Methods and systems for managing the operation of data processing systems are disclosed. A data processing system may include a computing device that may provide computer implemented services. To provide the computer implemented services, hardware components of the data processing system may need to operate in predetermined manners. To manage the operation of the hardware components, the data processing system may cool the hardware components to dissipate heat from the hardware components. The data processing system may include a fan retention mechanism that facilitates orientation of positioning of cooling components used to dissipate the heat from the hardware components.

System and method for managing retaining cooling components in data processing systems

An information handling system includes a server and a bezel. The server includes multiple external ports and a mounting bracket. Multiple cables are connected to the external ports. The external ports are located within an air inlet surface of the server. The mounting bracket extends from the air inlet surface. The bezel includes a main frame and a filter. When the main frame is connected with the mounting bracket, the main frame covers the external ports and the cables. The cables extend through the cable router of the mounting bracket to exit an area between the main frame and the air inlet surface. The filter snap fits within the main frame, and provides air filtration to an airflow prior to the airflow being pulled into the server.

An air mover board may include a cold-aisle power and cold-aisle signal connector located on a first edge of the air mover board and configured to couple to a corresponding connector of an information handling system when the air mover board is in a cold-aisle configuration, a hot-aisle power and hot-aisle signal connector located on a second edge of the air mover board opposite that of the first edge and configured to couple to the corresponding connector of an information handling system when the air mover board is in a hot-aisle configuration, and a plurality of mechanical features configured to align and maintain the air mover board in a fixed position relative to an air mover tray, including a feature permanently coupled to the air mover board and configured to mechanically couple to features of the air mover tray in the cold-aisle and hot-aisle configuration.

A method of assembling a direct-contact, liquid-cooled (DL) Rack Information Handling System (RIHS) includes inserting a leak containment barrier in a node enclosure provisioned with heat-generating functional components. The method also includes attaching a system of conduits supplying cooling liquid through the node enclosure and including a supply conduit extending from a node inlet coupling and a return conduit terminating in a node outlet coupling. A trough of the leak containment barrier underlays a portion of the system of conduits of an LC node and forms a drain path to a drain port of the node enclosure. The method further includes mounting the LC node insertably received in one node-receiving slot having a rear section configured for blind mating of the node inlet and outlet ports to a node-receiving liquid inlet port and a node-receiving liquid outlet port positioned to be inwardly facing to the couplings of the LC node.

An air baffle may include a body portion having a length and a height, as well as a plurality of folding lines arranged along the length of the air baffle. The folding lines may be substantially parallel to one another and directed along a direction of the height of the body portion. The air baffle may also include mounting features for mounting to a chassis of an information handling system. Based on a configuration of the plurality of folding lines, the air baffle may be mountable in a chassis of an information handling system to direct airflow within the chassis.

A direct-contact liquid-cooled (DL) Rack Information Handling System (RIHS) includes liquid cooled (LC) nodes having a chassis received in a respective chassis-receiving bay of the rack and containing heat-generating functional components. The LC node configured with a system of conduits to receive direct contact of cooling liquid to regulate the ambient temperature of the node and provide cooling to the functional components inside the node by removing heat generated by the heat-generating functional components. The chassis has a leak containment barrier configured with a trough that underlays a portion of the system of conduits of the LC node and that forms a drain path to a drain port of the chassis. In one or more embodiments, the storage drive carrier has vibration absorbing material that mitigates vibrations of a storage drive placed in the storage drive carrier.

A liquid cooling system for a server includes a heat pipe and a displacement appendage fluidly coupled to the heat pipe. The displacement appendage includes a displacement element which is compressible under pressure.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include heat-rejecting media thermally coupled to one or more information handling resources, a connector for receiving a modular information handling resource, the connector having a latch for facilitating insertion or removal of the modular information handling resource to or from the connector, and a removable baffle for directing a flow of air proximate to the heat-rejecting media. The removable baffle may have two substantially planar sides and an edge substantially perpendicular to the two planar sides, such that when the removable baffle is located within a chassis including the heat-rejecting media and the connector, the latch engages with the edge to mechanically maintain a location of the removable baffle within the chassis.

Apparatus and methods for retention of computer expansion cards and/or card bay covers inside a card bay of an information handling system chassis, and that may include an expansion card retaining apparatus that includes a pivotable first end configured to attachably rotate relative to a securing surface of the information handling system chassis, a latching second end configured to releasably lock the expansion card retaining apparatus in a locking position that prevents rotation of the expansion card retaining apparatus about the pivotable first end, at least one resiliently deformable coupling section extending between the pivotable first end and the latching second end to maintain the latching second end in the locking position, and a retention section extending between the at least one coupling section and the pivotable first end.

Apparatus and methods for retaining expansion cards

An information handling system circuit board has an opening formed through it proximate a coupling point of an integrated circuit to the circuit board. The opening manages stress at the coupling point of the integrated circuit to the circuit board to reduce the risk of damage to the coupling point during deformation of the circuit board, such as when the circuit board is coupled to a chassis or when a component is pressed into the circuit board. In one embodiment, rectangular openings are formed at diagonally opposed corners of a BSA integrated circuit. In alternative embodiments, openings of varying shape, such as slots or curved slots, are formed at selected corners of the integrated circuit.
