Liquid-crystal compounds, liquid-crystal compositions, and liquid-crystal devices employing the same are provided. The liquid-crystal compound has a structure of Formula (I): wherein Ris hydrogen, Calkyl, or Calkenyl; Ris, Calkenyl, or Cfluoroalkenyl, in which one or two nonadjacent &#x2014;CH&#x2014; is replaced by &#x2014;O&#x2014;, or Cether; A, A, A, and Aare independently Ris independently hydrogen, or halogen; Z, Z, and Zare independently single bond, &#x2014;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;CHO&#x2014;, &#x2014;OCH&#x2014;, &#x2014;CF&#x2550;CF&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CH)CFO&#x2014;, &#x2014;(CH)OCF&#x2014;, &#x2014;OCF(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;CFO(CH)&#x2014;, &#x2014;COO&#x2014;, &#x2014;OCO&#x2014;, &#x2014;CFO&#x2014;, &#x2014;OCF&#x2014;, &#x2014;C&#x2261;C&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2550;CH&#x2014;, &#x2014;CH&#x2550;CH&#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;, or &#x2014;(CH)&#x2014;CH&#x2550;CH&#x2014;; and n and m are independently 1 or 0.
