A method of applying heat to living tissue mainly uses a device for performing heat treatment on at least a portion of the living tissue in high-low-high temperature steps. In high temperature step, the temperature of the at least a portion of the living tissue is heated and kept between 39-46&#xb0; C., and the heating period is no longer than 30 minutes. In low temperature step, the at least a portion of the living tissue is cooled, and the low temperature period should not be greater than a natural cooling time interval. In addition, the low temperature period must also be shorter than the heating period. Thus, the present invention allows the abnormal cells to be selectively restored or apoptotic without damaging the normal cells.

Method and apparatus for applying heat to living tissue

There is provided a color regulating device for illumination. The color regulating device includes a light-valving structure for adjusting a flux ratio of outgoing light through the light-valving structure to incident light entering the light-valving structure, and a color-adjusting structure having a wavelength-band converting element for changing incident light with a wavelength band into outgoing light with a different wavelength band through the element. Wherein, the light-valving structure and the color-adjusting structure at least partially overlap on the traveling path of light, forming at least one overlapping structure. The present invention relates to a cryo-charging specimen holder for the electron microscope, particularly to a cryo-charging specimen holder for the electron microscope to hold various biological materials. The major feature of the invention is to charge the biological specimen and freeze the specimen at low temperature. The ice around the biological sample is also doped, so that after charging the doped ice surrounding the sample has a conductivity level comparable to that of conductor. Therefore, the sample can be embedded by the doped and charged ice obtaining the property of conductor, in order to be observed by the electron microscope.

An ultra-thin liquid control plate and a combination of a box-like member and the control plate include a plate-like member having at least one view hole. The joint surface combined with a sidewall of the view hole and a surface of the plate-like member is provided with at least one more-hydrophilic section and at least one less-hydrophilic section, wherein the more-hydrophilic section has a height smaller than 50 &#x3bc;m. While combined with the box-like member, the plate-like member is mounted in the box-like member. The box-like member has at least one through hole running through each of a top side and a bottom side thereof and coaxially aligned with the view hole. After a liquid is placed into the view hole, the more-hydrophilic section adsorbs the liquid to form a liquid layer and the less-hydrophilic section is hydrophobic to adsorb no liquid.

A device for operating gas in the vacuum or low-pressure environment and for observation of the operation includes a housing. The housing has a thinner part formed at a side thereof, and at least one spacer mounted therein for partitioning off its inside into a gas chamber and at least one buffer chamber outside the gas chamber. The gas chamber has two inner apertures provided on the spacers above and below the gas chamber. The housing has two outer apertures provided respectively on a top side thereof and a bottom side thereof. All of the inner and outer apertures are coaxial with one another and located on the thinner part. The housing has a pumping port for communication with the buffer chamber, and a gas inlet for communication with the gas chamber.

Device for operating gas in vacuum or low-pressure environment and for observation of the operation

A specimen box for an electron microscope capable of observing a general specimen or a live cell is formed of a housing. The housing includes a receiving chamber formed therein and at least one view hole formed on each of a top side thereof and a bottom side thereof and communicating with the receiving chamber and coaxially aligned with the other. The distance between a bottom end of the view hole located on the top side of the housing and a top end of the view hole located on the bottom side of the housing is smaller than 50 &#x3bc;m. The housing is ultra-thin to enable penetration of the electron beam therethrough even though a liquid specimen is injected into the housing. A general specimen or a live cell can be put into the housing for the microscopic observation under the electron microscope.

A nanoimprint lithography method of fabricating a nanoadhesive includes steps of (a) preparing a substrate and a transfer stamp, said transfer stamp having a transfer face and nanometer-scale features formed on said transfer face, said nanometer-scale features having a plurality of convexities and concavities, said substrate having an etched layer; (b) proceeding a staining process to enable either of said convexities and concavities to be stained with a photoresist; (c) proceeding a transfer process to enable said nanometer-scale features to touch said etched layer to transfer said photoresist onto said etched layer; and (d) proceeding an etching process to enable parts of said etched layer that are not stained with the photoresist to be each etched for a predetermined depth. As the steps indicated above, the nanoadhesive can be produced with mass production and low cost.

A method of operating liquid in a vacuum or low-pressure environment and observing the operation and a device for the operation and the observation respectively, including the steps of preparing a housing, putting the housing in the vacuum or low-pressure environment and control liquid, vapor, and buffer chambers under the same temperature, infusing vapor into the vapor chamber through a gas inlet and control the vapor pressure inside the vapor chamber to be equal to the saturated vapor pressure of a liquid specimen inside the liquid chamber under the same temperature to prevent the inside liquid from volatilization, and evacuating the buffer chamber through the pumping port to pump out the vapor and prevent the vapor from exhausting through outer apertures out of the housing. A probing source can pass through the outer, inner, and vapor apertures for observation and analysis of the liquid specimen inside the liquid chamber.

A method of operating liquid in a vacuum or low-pressure environment and observing the operation and a device for the operation and the observation respectively, including the steps of preparing a housing, putting the housing in the vacuum or low-pressure environment and keep a predetermined temperature difference between liquid, vapor, and buffer chambers, infusing vapor into the vapor chamber through a gas inlet and control the vapor pressure inside the vapor chamber to be equal to the saturated vapor pressure of a liquid specimen inside the liquid chamber under the same temperature to prevent the inside liquid from volatilization, and evacuating the buffer chamber through the pumping port to pump out the vapor and prevent the vapor from exhausting through outer apertures out of the housing. A probing source can pass through the outer, inner, and vapor apertures for observation and analysis of the liquid specimen inside the liquid chamber.

A semi-closed observational environment for an electron microscope includes a housing having at least two spacers for partitioning itself into a receiving chamber, a gas chamber below the receiving chamber, a buffer chamber below the gas chamber, at least one gas inlet formed at the gas chamber, and at least one pumping port formed at the buffer chamber. The receiving chamber has at least two view holes formed at top and bottom sides thereof respectively, wherein the latter communicates with the gas chamber. The gas chamber has at least one gas aperture formed at a bottom side thereof for communication with the buffer chamber. The buffer chamber has at least one outer aperture formed at a bottom side thereof for communication with outside. The two view holes of the receiving chamber are coaxially aligned with the gas and outer apertures. A film is mounted to and seals the upper view hole.

Semi-closed observational environment for electron microscope

Due to lights with different wavelengths having different indexes of refraction in a liquid crystal, a retardation between lights with different wavelengths occurs and causes the problem of viewing angle of the liquid crystal display. The present invention provides a manufacturing method of light-guiding apparatus of a liquid crystal display to form light-guiding pillars having a characteristic of total reflection as a fiber. The light from back light module through the light-guiding pillars enters the liquid crystal at an incident angle smaller than 150 for reducing the retardation between lights with different wavelengths.
