The disclosure provides a method and a polar code decoder for determining a to-be-flipped bit position when performing a successive cancellation list flip operation. The method includes: obtaining a polar code decoding tree generated by performing a successive cancellation list (SCL) operation on a polar code segment, and the polar code segment includes multiple bit positions, and each bit position in the polar code decoding tree includes multiple surviving paths and multiple pruned paths; in a post-processing stage for the SCL operation, estimating a correct path probability of each of the surviving paths and the pruned paths of the i-th bit position and accordingly estimating a reliability for the i-th bit position; selecting a specific bit position among the bit positions based on the reliability of each bit position; and performing an SCL flip operation on the polar code decoding tree based on the specific bit position.

The disclosure provides a power allocation method for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems and a base station thereof. The method includes the following steps: receiving a first channel estimation error parameter from first user equipment, and receiving a second channel estimation error parameter from second user equipment; configuring a first minimum rate requirement of the first user equipment and a second minimum rate requirement of the second user equipment; determining a power allocation factor according to the first channel estimation error parameter, the second channel estimation error parameter, the first minimum rate requirement, and the second minimum rate requirement; and determining first transmission power for the first user equipment and second transmission power for the second user equipment according to the power allocation factor.

Power allocation method for non-orthogonal multiple access system and base station using the same

The invention discloses a base station and a modulation method supporting lattice-partition-based downlink non-orthogonal multiple access. The modulation method includes: modulating at least one most significant bit (MSB) of weak user equipment (UE) into a first signal with first transmission power; modulating at least one least significant bit (LSB) of the weak UE into a second signal with second transmission power, where the second transmission power is less than the first transmission power; and modulating at least one second MSB of strong UE into a third signal with third transmission power, where the third transmission power is between the first transmission power and the second transmission power.

Base station and modulation method supporting lattice-partition-based non-orthogonal multiple access

A successive cancellation list-based decoder and a decoding method thereof are provided. In the method, an error check is performed on a set of data bits. A data unit includes the set of the data bits and at least one first check bit. Part of the set of data bits are considered as at least one second check bit. At each of the second check bits, its previous error-check result are verified, where the verified result is related to a comparison between each of the previous first check bits and a value obtained through a function calculation on corresponding data bits. The verified result at each of the second check bits determines whether to continue decoding of the set of data bits or to early terminate the decoding process. The method is able to increase the probability for early termination of the decoding process and to improve the decoding efficiency.

Successive cancellation list-based decoder and decoding method thereof

A beam pattern design method is adapted to an antenna array system. An antenna array of the antenna array system includes a plurality of antenna devices. The beam pattern design method includes the following procedures. A plurality of first virtual beamforming vectors having a first resolution are set. Each of the plurality of first virtual beamforming vectors corresponds to all the antenna devices in the antenna array. Corresponding weights are respectively assigned to phases of the plurality of first virtual beamforming vectors to generate a plurality of correspondingly weighted first virtual beamforming vectors. The plurality of correspondingly weighted first virtual beamforming vectors are linearly combined to synthesize a provisional vector having a second resolution. The phase of each element in the provisional vector is extracted, and a fixed amplitude is provided to the extracted phase of each element in the provisional vector to generate a final beamforming vector.

Multi-resolution beam pattern design method of antenna array system

The disclosure provides a user selection method for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems and a base station thereof. The method includes: (1) initializing the cluster-partition parameter i to be 2; (2) dividing N user devices into i clusters; (3) selecting a reference device from each of the i clusters to form a reference cluster; (4) performing a power allocation algorithm for the reference cluster to calculate a power allocation factor for each of the reference devices; (5) determining whether each of the reference devices with the calculated power allocation factors meets a set of constraints: if all of the reference devices meet the set of constraints, increasing the value of i by 1 and then going back to step (2); if any one of the reference devices does not meet the set of constraints and i is not equal to 2, performing NOMA transmission for the reference cluster.

A beam alignment method for an antenna array is provided. In the method, a base station uses multi-modal beam patterns for transmitting several synchronization signals. User equipment scans the synchronization signals, determines a synchronization signal with the strongest received power and a receive beam direction corresponding thereto, and transmits an initial access message including index information indicating the strongest synchronization signal. The base station receives the initial access message on the random access channel by using the single-modal beam patterns, determines a single-modal beam pattern with the strongest access power for the initial access message, and compares the determined single-modal beam pattern with the strongest access power with a main lobe of the multi-modal beam pattern corresponding to the index information indicating the synchronization signal with the strongest received power in the initial access message, to determine an optimal beam direction for the transmission to the user equipment.

A filter bank multicarrier communication system is proposed. The system adopts the real-valued discrete Hartley transform for both multicarrier modulation and demodulation, rather than the complex-valued inverse discrete Fourier transform for multicarrier modulation and the discrete Fourier transform for multicarrier demodulation in conventional filter bank multicarrier schemes, so as to reduce implementation complexity and to enhance system performance.

This invention provides a joint user clustering and power allocation method and a base station using the same. They are applicable to cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems. The method includes: sorting K user equipment devices (UEs) according to the K channel gains between the base station and the K UEs, and then establishing a strong user candidate group of K/2 UEs and a weak user candidate group of K/2 UEs; pairing each of the UEs in the strong user candidate group with each of the UEs in the weak user candidate group so as to divide the K UEs into K/2 clusters, where the power allocation coefficients for each pair of UEs are also calculated during the paring process; and transmitting messages to the K UEs based on the calculated power allocation coefficients of the K/2 clusters.

This invention provides a relay precoder selection method for two-way amplify-and-forward multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay systems and communication devices using the selection method or the selected relay precoder. According to the relationship between a relay precoder and the singular values of the effective MIMO channels, a set of candidate relay precoders are constructed based on the singular vector subspaces of cascaded MIMO channels, and one of them is selected for meeting a specific design criterion, such as the minimum sum of mean-squared errors, the maximum sum of channel capacities, and the minimum or maximum sum of condition numbers, where the condition number is defined as the ratio of the largest to the smallest singular value of a MIMO channel. As compared with the iterative design methods with the best performance, this invention achieves close performance while requiring much lower computational complexity.

This invention provides a joint power allocation, precoding, and decoding method and a base station thereof. They are applicable to multiple-input multiple-output non-orthogonal multiple access (MIMO-NOMA) systems. The method includes: (1) decomposing the precoder for each cluster into a first precoder and a second precoder; (2) obtaining the mean-squared error (MSE) functions of the decoded signals for all user equipment devices in each cluster; (3) calculating the power allocation factors for each cluster in the case of minimizing the maximum of all the MSE functions in each cluster; and (4) obtaining the second precoder and the decoders for each cluster in the case of minimizing a sum of the MSE functions of the decoded signals for all user equipment devices in all clusters under a total power constraint according to the power allocation factors.
