A backlight module, a liquid crystal display using the backlight module, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. The backlight module includes a bottom plate, a plurality of light source sets and at least one partition wall. A plurality of lighting areas is formed on the bottom plate and light source sets are disposed on the lighting areas, respectively. The partition wall is disposed on the bottom plate and between each two adjacent lighting areas to fully or partially block/reflect the light emitted from the lighting areas. The partition wall includes a first light-penetrable wall and a light reflective layer formed on a wall surface of first light-penetrable wall. The light reflective layer is erected on the bottom plate through the support provided by the first light-penetrable wall and its wall surface.

LCD device, backlight module thereof with partition wall and method for manufacturing the same

A light guide plate for a liquid crystal display is disclosed. The light guide plate is adapted for use in a side-light emission type of backlight module. The light guide plate comprises a light incidence face that has at least one surface having at least one annular protrusion or recess, thereby enhancing the capability of light diffusion, uniformity of the light distribution, as well as promoting brightness.

A backlight unit usable in an LCD for dynamically expanding color gamut of the LCD. In one embodiment, the backlight unit has a plurality of light emitting elements, and a control unit electrically coupled with the plurality of light emitting elements for controlling intensity of light emitting from each of the plurality of light emitting elements in response to a frame of image data applied to the plurality of pixels, wherein the control unit is configured such that when the frame of image data applied to the plurality of pixels is in a red color, a green color, or a blue color, the intensity of light from the red color, the green color, or the blue color emitting from each of the plurality of light emitting elements is adjusted to its corresponding maximal value so as to expand the red, the green, or the blue area of the color gamut of the LCD panel accordingly.

Dynamic color gamut of LED backlight

A backlight module unit and a backlight module are provided. The backlight module unit includes a first light source, a second light source, and an optical barrier. A light source interval is defined between the first light source and the second light source, while a barrier interval is defined between the optical barrier and the second light source. Because the barrier interval is substantially shorter than a half of the light source interval, the backlight module unit mixes the light evenly, and prevents the dark bands from forming due to the disposition of the optical barrier. Thereby, the backlight module that comprises the plural aforesaid backlight units will have no dark bands, mix light evenly, and be thin overall.

A backlight source has different luminescence types of electroluminescence devices and coordinates at least one of the arrangement positions and the arrangement spacing of the electroluminescence devices to improve the brightness uniformity of the backlight source and make the mixed light better. Moreover, because of the brightness uniformity promotion, the overall thickness of backlight module can be reduced.

A diffusion plate of a backlight structure and a display device using the same are provided. The diffusion plate is used in the backlight structure having several light emitting diodes. The diffusion plate includes a main body with many depression structures positioned on a surface of the main body. The surface faces the light emitting diodes. Each depression structure is positioned above the corresponding light emitting diode and includes an inclined surface. An inclined angle is formed between each inclined surface and a central axis of the corresponding light emitting diode for refracting the light emitted by the corresponding light emitting diode.

Diffusion plate of backlight structure and display device using the same

A back-light source comprises a plurality of light-emitting devices, each light-emitting device having a light-emitting package and a lens surface. In at least some of the light emitting devices, the radius of curvature in one direction of the lens surface is different from the radius of curvature in another direction such that one of the radii of curvature of the lens is greater than the other radius of curvature. In particular, one radius of curvature is equal to or smaller than half the length of the device. The other radius of curvature is equal to or greater than half the length of the device. As such, the lens has different focal lengths in different directions. The light-emitting package can have a plurality of light-emitting sources of a single color or of different colors.

A light-emitting unit includes a bounding frame, a first light-emitting element, a second light-emitting element, and a first reflecting sheet. The first light-emitting element and the second light-emitting element are disposed in the bounding frame, and emit light in different directions. The first reflecting sheet is disposed on the bounding frame, and has a reflecting surface on one side away from the bounding frame.

A light guide plate structure, for use with a back light module of a liquid crystal display, has a top surface, a bottom surface, a first end portion, a second end portion which is opposite the first end portion, and a plurality of substantially paralleled V-shape grooves formed on the bottom surface and extending from the first end portion to the second end portion. Each of said V-shape grooves comprises a top angle with a continuous variation from the first end portion to the second end portion. The present invention gets rid of the dark areas of an LCD that appear adjacent to one of the end portions in conventional models, thus enhancing the uniformity in its brightness levels.

A light source for a backlight unit is disclosed. The light source includes a plurality of light emitting diode modules arranged in a manner corresponding to an array, in which each of the light emitting diode modules includes a plurality of light emitting diodes. The array includes a plurality of columns and rows. Preferably, the light emitting diodes of the light emitting diode module of any two adjacent columns are arranged in a different manner, and the light emitting diodes of the light emitting diode module of any two adjacent rows are arranged in a different manner.

A backlight module includes a light source, a light guide disposed on one side of the light source, a reflector disposed under the light guide, a lower diffuser disposed on the light guide, and a brightness enhancement film, which is disposed on the lower diffuser and includes a main part and several prism structures disposed side by side on a main part plane of the main part. Each prism structure includes first to third triangular prisms. The second triangular prism is adjacent to one side of the first triangular prism, and an adjacent angle adjacent to a base angle of the first triangular prism is a right angle. The third triangular prism is adjacent to another side of the first triangular prism, and an adjacent angle adjacent to another base angle of the first triangular prism is a right angle.

A backlight module including a diffuser, a reflector, a side light source, a prism lens and a TIR (total internal reflection) lens is disclosed. The reflector is disposed under the diffuser. The side light source is disposed on a side between the diffuser and the reflector. The prism lens is disposed between the side light source and the reflector. The TIR lens is disposed on a bottom of the diffuser and adjacent to the side light source.
