An expansion device is disclosed which includes an input/output body, a connection part, a turning structure, and at least one slot. The input/output body at least includes a first and a second input/output module, where the first and the second input/output modules are respectively disposed on two opposite surfaces of the input/output body. The connection part is disposed on one side of the input/output body. The turning structure is disposed to connect the input/output body and the connection part, wherein the connection part and the input/output body are turnable on the turning structure. The at least one slot is disposed on the connection part and configured to hold at least one mobile device.

A holding device for mobile products includes a first holding frame and a second holding frame, and the first holding frame is provided for holding a first mobile product and the second holding frame is provided for holding a second mobile product. The first holding frame and the second holding frame are configured to be electrically connected by a wire connection or a wireless connection. When the first holding frame and the second holding frame are holding the first and second mobile products respectively, the mobile products can be electrically connected through the first holding frame and the second holding frame to add functionality to each of the mobile products.

In a dynamic database association method, a static contact list is dynamically associated with a dynamic instant messenger contact list so that a user of a first database may access a contact list of a second database with associative links between said first and second databases. The user is also prevented from searching both the first and second databases simultaneously. Moreover, in the abovementioned dynamic database association method, a unified user interface is utilized for integrating management of at least two databases, where each of the at least two databases is operated under a different communication network. Therefore, the defect of inconveniencing the user by utilizing different user interfaces for different databases is avoided.

In a computer database synchronization method, a first database with first object data and a second database with second object data are established in a personal computer and an electronic dictionary, respectively. First and second synchronization status tables are established for each of the first and second object data, respectively. The synchronization status tables are modified from a first state, indicating that the corresponding object data is synchronized with the first or second database, to a second state, indicating that the corresponding object data is not synchronized with the first or second database, when the corresponding object data is edited. Synchronizing of the first and second databases can begin when a communications link is established between the personal computer and the electronic dictionary. During synchronizing, the personal computer retrieves the second synchronization status tables from the electronic dictionary, and compares the second synchronization status tables with the corresponding first synchronization status tables. Based on the results of the comparison, the personal computer retrieves the corresponding second object data from the electronic dictionary, and updates the first database with the retrieved second object data, or transmits the corresponding first object data to the electronic dictionary for updating the second database with the transmitted first object data.

Computer database synchronization method

Disclosed is a method and apparatus for displaying (simulating) grayscale images on a monochrome LCD screen particularly with an objective of providing a comfortable displaying effect that presents no blinking of dots to the user's eyes. In the method, the grayscale image is divided into a sequence of pages of image data each having an array of dots equal to the resolution of the grayscale image such that each pixel on the grayscale image corresponds to a sequence of dots respectively on the corresponding location on the N-1 pages of image data. Black and white colors are assigned to the dots in accordance with a color assignment algorithm that allows the black and white colors to be evenly distributed. When the pages are displayed in succession at a fast rate on the monochrome screen to simulate grayscale image, the black dots or white dots appear evenly on each page so that blinking of dots would not present to the user's eyes.

An electronic device for providing information related to an input telephone number includes a keyboard unit for providing an input telephone number and a memory unit for storing an IDDD code and a database including country code entries, country name entries which correspond to the country code entries, area code entries, area name entries which correspond to the country code entries, and information related to each of the country name and the area name entries. A central processing unit receives the input telephone number from the keyboard unit and compares the received input telephone number with the contents of the memory unit. The central processing unit then controls a display unit to show the input telephone number, the country name entry and the area name entry corresponding to the input telephone number, and the information related to the country name entry and the area name entry corresponding to the input telephone number. The electronic device is intended for use with another electronic device which is capable of dialing or storing telephone numbers.
