Various techniques for three-dimensional trajectory prediction of a stylus are described. An input device, such as a stylus, includes an integrated Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) (e.g., 3-axis, 6-axis, 9-axis, . . . ) that generates IMU data that is used to predict a future location of the stylus (e.g., the pen tip) in relation to a surface, such as a display surface. The stylus transmits IMU data to a computing device to perform the trajectory prediction. The IMU data is analyzed (e.g., via a machine learning mechanism, or some other device/component) and a stylus state is determined to be in one of a constant velocity state, a constant acceleration state, a constant angular velocity and velocity state, or a constant angular velocity and acceleration state. A prediction model to perform the trajectory prediction can be selected based on the current state of the stylus.

Implementations relate to an automated assistant that can determine whether to respond to inputs in an environment according to whether radar data indicates a user is present. When user presence is detected, the automated assistant can virtually segment the environment and apply certain operational parameters to certain segments of the environment. For instance, the automated assistant can enable an input detection feature, such as warm word detection, for a segmented portion of the environment in which a user is detected. In this way, false positives can be mitigated for instances in which environmental and/or user sounds are detected by the automated assistant but do not originate from a particular segment of the environment. Other parameters, such as varying confidence thresholds and/or speech processing biasing, can be temporarily enforced for different segments of an environment in which a user is detected.

The present disclosure describes thermal mitigation for an electronic speaker device and associated systems and methods. The thermal mitigation includes monitoring several thermal zones to determine or estimate thermal conditions in corresponding parts of the electronic speaker device. The thermal zones may include a System-on-Chip (SoC) integrated circuit (IC) component, audio components including power-dissipating IC components, and a temperature of an exterior surface of a housing component of the electronic speaker device. To mitigate thermal runaway, different throttling schemes may be triggered based on the thermal zones exceeding certain thermal limits. The throttling schemes may include reducing the amount of power supplied to the SoC, reducing audio power of the audio components to a lower wattage, or manipulating SoC cores such as by disabling one or more of the cores or adjusting utilization of the SoC cores.

Thermal mitigation for an electronic speaker device and associated apparatuses and methods

This application is directed to a method for correct temperature measurement. An electronic device includes a temperature sensor that measures an ambient temperature of an environment and a display that is driven by a display driver. The electronic device determines a brightness setting of the display, estimates a display driver current based on the brightness setting, estimates a driver efficiency of the display driver based on the display driver current, and combines a predetermined display driver voltage, the display driver current, and the driver efficiency to determine a power consumption of the display driver. An ambient temperature correction is determined in accordance with the determined power consumption of the display driver, and the measured ambient temperature is thereby corrected using the ambient temperature correction. In some implementations, a power consumption of a distinct heat-generating electronic component is also monitored for adjusting the ambient temperature correction.

Systems and methods for adjusting light emitted from a display of a device are provided. The adjusting includes obtaining, from light of an environment detected by at least one sensor, a measured color of light of the environment, and obtaining, from light of the environment detected by at least one sensor, a measured brightness of light of the environment. In response to the obtaining the measured color and the measured brightness of light, a color of light emitted from the display is adjusted from an initial color to a target color. A brightness of light emitted from the display is adjusted from an initial brightness to a target brightness.

Systems and methods for adjusting light emitted from a display

Systems and methods for adjusting light emitted from a display of a device are provided. The adjusting includes obtaining, from light of an environment detected by at least one sensor, a measured color of light of the environment, and obtaining, from light of the environment detected by at least one sensor, a measured brightness of light of the environment. In response to the obtaining the measured color and the measured brightness of light, a color of light emitted from the display is adjusted from an initial color prior to the adjusting to a target color that matches the measured color. Further, a brightness of light emitted from the display is adjusted from an initial brightness emitted by the display prior to the adjusting to a target brightness that matches the measured brightness of light.

An augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR) system employs a tracking system for tracking one or more components of the AR/VR system using a generated electromagnetic (EM) field. The tracking system employs an EM coil for generating the EM field or, alternatively, sensing the EM field. The EM coil includes a core substrate and thin metal foil wrapped around the core substrate in three orthogonal axes. The EM coil is effectively 'hollow' in that it weighs less than a conventional solid ferrite or ferrous core of comparable dimensions, either through the use of one or more openings formed in the core substrate, the use of a material less dense than ferrite or ferrous materials, the formation of the core substrate as a hollow framework, or a combination thereof. The resulting EM coil thus weighs less than conventional solid-core EM coils, thereby reducing user fatigue and the possibility of misalignment of the EM coil as a result from a drop impact of the device implementing the EM coil.

Techniques of tracking a hand controller in a VR system involves detecting, by photodiodes in the hand controller, patterns of diffuse radiation generated by diffuse LEDs in the HMD. Such techniques can also include comparing the detected patterns to those simulated offline previously and represented in a lookup table (LUT). By looking up the detected patterns in the LUT, the VR system may determine the position and/or orientation of the hand controller with sub-millimeter accuracy. Some advantages of the improved techniques can be in the simplicity and/or low cost of the components without sacrificing accuracy in deriving the position and orientation of the hand controller.
