A lens structure and a 3D display device having the same are provided. The lens structure has unit regions. Each unit region includes upper and lower substrates, an anisotropic birefringence medium, center electrodes, edge electrodes and at least one set of side electrodes. The upper and the lower substrates are disposed oppositely to each other. The anisotropic birefringence medium is located between the upper and lower substrates. The center electrodes, the edge electrodes and the at least one set of side electrodes are located on the upper and lower substrates. The edge electrodes are disposed corresponding to the center electrodes. The at least one set of side electrodes are disposed between the center electrodes and the edge electrodes. An electric field distribution is formed between the center electrodes, the edge electrodes and the at least one set of side electrodes, so that the anisotropic birefringence medium constitutes a Fresnel lens.

Lens structure and 3D display device having the same

A stereoscopic display and a driving method are disclosed herein. The stereoscopic display includes a sensor, a barrier cell, and a control unit. The sensor is configured to detect a user to generate a sensing signal. The barrier cell is configured to generate a 3D image with a 2D image. The barrier cell includes barrier pitches disposed in parallel. Each of the barrier pitches includes switchable barrier units. The control unit is configured to generate control signals to adjust the switchable barrier units according to the sensing signal, so as to make at least one of the switchable barrier units of each of barrier pitches form a shading zone, to make the switchable barrier units disposed at the two adjacent sides of the shading zone form a gray level zone, and to make the rest of the switchable barrier units in the same barrier pitch form a photic zone.

Stereoscopic display having a gray level zone and a method for driving the same

A stereoscopic display including a display panel and a barrier panel is provided. The barrier panel is at one side of the display panel. The barrier panel includes first and second substrates, first and second patterned electrode layers, and a liquid crystal layer between the first and second patterned electrode layers. The first patterned electrode layer is on the first substrate, and includes first electrodes having a first line-width. A gap between the adjacent first electrodes is a first spacing, and a first pitch is a sum of the first spacing and pitch. The second patterned electrode layer is on the second substrate, includes second electrodes having the first line-width. The gap between the adjacent second electrodes is the first spacing, the first and second electrodes are staggered to each other, and a shift in a horizontal direction between the first and second electrodes is half of the first pitch.

Stereoscopic display and stereoscopic display device

A display apparatus includes a display panel, a polarization converting unit, a first micro-lens layer and a second micro-lens layer. The polarization converting unit is disposed on the display panel. The first micro-lens layer is disposed on the polarization converting unit and includes a plurality of first lenticular lenses parallel with and adjacent to each other. A first adjacent edge is formed between each two adjacent first lenticular lenses. The second micro-lens layer is disposed on the first micro-lens layer and includes a plurality of second lenticular lenses parallel with and adjacent to each other. A second adjacent edge is formed between each two adjacent second lenticular lenses. The first and second lenticular lenses are extended in a same direction and have a same width. There is an interval between an axis center line of each second lenticular lens and an axis center line of each first lenticular lens.

Display apparatus

At least one characteristic of an object is captured at a first instant and the at least one characteristic of the object is then captured at a second instant. A moving direction and a moving speed of the object are calculated according to the at least one characteristic of the object captured respectively at the first instant and the second instant. A left view image and a right view image are projected to the object and if the moving speed of the object is greater than a threshold, a center point of the left view image and the right view image deviates from a center line of the object.
