In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a network arrangement and an email arrangement. The network arrangement is configured to enable the apparatus to communicate across a network. The email arrangement cooperates with the network arrangement to send and to receive emails. The email arrangement includes presence logic that monitors user interaction based presence with respect to a first email.

Method and apparatus for incorporating user interaction based presence in email systems

A method in one example embodiment includes identifying a power state and a battery level of a vehicle. The method also includes allocating power to critical applications (for example) in response to determining that the battery level is above a reserve threshold while the power state of the vehicle is engine-off. The method also includes allocating remaining power in excess of the reserve threshold to non-critical applications according to a power management policy. The power management policy may comprise at least one of a user power preference index and an application power preference index.

System and method for applications management in a networked vehicular environment

In one embodiment, a method is provided that includes receiving a transmitted combined video and closed caption (CC) signal. The combined signal is separated into a CC signal and a video signal. The CC signal is converted into an original CC text stream. The method also includes translating the original CC text stream from a first language into a second language to from a translated CC text stream. In more specific embodiments, the method includes inserting each translated CC text stream into the video signal. The translated CC text can appear instead of the original CC text when the video signal is displayed.

In one embodiment, a signal transmission authentication apparatus includes an input operable to receive a changing signal, a first extractor operable to extract first phoneme data from the received changing signal, a first generator including logic operable to generate first data representative of the extracted first phoneme data, a first output operable to communicate output data corresponding to the received changing signal and the first data from an associated transmitter to an associated receiver, a second extractor associated with the receiver including logic operable to extract second phoneme data from the received output data via the receiver and regenerate the first phoneme data from the received first data, a comparator including logic operable to generate a comparison signal in accordance with a comparison of the first and second phoneme data, and a second output operable to generate a signal corresponding to authenticity of the received changing signal in accordance with an output of the comparator.
