A range finder includes a prism module and a prism adjusting mechanism. The prism module includes a fixing prism group and a movable prism group, wherein the fixing prism group is adjacent to the movable prism group. The prism adjusting mechanism includes a first adjusting group and a second adjusting group, wherein the first adjusting group includes a first adjusting member and a second adjusting member, and the second adjusting group includes a third adjusting member. The first adjusting member or the second adjusting member is rotated to axially move so that the movable prism group is rotated with respect to the fixing prism group about a first axis, the third adjusting member is rotated to axially move so that the movable prism group is rotated with respect to the fixing prism group about a second axis, and the first axis is perpendicular to the second axis.

Range finder

A range finder includes a laser transmitter, a laser receiver, a large-aperture objective lens unit, an image sensing device, a display device and a microphone. The laser transmitter is configured to emit a laser beam to a measured object. The laser receiver is configured to receive a reflected laser beam reflected by the measured object. The objective lens unit is configured to allow visible light reflected by the measured object to pass therethrough, includes an objective lens and a focusing lens and has a length defined by the objective lens and the focusing lens. The image sensing device is configured to receive the visible light passing through the objective lens and generate an image signal. The length is constant when the objective lens unit is moved with respect to the image sensing device for focusing operation.

A WDM coupler includes an optical collimating module disposed in an outer tube unit. The optical collimating module includes adhesive bonds made from UV-curing epoxy for bonding together an optical filter component and a first collimating lens, the optical filter component and a second collimating lens, the first collimating lens and a first fiber pigtail, and the second collimating lens and a second fiber pigtail. A method for making the WDM coupler is also disclosed.

Wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) coupler and method for making the same

A fiber container receiving optical fibers has a body, a space defined in the body, a reel disposed inside the body, wherein a groove is defined around the periphery of the reel. The optical fibers are twisted around the reel and received in the groove. Furthermore, the fiber container is able to apply to the active/passive optical communication device, such as an erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) or a dense wavelength division multiplexer (DWDM).

A method of fabricating a WDM unit consists of attaching a first and a second GRIN lenses to opposite faces of a WDM filter. A dual fiber pigtail and a single fiber pigtail are mounted in corresponding glass tubes. The glass tube with the dual fiber pigtail and the glass tube with the single fiber pigtail are mounted on the second GRIN lens and the first GRIN lens respectively. The position of the dual fiber pigtail and the single fiber pigtail are adjusted with respect to the second GRIN lens and the first GRIN lens respectively to obtain the best optical property. The invention prevents the WDM filter from tilting during temperature variation by sandwiching the WDM filter in between the two GRIN lenses, and further prevents the WDM unit from increasing the reflection loss and insertion loss.

Method of fabricating a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) unit

A highly reliable optical add/drop device is described. The optical add/drop device has an external tube and a ring, wherein the external tube and the ring are made of metallic material. A WDM filter is fixed in the ring. The ring is inserted in the external tube at the middle portion and fixed therein by soft solder technique. A single fiber collimator and a dual fiber collimator are respectively coupled with the opposite surfaces of the filter, and aligned in the external tube. Additionally, the single and dual fiber collimators are also fixed therein by soft solder technique, as two metal tubes respectively hold the single and dual fiber collimators. In the invention, the WDM filter is rigidly fixed to avoid tilting during temperature variation. Moreover, the invention provides an optical add/drop device with low insertion loss and reflection loss.
