Provided herein is a printer comprising a printing assembly. The printing assembly comprises a printhead bracket fixedly attached to the printer, a printhead that defines a groove, the printhead aligned at a first alignment, an alignment adjuster fastened between the printhead bracket and the printhead, and a plurality of fasteners operatively engaged with the alignment adjuster. The alignment adjuster comprises a gear rack that is adjacent to the printhead bracket, and a protrusion that is received by the groove of the printhead. The plurality of fasteners comprises at least one selected from a group of a lateral adjustment fastener operatively engaged with the gear rack, and a rotational adjustment fastener operatively engaged with a transverse edge of the printhead. The lateral adjustment fastener is configured to provide lateral movement to the alignment adjuster and the printhead. The rotational adjustment fastener is configured to provide rotational movement to the printhead.

Optimal alignment of a printhead in a thermal printing apparatus

The present invention embraces printers such as hand-held printers and mobile/portable printer. One exemplary embodiment includes 'print as you glide' (PAYG) devices. Such printers may comprise a modular print engine that is removable from the printer and may allow a user to easily access and load the ribbon in the mobile print engine. The modular print engine may comprise a modular print head and an encoder that may determine the movement of the print head relative to a stationary media. When a printer is pressed against the media, the print head's burn line may be resting on the media. When the printer is stationary relative to the media, the encoder may not trigger the printing. Once PAYG is being slid or glided across the media, the encoder may start to rotate and then send a signal to a processor, causing the printer to start printing.

Method and apparatus for printing

A media holder assembly () includes a base () secured to a platform (). The platform () has a central cylindrical depression (). A first hub () protrudes from the center of the depression (). A first spring (), concentric to the first hub () biases a second, ring-shaped hub () which is fitted over the first spring (). The second hub () is slidably engaged to the first hub (). A second spring (), concentric to the first hub () and sized to fit around the second hub (), biases a third, ring-shaped hub () which is fitted over the second spring (). The third hub () is slidably engaged to the second hub () and to the inner wall () of the cylindrical depression (). The first hub (), the second hub (), and the third hub () are sized to accommodate media rolls of different sizes.

Multiple size media holder assembly for a mobile printer

Provided herein is a printing apparatus that includes a printhead assembly and a plurality of printhead pressure load modules that are adjustable on a shaft of a printhead pressure load assembly and engaged with a printhead member. The printhead pressure load module has a hollow housing, a plunger member, and a rotary cam. The plunger member and the rotary cam are movably engaged in the hollow housing. The rotary cam includes a plurality of channel members defined at an outer surface. Each channel member has a depth that is different from a depth of an adjacent channel member. A movement of the plunger member inwardly through the hollow housing defines a position of the rotary cam along the longitudinal axis with respect to the hollow housing. Position change of the rotary cam defines a force that acts on a pressure contact member and adjusts a load on the printhead assembly.

Printhead pressure adjustment for a printing apparatus

Sealing assemblies for preventing water intrusion into the interior of a casing are provided. In one exemplary implementation, a water-resistant casing comprises a sealing element over-molded on a wall, wherein the sealing element includes a first feature and a second feature. The water-resistant casing includes a top section constrained in a lower position by the first feature of the sealing element. The water-resistant casing further includes a bottom section constrained in an upper position by the second feature of the sealing element.

Apparatus for sealing an enclosure

A self-strip media module in a printer is provided. The self-strip media module includes a peel bar having a length at least as great as the length of a platen roller and being rotatably engaged at the ends of the platen roller. The media includes a series of labels adhered to a liner. The media is fed over the peel bar and between the platen roller and a mid-chassis. The peel bar may be rotated towards the discharge side of the platen roller, pulling the media over the platen roller and over itself. A thermal print head is lowered onto the media over the platen roller and to print on the labels. The printer advances the media over the peel bar. The labels are stripped from the liner when the media advances around the peel bar.

Self-strip media module

A printer with a single motor system to match torques between ribbon supply and ribbon take-up is provided. The printer comprises a ribbon supply spindle, a take-up ribbon spindle, sensors to output ribbon width and diameter at ribbon supply, and a sensor which outputs ribbon diameter at ribbon take-up. The printer is provided with a drive system providing rotation to the ribbon supply via tension on the ribbon loaded on the ribbon supply spindle and taken-up on the take-up ribbon spindle. Firmware, communicatively linked to the sensors and the drive system, is configured to calculate ribbon tension at the ribbon supply spindle, to calculate the torque required on the ribbon on the ribbon take-up spindle to match the ribbon tension at the take-up spindle to the ribbon tension at the ribbon supply spindle, and to adjust the drive system to match these torques.

Single motor dynamic ribbon feedback system for a printer

A method and apparatus for printer compensation is disclosed. A label stop sensor (LSS) detects a time T(1) associated with an initial label position near the beginning of a print job. The label stop sensor detects a time T(L) associated with a label position that is L labels later in the print job. From at least the times T(1) and T(L) and a printer media feed rate a processor calculates a difference between the initial label position and the later label position. A start adjustment factor is compensated by the difference between the initial label position and the later label position to account for changes in print position between the first label and the later label.
