An electrical connector ( ) for connecting a land grid array (LGA) chip ( ) with a printed circuit board includes a housing ( ) and terminals ( ) received in the housing. Two cylindrical posts ( ) extend upwardly from diagonally opposite corners of the housing. Two recesses ( ) are defined in diagonally opposite corners of the LGA chip. The LGA chip is inserted into the LGA connector, with the recesses interferentially receiving the posts. Thus the LGA chip is securely mounted on the housing, with the posts and the recesses cooperating to precisely position the LGA chip on the LGA connector. This ensures that engagement between contact pads ( ) of the LGA chip and the terminals is highly accurate and reliable. Further, the posts are sized differently from each other, and the recesses are correspondingly sized differently from each other. Mismating of the LGA chip with the LGA connector is prevented.

Electrical connector with retention posts

An electrical connector comprises a base receiving a number of contacts therein, a cover movably attached to the base, a frame defining a square central chamber for accommodating the base and the cover therein, and a driving mechanism disposed at a selected corner of the frame. The driving mechanism comprises a slider and a driver engaged together. The slider is generally L-shaped and defines a through slot at a corner thereof. The driver comprises a handle and an elliptical cam. The elliptical cam is disposed in the slider via the through slot thereof. When the driver is rotated in a predetermined direction, the cam pushes the slider to move along a diagonal direction of the frame, whereby the cover is moved relative to the base along the diagonal direction.

Electrical connector

A pick-up device is mountable to an electrical connector for facilitating pneumatic handling thereof. The connector has a receiving slot defined by two side walls and a bottom wall connecting therebetween. The pick-up device includes a base plate having a substantially flat top face engageable by a suction cup and a bottom face positioned on top edges of the side walls of the connector. A post extends from the bottom face of the base plate and is inserted into the receiving slot with a free end thereof received in and interferentially engaging with a bore defined in the bottom wall of the connector thereby securing the pick-up device to the connector. The pick-up device may further include two resilient arms extending from the bottom face of the base plate on opposite sides of the post. Each resilient arm has a J-shaped free end for engaging with a corresponding hole defined in the bottom wall of the connector. Each J-shaped free end has an inclined section for guiding the free end into the corresponding hole. The bottom face of the base plate forms contacting means engaging with inside faces of the side walls for firmly supporting the pick-up device on the connector.

Vacuum suction pick-up device mountable to electrical connector

A foldable supporting bracket assembly for use with a connector comprises a supporting bracket having a mounting joint at each end thereof, and a supporting pillar pivotably assembled to the mounting joint. Interengaging means for securely positioning the supporting pillar with respect to the mounting joint includes a raised portion integrally formed at a base wall of the pillar. The raised portion defines a directing passage therethrough. A block portion is integrally formed between lugs of the mounting joint and defines a retaining passage therethrough. A latch tab is inserted through the directing passage and the retaining passage thereby securely positioning the supporting pillar with respect to the mounting joint.

Foldable supporting bracket assembly

An electrical card edge connector for electrically connecting daughter boards of different thickness to a circuit board, comprises an insulative housing having a slot for receiving the daughter board therein, and a pair of spaced towers respectively adjacent to opposite ends of said slot wherein each tower further includes a pair of spaced rails for guiding the insertion of the daughter board into the slot, and a receiving portion defined above the rails by an interior wall and a pair of spaced stop walls. A rotatable first retention means is located at a top end of each tower for rotatably moving to vertically and releasably retain the daughter board inserted into the slot. A second retention means includes an attachment portion for retaining the second retention means within the receiving portion of each tower, and a pair of spaced spring arms supported by the stop walls to horizontally and elastically clamp the inserted daughter board therebetween. By means of the first and second retention means, daughter boards of different thickness are provided with sufficient and reliable multi-directional retention within the slot of the housing.

Card edge connector with board retention means

A device for fixing an electric connector to a mother board is disclosed. The device includes a mounting flange integrally formed at a bottom corner of the electric connector, a nut having a hexagonal head portion and a neck portion, and a bolt. The mounting flange defines a nut receiving hole having a hexagonal hole portion and forms a locking tooth extending into the nut receiving hole. When the nut is pressed into the nut receiving hole to reach a position in which the hexagonal head portion fits the hexagonal hole portion, the nut is fixedly locked in position by the locking tooth engaging with the neck portion of the nut. The bolt extends from a bottom through the mother board to threadedly engage with the nut fixedly received in the nut receiving hole to firmly fix the connector to the mother board.

Electric connector fixing device

An electrical connector for reliably and electrically connecting a daughter board and a mother board, includes a first housing (10), a second housing (20) and a pair of board retaining means (30) wherein said second housing (20) is integrally formed with two opposed supporting portions (21, 22) which each further has a pair of spaced guiding rails (211, 221) for respectively guiding and clamping two opposed edges of the daughter board (40). A cavity portion (23, 24) is defined with a horizontal cavity (231, 241) and a vertical cavity (232, 242). Each board retaining means (30) is defined with an acting portion (31), a first resilient portion (32), a latching portion (33), a second resilient portion (34) and a retentive portion (35) for efficiently locking the inserted daughter board to maintain a reliably electrical contact between the daughter board and the electrical connector.

Electrical connector with a board retaining means

A heat dissipating electrical apparatus (200) comprises a heat dissipation device (30) mounted to a substrate (99) and fastened to an electrical device (21) mounted on a daughter board (20) received in an electrical connector (10). A plurality of first heat dissipation fins (34) are formed in a matrix arrangement and extend from a main body (31) of the heat dissipation device (30). Two second heat dissipation fins (35) extend from opposite lower corners of the main body (31) of the heat dissipation device (30). The second fins (35) each define holes (36) in free ends thereof corresponding to holes defined in the substrate (99) for receiving fixing elements (40) to stably mount the heat dissipation device (30) to the substrate (99). Alternatively, the second fins (65) extend from an entire lower portion of the main body (61) of the heat dissipation device (60). The second fins (65) are sandwiched between retaining bars (55) and the fixing elements (50) is received in holes (66) defined in each of the outermost second fins (65), the retaining bars (55), and the substrate thereby stably mounting the heat dissipation device to the substrate (99) without exerting a significant force on the electrical connector (10). Therefore, interference with signals of the electrical device is prevented.

Heat dissipating electrical apparatus

A socket connector for a chip is disclosed. The socket connector for a chip comprises an insulating housing defining a mating surface and a soldering surface, including a plurality of through cavities communicating the mating surface and the soldering surface; a plurality of conductive contacts received in the through cavities, including a soldering section, a fixing section and a contacting section; and anti-wicking means including at least one attaching portion for attaching to the housing and a shielding portion for sealing up the bottom of the cavities to prevent entrance of contaminants therefrom.

Socket connector for a chip

A ZIF connector (10) includes a base (303), a cover (100) and an actuation device (200) wherein a rotation bar of the actuation device (200) includes at least an engagement slot (215) for receiving an external tool (30) therein to actuate the cover (100) with the attached CPU (20) thereon to move back-and-forth and thus to engage or disengage the pins of the CPU component with or from the corresponding contacts of the socket connector (10) whereby such external tool (30) may be removed from the engagement slot (215) after the movement of the cover (100), and therefore no lever of the actuation device is required, thus saving the available space on the PC board on which the connector is mounted.

ZIF PGA socket

A ZIF PGA socket (10) includes a base (12) and a slidable cover (18) attached thereon wherein a plurality of first passageways (14) extend through the base (12), and a corresponding number of second passageways (20) extend through the cover (18) in alignment with the first passageways (14), respectively. A tool receiving structure is formed on the base (12) and the cover (18), respectively, and includes expansion sections (28, 30) respectively integrally formed on the rear side of the base (12) and the cover (18) wherein each expansion section (28, 30) further includes a receiving slot (32, 34) extending in a lateral direction so that the cover (18) can be actuated to be moved in a front-to-end direction by inserting a flat or plate tool (38) into both the receiving slots (32, 34) of the base (12) and of the cover (18) and successively rearwardly or forwardly swinging such flat tool (38) in the slots (32, 34) wherein this pivotal movement of the flat tool (38) generally has its pivot point set around the bottom surface (36) of the receiving slot (32) of the base (12).

Simplified socket for ZIF PGA

A chip carrier socket (10) for use with the LGA chip (110), includes a base (12) having an internal cavity (15) for receiving therein a cover (14) hinged to the base (12) whereby the LGA chip (110) may be sandwiched between the cover (14) and the base (12). A plurality of passageways (22) are formed in the base (12) in a vertical direction for receiving a corresponding number of contacts (100) therein. The cover (14) is moved with regard to the base (12) in both vertical and horizontal directions so that when the socket (10) is in a closed state, the contacts (100) of the socket (10) may abut against the corresponding landing plates (112) disposed on the undersurface of the LGA chip (110) for interconnection.
