A controller of a power conversion circuit, coupled to a smart power stage (SPS), controls SPS to convert an input voltage into an output voltage and provides an output current. The SPS provides a current monitoring signal to the controller. The controller includes a control loop, a sampling circuit and a current reconstruction circuit. The control loop is coupled to SPS and generates a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal to control the operation of SPS. The sampling circuit is coupled to SPS and receives the current monitoring signal. The current monitoring signal is sampled according to PWM signal to obtain a calibration reference value. The current reconstruction circuit is coupled to the control loop and sampling circuit and generates a reconstructed current corresponding to actual output current. The reconstructed current is produced according to an input voltage, a reference voltage and PWM signal and calibrated using the calibration reference value.

Controller of power conversion circuit and operating method thereof

A control circuit of a power converter includes a first sensing circuit, a reference voltage generation circuit, an error amplifying circuit and a PWM circuit. The first sensing circuit, coupled to a first output circuit, provides a first current sensing signal. The reference voltage generation circuit, coupled to the first sensing circuit, provides a reference voltage according to the first current sensing signal. The error amplifying circuit, coupled to the reference voltage generation circuit, receives the reference voltage and an output feedback voltage of the power converter to provide an error amplifying signal. The PWM circuit, coupled between the error amplifying circuit and the first output circuit, receives the error amplifying signal and provides a control signal to control the first output circuit. The reference voltage generation circuit further receives the error amplifying signal and adjusts the reference voltage it generates according to the error amplifying signal.

Control circuit of power converter and reference voltage adjusting method thereof

A control circuit of a power converter includes a sensing circuit, a ramp signal generation circuit and a PWM circuit. The sensing circuit, coupled to an output circuit, provides a current sensing signal. The ramp signal generation circuit includes a transient circuit and a signal generation circuit. The transient circuit receives the current sensing signal and generates a variable reference voltage. The signal generation circuit provides a ramp signal according to the variable reference voltage. The PWM circuit provides a PWM signal to the output circuit according to the ramp signal. When current sourcing occurs, it continues for a first default time. A transient state during current sourcing continues for a second default time less than first default time. The variable reference voltage is changed from a default value to an adjusted value during the second default time and restored to the default value after the second default time.

Control circuit of power converter

A control circuit of a power converter is coupled to an output stage and controls it to convert an input voltage into an output voltage and generate an output current. The control circuit includes a ripple generation circuit, a synthesis circuit, an error amplifier, a comparator and a PWM circuit. The ripple generation circuit generates a ripple signal according to an input voltage, an output voltage and output current. The synthesis circuit receives the ripple signal and a first feedback signal related to output voltage to provide a second feedback signal. The error amplifier receives the second feedback signal and a reference voltage to generate an error signal. The comparator receives a ramp signal and error signal to generate a comparison signal. The PWM circuit generates a PWM signal to control output stage according to the comparison signal. A slope of ripple signal is changed with the output current.

Control circuit and control method of power converter

A time signal generating circuit of a power converter and a control method thereof are provided. The time signal generating circuit includes a reference frequency generating circuit, an on-time circuit and a frequency tracking circuit. The reference frequency generating circuit provides a reference frequency signal. The on-time circuit provides an on-time signal according to a first reference signal and a second reference signal. The second reference signal is related to an output voltage of the power converter. The frequency tracking circuit is coupled to the reference frequency generating circuit and the on-time circuit, and compares frequencies of the reference frequency signal and the on-time signal within a default time to generate a tracking signal. The on-time circuit adjusts the second reference signal according to the tracking signal, so that the on-time circuit adjusts the frequency of the on-time signal.

Time signal generating circuit of power converter and control method thereof

The disclosure provides a power conversion circuit with a multi-function pin and a multi-function setting method thereof. The multi-function pin is coupled to an external setting circuit. The power conversion circuit includes a first function circuit, a second function circuit, and a judging circuit. The first function circuit is coupled to the multi-function pin. The second function circuit is coupled to the multi-function pin. The judging circuit is coupled to the multi-function pin, the first function circuit, and the second function circuit. The judging circuit provides a setting current to the multi-function pin, so that the external setting circuit generates a voltage according to the setting current. The judging circuit judges the type of external setting circuit according to voltage so as to activate the first function circuit or the second function circuit accordingly. The disclosure also provides a multi-function setting method in which the power conversion circuit automatically activates the corresponding function according to the type of external setting circuit.

Power conversion circuit with multi-functional pin and multi-function setting method thereof

A plus width modulation (PWM) signal generator is disclosed. The PWM signal generator includes a first signal generator providing a first signal, an output terminal, a first voltage generating circuit including connected to the first voltage generating circuit for providing a first present voltage according to the first signal, and a second voltage generating circuit connected to the first signal generator for providing a second present voltage according to the first signal. The first present voltage is earlier supplied to the output terminal than the second preset voltage, and after the first preset voltage continuously is provided for a period of preset time, the first voltage generating circuit stops providing the first preset voltage.

Pulse width modulation signal generator

A dc-dc controller is provided. The dc-dc controller includes a current sensing pin, a zero-current comparator, a comparison circuit and a threshold adjustment circuit. The current sensing pin is coupled to an output stage to receive a current sensing signal related to the output current. The zero-current comparator is coupled to the current sensing pin, and receives the current sensing signal and a first preset value to provide a zero-current signal. The comparison circuit is coupled to the zero-current comparator and the current sensing pin, and compares the current sensing signal with a second preset value to provide an adjustment signal. The threshold adjustment circuit is coupled to the comparison circuit and the zero-current comparator, and generates the first preset value according to the adjustment signal.

DC-DC controller with DCM control

A power conversion circuit includes an error amplifying circuit, a first comparison circuit, a second comparison circuit and a control circuit. The error amplifying circuit provides an output signal. The first comparison circuit, coupled to the error amplifying circuit, receives the output signal and a ramp signal to generate a first comparison signal. The second comparison circuit receives an output voltage and a first reference voltage and provides a second comparison signal. The control circuit, coupled to the error amplifying circuit, the first comparison circuit and the second comparison circuit, provides a control signal to control the error amplifying circuit according to the first comparison signal, the second comparison signal and an enabling signal. In a first operation mode of error amplifying circuit, the output signal is an error amplifying signal. In a second operation mode of error amplifying circuit, the output signal is a second reference voltage.

Power conversion circuit and operating method thereof

A DC-DC converting controller is disclosed. The DC-DC controller includes a current sensing unit, a parameter setting pin, a parameter setting unit and an error amplifier. The current sensing unit provides a sensing current. The parameter setting pin is coupled to an external parameter setting unit. The parameter setting unit is coupled to the current sensing unit and the parameter setting pin. The parameter setting unit has an internal parameter setting unit. The parameter setting unit generates a droop current according to the external parameter setting unit and the sensing current. The error amplifier includes a first input terminal and a second input terminal. The first input terminal receives an output feedback voltage and the second input terminal receives a first reference voltage. The second input terminal is coupled to a terminal of the internal parameter setting unit.

DC-DC converting controller

A pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller including an output pin, a temporary voltage generation circuit and a tri-state voltage generation circuit is disclosed. The temporary voltage generation circuit includes a voltage-dividing unit and a control unit. The voltage-dividing unit is coupled to the output pin and the control unit respectively. The control unit receives an enable signal and a PWM signal. The tri-state voltage generation circuit is coupled to the temporary voltage generation circuit and the output pin and receives the enable signal, the PWM signal and a tri-state input voltage. When the PWM controller is operated in a tri-state mode, the control unit controls the voltage-dividing unit to provide a temporary voltage to the output pin according to the enable signal and PWM signal, and then the tri-state voltage generation circuit provides a tri-state voltage to the output pin according to the enable signal and PWM signal.

Pulse-width modulation controller and tri-state voltage generation method

A dc-dc converting circuit and a method for controlling the same are provided. The dc-dc converting circuit includes an output stage, a mode detection circuit, a PWM signal generating circuit and a ramp signal generating circuit. The output stage provides an output voltage. The mode detection circuit provides a mode detection signal. The PWM generating circuit provides a time signal to the output stage. When the dc-dc converting circuit enters a continuous conduction mode from a discontinuous conduction mode, the ramp signal generating circuit provides a second ramp signal to the PWM signal generating circuit in a preset time according to the mode detection signal. The ramp signal generating circuit provides a first ramp signal to the PWM signal generating circuit after the preset time. A slope of the second ramp signal is greater than a slope of the first ramp signal.

Dc-dc converting circuit and method for controlling the same

A current mirror calibration circuit, coupled to an error amplifier of a pulse-width modulation controller, includes a first voltage generation unit, a second voltage generation unit, a calibration unit and a current mirror circuit. During an initial period, the first voltage generation unit and second voltage generation unit provide a first default voltage and a second default voltage respectively. The current mirror circuit includes a first current unit and a second current unit. The first current unit receives an original current. The second current unit generates a mirror current having a proportional relationship with original current. The first current unit has a first node coupled to the first voltage generation unit and a second node coupled to a third default voltage. The second current unit has a third node coupled to the second voltage generation unit and calibration unit and a fourth node coupled to calibration unit and an output terminal of error amplifier.

Current mirror calibration circuit and current mirror calibration method

A DC-DC converting controller coupled to an output stage and an external resistor network and providing a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) signal to control the output stage to provide an output voltage is disclosed. The DC-DC converting controller includes a sensing circuit, a droop current circuit, a first pin and a PWM signal control loop. The sensing circuit, coupled to the output stage, provides a sensing current. The droop current circuit, coupled to the sensing circuit, provides a droop current according to the sensing current. The first pin, coupled to the droop current circuit and external resistor network, provides the droop current to make the external resistor network provide a second reference voltage. The PWM signal control loop, coupled to the external resistor network, generates a PWM signal according to the output voltage and the second reference voltage. The droop current is reduced to a default value with a default time.

A DC-to-DC controller and a control method thereof are provided. The DC-to-DC controller couples to an output stage, and the output stage provides an output voltage and includes an upper bridge switch and a lower bridge switch. The DC-to-DC controller includes a time signal generating unit and a time signal control circuit. The time signal control circuit couples to the time signal generating unit and receives a preset voltage and the output voltage. During a soft start period, if the output voltage is lower than the preset voltage, after the upper bridge switch is turned off and before the upper bridge switch is turned on again, the time signal control circuit turns off the upper bridge switch and the lower bridge switch for a first preset time and turns on the lower bridge switch for a second preset time.
