes first amplifiers, wherein each one of the first amplifiers comprises an input and an output. The receiver also includes second amplifiers, wherein each one of the second amplifiers comprises an input and an output, and the outputs of the second amplifiers are coupled to a combining node. The receiver also includes transmission lines, wherein each one of the transmission lines is coupled between the output of a respective one of the first amplifiers and the input of a respective one of the second amplifiers. The receiver further includes a load coupled to the combining node, and receiver elements, wherein each one of the receiver elements comprises an input and an output, and the output of each one of the receiver elements is coupled to the input of a respective one of the first amplifiers.

The payload size for uplink transmissions of unscheduled control information may vary and, in some cases, may be dynamically determined. A user equipment (UE) may determine a payload size or may select a payload size from a set of predetermined sizes. A base station may independently determine the same payload size or it may blindly detect the payload size upon receiving the uplink (UL) transmission. Or the base station may indicate the payload size to the UE. Additionally, UL grants issued to the UE may take one of several forms (e.g., different downlink control indicator formats), and characteristics of the grant may indicate information about resources assigned by the grant, including a location of the resources among various transmission opportunities or whether the grant is for multiple subframes.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may identify a semi-static resource allocation for a device (e.g., a user equipment (UE)). The resource allocation may be associated with autonomous transmissions from the device in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band. The base station may generate and provide a message for transmission to the device. The message may convey an indication of the resource allocation. The device may receive the message and use the resource allocation to identify a transmission schedule for the autonomous transmissions.

A base station apparatus may perform a dual CCA procedure for a frame, wherein the dual CCA procedure comprises a first type of CCA procedure followed by a second type of CCA procedure when the first type of CCA procedure is unsuccessful. The apparatus may transmit during the frame when at least one CCA procedure of the dual CCA procedure is successful and may refrain from transmitting during the frame when both CCA procedures of the dual CCA procedure are unsuccessful. In performing the dual CCA procedure, the apparatus may perform CCA for a first period of time then perform eCCA for a second period of time following the CCA, when the CCA is unsuccessful.

An apparatus is disclosed for mixing signals with a multi-mode mixer for frequency translation. In example implementations, a multi-mode mixer includes a supply voltage node, a ground node, a first data signal coupler, and a second data signal coupler. The multi-mode mixer also includes a mixer core and a current control switch. The mixer core is coupled between the first data signal coupler and the second data signal coupler. The current control switch is configured to selectively enable or disable flow of a current through the mixer core. In one aspect, a method of wireless communication comprises assigning, by an access point, an interval of time for transmission on an unlicensed communication spectrum to a LTE-U device, and broadcasting an anchor signal during the interval of time on the unlicensed communication spectrum, the anchor signal comprising a paging indication for the LTE-U device. In another aspect, a method of wireless communication comprises determining, by a LTE-U device, an interval of time for reception of a paging indication on an unlicensed communication spectrum and receiving an anchor signal during the interval of time on the unlicensed communication spectrum, the anchor signal comprising the paging indication.

In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a base station. The apparatus may transmit an uplink grant to a UE during a first transmit opportunity. The apparatus may signal, during a second transmit opportunity, a grant trigger to the UE to trigger operations associated with the uplink grant that are uncompleted after the first transmit opportunity. The grant trigger may be associated with a set of UEs that includes the UE. The set of UEs may be a subset of the UEs having pending transmissions. The apparatus may instruct the UE regarding whether to keep or discard resources granted by the uplink grant when the UE switches to a different beam during or prior to the second transmit opportunity.
