A display device includes a display panel having a display area in which a plurality of pixels are provided, a first optical member provided on a display surface side of the display panel so as to cover the display area, a second optical member provided on an opposite side to the first optical member with the display panel interposed therebetween, and a light source part that is provided on an opposite side to the display panel with the second optical member interposed therebetween and is configured to emit light an optical path of which is along a facing direction in which the first optical member and the second optical member face each other.

Display device

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display area, a light control element, a projection surface and at least one of one or more mirrors or one or more lenses. The display area includes subpixels, and includes a first area containing first subpixels in the subpixels and a second area containing second subpixels in the subpixels. The light control element is overlapped with the first area. The projection surface projects an image displayed in the display area. A virtual image perceived by a user who views the projection surface includes a first virtual image corresponding to the first area and perceived as a stereoscopic virtual image, and a second virtual image corresponding to the second area and perceived as a planar virtual image.

According to one embodiment, an image processing device includes an acquisition unit which obtains a target image, a generation unit which generates a three-dimensional image by reordering a plurality of video signals corresponding to the obtained target image such that each of the video signals is written to one of a plurality of pixels arranged in a horizontal direction while skipping a predetermined number of pixels, and an output unit which outputs the generated three-dimensional image to a display device.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel that includes a display portion including pixels and a non-display portion including an opening, an illumination device, and a color separation element provided between the display panel and the illumination device. The color separation element includes a first element overlapping the pixel and a second element overlapping the opening, the first element separates illumination light from the illumination device into light of a plurality of colors and irradiates the pixel with the light, and the second element separates illumination light from the illumination device into light of a plurality of colors and irradiates the opening with the light.

According to one embodiment, in the display device, on the substrate opposed the liquid crystal panel, an element is formed by grooves having steps in a minute and periodic pattern, and the element separates the backlight from the light source unit into light of different color wavelengths and diffract them toward the corresponding color subpixels of the liquid crystal panel. In the light source unit, the first lens shapes the incident light from the light source according to the shape of the display surface of the panel, and the second lens irradiates the light incident surface of the substrate with the light shaped by the first lens as the backlight.

According to one embodiment, a display apparatus includes a display device and an image display control circuit. The display device includes a display panel and a light controller. The light controller controls a direction of a light ray emitted from the display panel. The image display control circuit controls the display panel to display an image in which two or more parallax images having different parallax numbers are mixed, on a display surface of the display device. The image display control circuit displays a parallax image having a first parallax number in at least a first area and displays a parallax image having a second parallax number in a second area. The second parallax number is smaller than the first parallax number.

According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first arrangement layer and a second arrangement layer. The first layer includes a first pixel, a second pixel, and a third pixel are arranged periodically in one direction. The second layer is opposed to the first layer, and the second layer includes a first element, a second element, and a third element which are arranged periodically to correspond to the first pixel, the second pixel, and the third pixel, respectively, and separate emission light to light of wavelength corresponding to a first color, light of wavelength corresponding to a second color, and light of wavelength corresponding to a third color to be emitted on the first pixel, the second pixel, and the third pixel, respectively.

Display device, display method, and color separation device

According to an aspect, a display device includes a plurality of pixels. Each pixel includes two sub-pixels adjacent to each other in a first direction. Each sub-pixel has one of three colors allocated thereto. Two colors of the two sub-pixels included in the pixel are different. The two colors of the two sub-pixels and a positional relation between the two sub-pixels are the same in each of the pixels arrayed in a second direction. One color not allocated to the two sub-pixels included in a first pixel out of the three colors is allocated to at least one of the sub-pixels included in second pixels adjacent to the first pixel in the first direction. The sub-pixels having the same color allocated thereto are arranged along the first direction with one sub-pixel interposed therebetween, the one sub-pixel having another color allocated thereto.

According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal device includes a first substrate including a first electrode and a second electrode, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, and the second electrode is located on a side of the liquid crystal layer with respect to the first electrode and includes a first opening, the first opening is formed into a polygonal shape including a base portion and at least one projecting portion projecting from the base portion along a first direction, a width of the base portion along the first direction is greater than a width of the projecting portion along the first direction, and the liquid crystal layer exhibits transparency while no voltage being applied and scattering property while voltage being applied.

According to one embodiment, a display device, includes a first main pixel, wherein the first main pixel comprises a first sub-pixel displaying a first color, a second sub-pixel displaying a second color different from the first color, and a third sub-pixel displaying a third color different from the first and second colors, the first and second sub-pixels are arranged in a second direction, the first and third sub-pixels are arranged in a first direction, and the second and third sub-pixels are arranged in the first direction, and each of the first and second sub-pixels has a first length in the first direction, and the third sub-pixel has a second length smaller than the first length in the first direction.
