The present invention provides a method and apparatus for de-interlacing video data by using a horizontal motion vector of a horizontal motion between fields. The horizontal motion regarding a target pixel of a frame is compensated if the horizontal motion vector is found to be substantially not null according to the pixels residing in the fields determined by the horizontal motion vector. This results in an upgraded quality of image after the de-interlacing process.

Method and apparatus for de-interlacing video data

An interpolation method, applied to image pictures, for interpolating at least one pixel into a position to be interpolated in a target image frame is disclosed. The interpolation method includes receiving a plurality of image fields having a corresponding image object, estimating a motion speed of the image object according to a distance between a first pixel position to which the image object located in a first image field of the plurality of image fields and a second pixel position to which the image object located in a second image field of the plurality of image fields, determining the pixel from the plurality of image fields according to the motion speed of the image object, and interpolating the pixel into the position to be interpolated in the target image frame.

The present invention provides de-interlacing methods and related apparatuses. One of the proposed de-interlacing methods includes edge detection of a target region corresponding to a target position. When the target region is assumed to include an edge that is considered stationary, and if the target position is on a stationary side of the edge, then a pixel value for the target position is generated by inter-field interpolation.

The present invention provides a video detecting device including a first pixel detector, a second pixel detector, and a determining unit. The first pixel detector compares the intensity of a target pixel of a target scan line in a first field with the intensity of first comparing pixels of scan lines corresponding to the target scan line in a second field to generate a first detection value corresponding to the target pixel. The edge detection module performs an edge detection operation on a plurality of pixels of an image so as to generate edge information corresponding to the image. The statistics module performs a detection window based statistics operation on the edge information so as to generate statistics information corresponding to the image. The interpolation circuit interpolates the image according to the statistics information so as to generate an intra-field interpolation signal corresponding to the image.
