A method and apparatus for video coding system that utilizes low-latency template-matching motion-vector refinement are disclosed. According to this method, a current template for a current block is determined, where the current template includes an inside current template including inside prediction samples or inside partially reconstructed samples inside the current block. The inside partially reconstructed samples are derived by adding a DC value of the current block to the inside prediction samples. Corresponding candidate reference templates associated with the current block are determined at a set of candidate locations. A location of a target reference template among the candidate reference templates that achieves a best match between the current template and the candidate reference templates is determined. An initial motion vector (MV) is then refined according to the location of the target reference template.

Method and apparatus for low-latency template matching in video coding system

Video processing methods for coding a current block comprise receiving input data of a current block, checking whether a sub-block motion compensation coding tool is applied to the current block based on a size, width, or height of the current block, a size, area, shape, width, or height of sub-blocks partitioned from the current block, an inter prediction direction of a sub-block Motion Vector (MV), primary MV, or one of control point MVs of the current block, a primary MV, the control point MVs, affine parameters; encoding or decoding the current block using the sub-block motion compensation coding tool or another coding tool according to a result of the checking indicating whether application of the sub-block motion compensation coding tool is valid or invalid; and a MV clipping process is applied to each sub-block in the current block if the checking result is false, indicating the validity is invalid.

A method and apparatus for video coding. According to the method, a set of candidates associated with coding modes or mode parameters are determined. Boundary matching costs associated with the set of candidates are determined, where each of the boundary matching costs is determined for one target candidate of the set of candidates. The costs are calculated by using reconstructed or predicted samples of the current block and one or more neighboring blocks of the current block. Each of the boundary matching costs is calculated using one target configuration selected from a plurality of configurations. A final candidate is selected from the set of candidates based on the boundary matching costs. The current block is encoded or decoded using the final candidate.

Image or video processing methods and apparatuses comprise receiving input data associated with a current picture or a current slice in the current picture, determining whether the current picture is a monochrome picture, conditionally signaling or parsing chroma deblocking parameters depending on whether the current picture is a monochrome picture, and encode or decode the current picture or current slice. The chroma deblocking parameters are used in a deblocking filter operation applied to chroma components of the current picture or current slice when the current picture is not a monochrome picture. A syntax element may be used to indicate derivation of chroma deblocking parameters, and based on a value of the syntax element, the chroma deblocking parameters are allowed to be explicitly signaled in or parsed from a syntax structure, or the chroma deblocking parameters are implicitly inferred.

Methods and apparatuses of loop filter parameter signaling in image or video processing system

A power supply system, a fuel cell power generation performance detection device and a control method thereof are provided. The fuel cell has a rated output voltage and an internal resistance having a preset resistance value. The detection device includes a test resistor, a first test switch, a current detection unit and a control unit. The control unit controls the first test switch and the current detection unit to send a first control signal to selectively turn on the first test switch. When the first test switch is turned on, the fuel cell, the test resistor, the first test switch and the current detection unit define a test loop. The current detection unit detects a test current passing through the test loop. The control unit obtains a real-time resistance value of the internal resistance based on the test current to evaluate the power generation performance of the fuel cell.

A matching result between a restricted reference template of a reference block and the current template is then determined, wherein the restricted reference template is generating by using only neighbouring reference pixels of a reference template inside the determined area, the reference template has a same shape as the current template, and a location of the reference template is determined according to a target motion vector (MV) from the current template.

According to the method, combined prediction members are determined, where each of the combined prediction member includes a weighted sum of a first prediction candidate and a second prediction candidate using a target weighting selected from a weighting set. Boundary matching costs associated with the combined prediction members are determined, where each of the boundary matching costs is determined, for the combined prediction member with the target weighting, by using predicted samples of the current block based on the combined prediction member with the target weighting and neighbouring reconstructed samples of the current block. The current block is then encoded or decoded using a final combined prediction decided based on at least one of the boundary matching costs.

Method and apparatus for multiple hypothesis prediction in video coding system

A method and apparatus for video coding. According to this method, a set of candidates associated with coding modes or coding parameters is determined. Boundary matching costs associated with the set of candidates are determined, where each of the boundary matching costs is determined, for one target candidate of the set of candidates, by using reconstructed or predicted samples of the current block and neighbouring reconstructed or predicted samples of the current block. The reconstructed or predicted samples of the current block are determined according to the one target candidate. The set of candidates are reordered according to the boundary matching costs. Methods and apparatus for video coding system utilizing Rate-Distortion Optimized Quantization (RDOQ) are provided. According to one method, a rate for a level belonging to a level set of a current quantized transform coefficient is estimated for a current coefficient group (CG) based on neighboring quantized coefficients of the current quantized transform coefficient and the current CG. A best level for the current quantized transform coefficient is selected from the level set for a best RD-cost. In another method, a TB is partitioned into M regions and M best regions are derived for the M regions according to RDOQ. At least two alternative region RD-costs are generated for each of the M best regions based on a relative position between each of the M best regions and a last significant region in the TB. TB RD-cost for the TB is selected according a last non-zero best region position.

Method and apparatus for hardware-friendly rate-distortion optimized quantization in video coding

A video processing method for a video encoder or decoder comprises receiving input data of a current block, determining an intra prediction mode and reference samples according to the intra prediction mode, determining an intra reference sample filter from a Gaussian interpolation filter and an alternative interpolation filter for the current block, applying the intra reference sample filter to the reference samples to generate an intra predictor for the current block, and encoding or decoding the current block based on the intra predictor. A determination between the Gaussian and alternative interpolation filters is depending on a comparison of a mode difference value calculated by the intra prediction mode with a size-dependent threshold. The size-dependent threshold is set to be equal to 24 for blocks with block size smaller than or equal to 32 samples according to an embodiment. The alternative interpolation filter may be a DCT-IF interpolation filter.

According to another method, after the luma block and the chroma block are partitioned using different partition tress, determine whether one or more exception conditions to allow an LM for a target chroma leaf block are satisfied when the chroma partition tree uses a different split type, a different partition direction, or both from the luma partition tree.

A video encoder receives raw pixel data to be encoded as a current block of a current picture of a video into a bitstream. The video encoder identifies multiple candidate bi-prediction positions for the current block, including a center position, a first set of offset positions, and a second set of offset positions. The first set of offset positions and the second set of offset positions interleave each other. The encoder computes distortion values for each of the candidate bi-prediction positions based on several possible weighting parameter values. The distortion values for the center position are based on each of the several possible weighting parameter values. The distortion values for the first set of offset positions are based on a first subset of the possible weighting parameter values. The distortion values for the second set of offset positions are based on a second subset of the possible weighting parameter values.

Shared architecture for multiple video coding modes

Method and apparatus of Inter prediction for video coding are disclosed. When a sub-block motion compensation coding tool is selected for the current block, the method generates sub-block MVs (motion vectors) associated with multiple sub-blocks, which are included or contained in the current block, according to the sub-block motion compensation coding tool, constrains the sub-block MVs within a range to form constrained sub-block MVs, and applies motion compensation to the current block using the constrained sub-block MVs or applies motion compensation to the current block using one sub-block MV within the range around the primary MV in a second list if a corresponding sub-block MV in a first list is outside the range. In another method, motion compensation is applied to the current block only using reference pixels of reference sub-blocks within a primary reference block.
