A manufacturing method of a waveguide and a head mounted display device having the waveguide are provided. The head mounted display device includes a display unit, a first waveguide and a second waveguide. The display unit is configured to provide an image beam. The first waveguide is located between the display unit and the second waveguide. The first waveguide is configured to transmit the image beam to the second waveguide and adjust a light shape of the image beam to maintain a field angle and expand a pupil in a single dimension. The second waveguide is configured to transmit the image beam to outside of the head mounted display device, and the second waveguide can extend a light transmission path and provide a uniform image beam.

Waveguide and head mounted display device having waveguide

A near-eye optical system, for receiving an image beam, includes an optical waveguide, configured to expand the image beam in a direction, and including a near-eye surface and a structure surface. The structure surface includes a light incident area and is opposite to the near-eye surface. The light incident area is located in a transmission path of the image beam. A plurality of reflective inclined surfaces are disposed on the structure surface and located at one side of the light incident surface and arranged along the direction. The structure surface is sequentially divided into the light incident area and a plurality of optical areas along the direction. A line number density of the reflective inclined surfaces in the optical area closest to the light incident area in the direction is less than a line number density of the reflective inclined surfaces in the optical area furthest from the light incident area in the direction.

Near-eye optical system

A near-eye optical system receiving an image beam including a first optical waveguide is provided. The first optical waveguide expands the image beam in a first direction and includes first and second surfaces, first and second beam-splitting surfaces, and a plurality of first and second reflective inclined surfaces. The first and second beam-splitting surfaces are located in the first optical waveguide and disposed in a tilted manner relative to the first and second surfaces. The first and second beam-splitting surfaces have opposite tilt directions. The first and second beam-splitting surfaces receive an image beam incident from the first surface so that a first portion of the image beam passes through and a second portion of the image beam is reflected. The near-eye optical system further reduces a thickness of the optical waveguide and alleviates the issue that the image beam is not completely projected to the optical waveguide.

A HMD device including a display, a first waveguide element and a second waveguide element is provided. The first waveguide element comprises a first light incident surface, a first light emerging surface and a plurality of first light splitting elements. An image beam is incident to the first waveguide element through the first light incident surface, and leaves the first waveguide element through the first light emerging surface. The second waveguide element comprises a second light incident surface, a second light emerging surface and a plurality of second light splitting elements. The image beam is incident to the second waveguide element through the second light incident surface. The image beam leaves through the second light emerging surface and is projected to the projection target. A reflectivity of the None of the second light splitting elements is smaller than or equal to a reflectivity of the (N+1)one of the second light splitting elements.

Head-mounted display device

A near eye display device includes a display and a first waveguide element, the first waveguide element including a light incoming surface, a light exiting surface, a reflective inclined surface and beam splitting elements. An image beam provided by the display enters the first waveguide element via the light incoming surface and is reflected by the reflective inclined surface in the first waveguide element to the beam splitting elements, and is split by the beam splitting elements and leaves the first waveguide element via the light exiting surface. The reflective inclined surface has a first reflectivity distribution in a first incident angle range and a second reflectivity distribution in a second incident angle range. An angle in the second incident angle range is greater than an angle in the first incident angle range, and the first reflectivity distribution has a greater reflectivity average value than the second reflectivity distribution.

Near eye display device

A near-eye display device includes an image system and a first waveguide member. The image system is configured to provide an image beam. The first waveguide member is disposed on a transmission path of the image beam and includes a first surface, a second surface, a first light incident end, and a plurality of first light-splitting surfaces. The first light incident end is located on a side of the first surface and the second surface. The image beam enters the first waveguide member through the first light incident end. The first light-splitting surfaces are configured in a tilted manner relative to the first surface and the second surface. On a side away from the first light incident end when taking a visual axis of the direct-vision of an eye of a user as a baseline, a plurality of first gaps increase as located farther from the first light incident end.

Near-eye display device

A projection device includes at least one projection module and at least one adjusting structure. The projection module has an optical axis and is adapted to emit an image beam. The image beam is transmitted to a projection target to form a projection image. The adjusting structure includes a base and an adjusting component. The adjusting component is rotatably connected to the base along a first axis, and the projection module is rotatably connected to the adjusting component along the optical axis. The adjusting component and the projection module are adapted to rotate along the first axis such that the projection image moves vertically, and the projection module is adapted to rotate along the optical axis such that the projection image rotates.

Projection device

An optical waveguide apparatus including an optical waveguide element and an optical recycling element is provided. The optical waveguide element includes a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The first surface or the second surface includes an optical structure. An incident light enters the optical waveguide element via the first surface and is transmitted to the second surface. The optical recycling element is disposed on the second surface of the optical waveguide element. The incident light is transmitted to the optical recycling element via the second surface. The optical recycling element changes a transmission direction of the incident light to generate a recycled light. The recycled light enters the optical waveguide element via the second surface and is transmitted to the first surface.

Optical waveguide apparatus and display

A projection apparatus including an image device and an illumination system is provided. The image device is configured to convert an illumination beam into an image beam. The illumination system includes an illumination light source, a diffusion device and a light uniform device. The illumination light source provides the illumination beam. The illumination beam is transmitted to the image device through the diffusion device and the light uniform device sequentially. The image beam leaves the projection apparatus and converges at a stop. The stop is located outside the projection apparatus. The image beam on the stop has desirable uniformity of an energy intensity distribution.

Projection apparatus

A projection device including at least one projection module and at least one adjusting structure is provided. The projection module has at least one optical axis. The projection module is adapted to provide an image beam. The image beam is transmitted along a light transmission path to a projection target and forms a projection image. The adjusting structure is connected to the projection module. The adjusting structure is adapted to drive at least a part of the projection module to rotate along the optical axis such that the projection image rotates.

Projection device and projection method

A projection device including at least one projection module, at least one reflecting element, and at least one adjusting structure is provided. The projection module has at least one optical axis. The projection module is adapted to provide a projection beam. The projection beam is transmitted along a light transmission path to a projection target to form a projection image. The reflecting element is disposed between the at least one projection module and the projection target and located on the optical axis and has a reflecting surface, wherein the reflecting surface is adapted to reflect the projection beam to the projection target. The adjusting structure is connected to the projection module and the reflecting element. The adjusting structure is adapted to drive the projection module and the reflecting element to rotate along a second axis such that the projection image rotates.

Projection device having adjusting structure

A projection device including at least one projection module, at least one reflecting element, and at least one adjusting structure is provided. The projection module has at least one optical axis. The projection module is adapted to provide a projection beam. The projection beam is transmitted along a light transmission path to a projection target to form a projection image. The reflecting element is disposed between the at least one projection module and the projection target and located on the optical axis and has a reflecting surface, wherein the reflecting surface is adapted to reflect the projection beam to the projection target. The adjusting structure is connected to the reflecting element. The adjusting structure is adapted to drive the reflecting element to rotate along a first axis such that the projection image moves horizontally.

Projection device with adjusting structure for moving directions of projection image

An optical system including a first optical waveguide device, and a second optical waveguide device is provided. The first optical waveguide device includes a first light entering surface, a first light exiting surface and a first beam splitter. An image light emitted from the display enters the first optical waveguide device through the first light entering surface. The second optical waveguide device includes a second light entering surface, a second light exiting surface and a second beam splitter. The second light entering surface faces the first light exiting surface. A gap is formed between the second light entering surface and the first light exiting surface. Besides, a head-mounted display using the optical system described above is also provided.

Head-mounted display apparatus and optical system

A HMD device includes an illumination system, a display device, a lens module and a waveguide system. The illumination system includes an aperture stop. The display device converts an illumination beam into an image beam. The waveguide system guides the image beam, and projects the image beam to a projection target. The waveguide system includes a first waveguide element and a second waveguide element. The image beam is projected to the projection target through the lens module, the first and the second waveguide elements, and is converged to a first stop within the first waveguide element. The first stop is located in the first waveguide element. The image beam is projected to a second stop outside the second waveguide element. The second stop is located at the projection target. The illumination beam is converged to a third stop within the illumination system. The aperture stop is located at the third stop.

A HMD device including a display device, a first waveguide element and a second waveguide element is provided. An image beam is projected to a projection target. The first waveguide element includes a plurality of first light splitting elements. The image beam coming from the display device is incident to the first waveguide element through a first light incident surface. The image beam is convergent to a first stop in the first waveguide element. The image beam leaves the first waveguide element through the first light exiting surface. The first stop is located in the first waveguide element. The second waveguide element includes a plurality of second light splitting elements. The image beam coming from the first waveguide element is incident to the second waveguide element through the second light incident surface.
