An organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display may have an array of pixels that each have OLED layers interposed between a cathode and an anode. The display may also include a planarization layer that is deposited using inkjet printing. To mitigate the need for dam structures to prevent overflow of the planarization layer during inkjet printing, capillary-flow-inducing structures may be included in the inactive area of the display. The topology of the capillary-flow-inducing structures may be propagated to a passivation layer such that an upper surface of the passivation layer has a similar topology as the capillary-flow-inducing structures. The planarization layer therefore undergoes capillary flow when deposited on the upper surface of the passivation layer. The capillary-flow-inducing structures may be formed from dots, rectangular strips, or trapezoidal strips. The capillary-flow-inducing structures may be formed from the same material as spacers in the active area or using another layer in the display.

Organic light-emitting diode displays with capillary-flow-inducing structures

A display may have an array of pixels formed from organic light-emitting diodes and thin-film transistor circuitry. Each pixel may include organic layers interposed between an anode and a cathode. The organic layers may emit out-coupled light that escapes the display and waveguided light that is waveguided within the organic layers. A reflector may be placed at the edge of the organic layers to reflect the waveguided light out of the display. The reflector may be located within a pixel definition layer and may be formed from metal or may be formed from one or more interfaces between high-refractive-index material and low-refractive-index material. The reflector may be formed from an extended portion of the pixel anode. The reflector may be formed from light-reflecting particles that are suspended in the pixel definition layer.

Organic light-emitting diode displays with reflectors

Micro LED and microdriver chip integration schemes are described. In an embodiment a microdriver chip includes a plurality of trenches formed in a bottom surface of the microdriver chip, with each trench surrounding a conductive stud extending below a bottom surface of the microdriver chip body. Integration schemes are additionally described for providing electrical connection to conductive terminal contacts and micro LEDs bonded to a display substrate and adjacent to a microdriver chip.

Backplane structure and process for microdriver and micro LED

A fabricating method of an organic light emitting device is provided. First to fourth lower pixel electrodes are respectively formed in first to fourth pixel regions of a substrate. By ink-jet printing processes, an interlayer is formed on the first to fourth lower pixel electrodes, and first to third color patterns are respectively formed on the interlayer in the first to third pixel regions. A fourth color layer is formed to cover the first to third color patterns and the interlayer in the fourth pixel region. Colors of the first to third color patterns and the fourth color layer are different. An upper pixel electrode is formed on the fourth color layer. A color filter arranging over the upper pixel electrode filters out a first color light, a second color light, light of third and fourth colors, and the fourth color light corresponding to the first to fourth pixel regions.

Organic light emitting device and fabricating method thereof

A display panel includes a substrate, a plurality of bottom electrodes, an isolation layer, a plurality of light emitting layers, a top electrode, and at least one first auxiliary electrode. The bottom electrodes and the isolation layer are disposed on the substrate. The isolation layer has a plurality of pixel region openings and at least one buffer region. Each of the pixel region openings respectively exposes the corresponding bottom electrode. The buffer region is disposed between two adjacent pixel region openings. The light emitting layers are respectively disposed on the corresponding bottom electrodes. The top electrode covers the light emitting layers, the isolation layer, and the buffer region. The first auxiliary electrode is disposed in the buffer region.
