A data unit (e.g., a physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU)) is detected at a first wireless device of a basic service set (BSS). The data unit was sent on a channel from a second wireless device of an overlapping basic service set (OBSS). The data unit is wide-bandwidth, occupying both a primary channel and a secondary channel of the wireless network. The first and second wireless devices are within a same spatial reuse group (SRG). The first wireless device stores the channel bandwidth of the data unit and a receive duration time of the data unit. During the receive duration time of the data unit, a SRG OBSS power density threshold is applied on the secondary channels that are within the channel bandwidth of the data unit, instead of applying a non-SRG OBSS power density threshold on those secondary channels.

Secondary channel spatial reuse in a wireless network

Methods and apparatus for performing secure ranging measurements between wireless devices are disclosed herein according to embodiments of the present invention. The described embodiments use key values to indicate which LTF sequence (e.g., LTF measurement exchange) to use for performing wireless ranging measurements. A LTF sequence that is received by a wireless device that does not correspond with the associated key value is determined to be invalid. Invalid LTF sequences may be disregarded as signal noise.

Systems and methods of providing Basis Service Set (BSS) load information pertinent to multi-user (MU) communications in WLAN systems. An access point (AP) can determine the counts of MU-capable user stations (STAs) active STAs in a BSS. Each MU-capable STA is configured for Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) communications and/or Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) communications. The AP can further determine ratios of PPDU time over an observation period of MU uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) communications, respectively. The AP can further determine an underutilization level of each available frequency subband, the underutilization level integrating the actual underutilization in terms of both spatial streams and frequency subbands. The DL and UL underutilization levels can be separately determined and reported. The MU BSS load information can be included in a beacon frame as a BSS load information element and distributed to user STAs periodically.

Determination and transmission of BSS load metrics for MU WLAN systems

A data unit (e.g., a physical layer convergence procedure (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU)) is detected at a first wireless device that is a member of a basic service set (BSS). The data unit was sent on a channel from a second wireless device that is a member of an overlapping basic service set (OBSS). When the first wireless device ignores the data unit and obtains a transmit opportunity for the channel according to a spatial reuse procedure, then the first wireless device is prohibited from transmitting a frame to a device that is a member of the OBSS during the time interval associated with the transmit opportunity.

Transmission between basic service sets in wireless networks considering spatial reuse

A method and apparatus for supporting A-MSDU data transfer in an A-MPDU system includes sending capability information from a first network device, receiving onto the first network device an A-MPDU frame that includes A-MSDU data, and sending an acknowledgment from the first network device. A bit field in the capability information indicates if inclusion of A-MSDU data in an A-MPDU payload is supported. The first network device is a wireless station (STA). The first network device is part of a peer-to-peer network. The A-MSDU is in a data enabled immediate response context. A bit field in the capability information indicates if receiving an A-MPDU frame including A-MSDU data carried in a QoS Data frame without a block acknowledgment agreement is supported.

Support of A-MSDU in A-MPDU

A method of data acknowledgement includes: transmitting data from a wireless station, transmitting a Block Acknowledgement Request (BAR) from the wireless station, and receiving a Block Acknowledgement (BA) by the wireless station. In one example, the step of transmitting BAR by the wireless station requests an acknowledgment for transmitted data with an access category that has the same priority as the a primary access category. In another example, the step of transmitting BAR by the wireless station requests an acknowledgment for transmitted data with an access category that has the same or higher priority than a primary access category. A wireless device includes at least one transceiver to exchange data with another wireless device, at least one processor, and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to: transmit data, transmit a Block Acknowledgement Request (BAR), and receive a Block Acknowledgement (BA).

Multi-TID A-MPDU transmission

Presented systems and methods facilitate efficient and effective communication link adaptation. In one embodiment, a system comprises: a first communication device configured to forward link adaptation information, and a second communication component configured to receive the link adaptation information. The system is part of a wireless local area network (WLAN). The link adaptation information can include Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) Feed Back (MFB) related information in a communication frame. The communication frame can include a first field and a second field. The first field indicates the information is being forwarded as unsolicited MFB information or is associated with a solicitation request for the MFB information. The second first field indicates whether the information is MFB information or a request for MFB information.

Network communication link adaptation systems and methods

A method of determining a distance between mobile wireless devices can include determining a format and bandwidth supported by an initiating Station (STA) and a responding Station (STA) and exchanging one or more sets of Null Data Packet (NDP) frames between the initiating Station (STA) and the responding Station (STA) using the determined format and bandwidth. The distance between the initiating Station (STA) and the responding Station (STA) can then be determined based on timing measurements of the one or more sets of Null Data Packet (NDP) frames exchanged between the initiating Station (STA) and the responding Station (STA).

Enhanced timing measurement techniques for determining distance in wireless networks

A method of STA-initiated uplink (UL) aggregation is proposed in a wireless communication system. Under the STA-initiated UL aggregation, an STA can gain access to the medium through contention and after winning the TXOP, it passes the TXOP ownership to its AP to allow it to trigger UL MU transmission. Thus, the AP has increased chance of utilizing the medium while maintains fairness to both legacy APs and STAs. In addition, once AP takes over ownership of the TXOP, if it detects idle secondary channels, it can enable UL aggregation over the idle secondary channels, thereby fully utilizing the entire system bandwidth.

STA initiated uplink aggregation in wireless communication systems

A method of enhanced beamforming procedure to achieve spatial reuse and thereby improving cell edge performance and area throughput is proposed. The enhanced beamforming method increases the likelihood of channel access under dense deployment condition, reduces interference to OBSS, reduces collision during reception, and increases the likelihood of spatial reuse in dense deployment scenario thus leading to higher network throughput.

Beamforming enhancements for spatial reuse in wireless networks

A method for allocating radio resources by a coordinating wireless communications device in a wireless communications network including a plurality of wireless communications devices includes: obtaining a plurality of supported narrow-band channels in the wireless communications network; selecting a primary channel from the supported narrow-band channels and using the primary channel to communicate with the plurality of wireless communications devices; organizing the plurality of wireless communications devices into one or more communication groups; and assigning one of the one or more communication group a non-overlapping operating channel for multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU MIMO) communication with the coordinating wireless communications device.

A method for a multiple BSSID environment in a wireless location area network (WLAN) is proposed. A first wireless device obtains basic service set (BSS)information of a plurality of BSSs. The first wireless device then sends a fine time measurement (FTM) frame containing the BSS information to a second wireless device.
