For providing a mechanism of contents reproducing equipment, for operating a communicating device and a decoding device, which are provided in each of equipments connected therewith through a network, in cooperation with each other, so as to enable to change from a reproducing process, which is relatively low in processing capacity required, to a reproducing process, which is relatively high, reproduction is conducted of the contents, which is low in the processing capacity required for reproduction, with using the communicating means and the decoding means, which are lower in the processing capacity. In parallel therewith, reproduction is conducted of contents, which is high in the processing capacity required for reproduction, with using the communicating means and the decoding means, which are higher in the processing capacity thereof. Also, measurement is done on a processing time necessary for receiving and decoding of encoded contents for a unit of time, or a processing volume of the receiving process and the decoding process of the encoded contents, which can be processed during the unit of time, and thereby managing it as the processing capacity.

A system for reproducing contents in a different device conveniently in use while protecting a copyright of digital contents includes a contents recording and transmission device, a reception and reproduction device, and an external storage medium having an ID. The external storage medium is connected to the reception and reproduction device. The ID is transmitted to the recording and transmission device, and ascertained. Then contents are delivered. The external storage medium has a list of contents stored therein. A method of checking a sheet as to forgery thereof, the sheet being provided with an electronic circuit chip from or in which information can be read out or written and having visible information. An electronic circuit chip with an ID code having a message authentication code stored in a read-only area is used as an identification tag. The information at an ID code order receiving terminal and an identification tag production factory terminal are consolidated and collectively managed at an ID code management terminal. Thereby, the ID code management terminal is inquired of highly confidential information or requested to process the information as required so that an ID code utilization terminal is not required to store the same information.
