To efficiently support location services, a base station receives an uplink (UL) message from a user equipment (UE) (). The base station determines whether the UL message includes a positioning protocol message associated with a positioning protocol for exchanging information related to a location service (). In a first instance, in response to determining that the UL message includes the positioning protocol message, the base station sends the positioning protocol message to a local entity that implements a location service (). In a second instance, in response to determining that the message does not include any positioning protocol messages, the base station sends at least some of the data included in the UL message to a remote node ().

Supporting location services at a base station

To manage a preferred configuration indicative of a maximum allocation preferred by the UE for at least one resource, a UE transmits (A) the preferred configuration to a RAN, transitions (A) to a state in which a radio connection between the UE and the RAN is suspended, and releases (A) the preferred configuration, prior to communicating data over the radio connection.

Managing a ue preferred configuration

To obtain control channel information from a base station that communicates with the user device via a shared carrier, a user device monitors () a control channel on the shared carrier according to a pre-transmission pattern of control channel occasions. While monitoring the control channel using the pre-transmission pattern, the user device receives () from the base station, via the shared carrier, a signal indicating a transmission time during which the shared carrier is available to the base station. In response to receiving the signal, the base station monitors (), during the transmission time, the control channel on the shared carrier according to a transmission pattern of control channel occasions that is different than the pre-transmission pattern but includes at least one control channel occasion that overlaps a control channel occasion of the pre-transmission pattern.

Secondary cell group failure in dual connectivity

A user device capable of receiving a full configuration related to a radio connection to a base station and a delta configuration which the user device can apply to a first configuration received previously (i) receives, from the base station while the user device is operating in a cell covered by the base station using the first configuration, the full configuration providing information for user device operation within a candidate cell (), (ii) determines whether a set of one or more conditions associated with the full configuration to the candidate cell is satisfied (), and (iii) connects to the candidate cell using the full configuration if the user device determines that the set of conditions is satisfied ().

Conditional full configuration and conditional delta configuration

A user equipment (UE) can implement a method for managing mobility. The method includes operating in dual connectivity (DC) with a master node (MN) via a primary cell and a secondary node (SN) via a primary secondary cell, the MN and the SN operating in a radio access network (RAN) (). The method further includes receiving, from the RAN, a conditional configuration related to a candidate primary secondary cell, the conditional configuration associated with a condition to be satisfied before the UE applies the conditional configuration during a conditional procedure (). The method also includes detecting a secondary cell group (SCG) failure. Still further, the method includes, in response to the detecting, suspending the conditional procedure.

Managing conditional configuration when a secondary cell is unavailable

A radio access network (RAN) for enabling execution of a dual active protocol stack (DAPS) procedure at a UE determines that the UE is to release at least one cell via which the UE communicates with the RAN, prior to executing the DAPS procedure (), causes the UE to release the at least one cell (), and transmits a command to the UE to execute the DAPS procedure ().

Dual active protocol stack operation for handover and PSCell change

A radio access network (RAN) for configuring a user equipment (UE) transmits, to the UE, (i) a conditional configuration related to a base station operating in the RAN, and (ii) a condition to be satisfied before the UE applies the conditional configuration during a conditional procedure (), determines subsequently to the transmitting, that the UE is to perform an immediate procedure related to the RAN (), and provides, to the UE, an indication that the UE is to release the conditional configuration ().

Configuration handling at a user device

A central unit (CU) of a distributed base station for configuring a dual active protocol stack (DAPS) procedure at a UE communicating with the distributed base station via a source distributed unit (DU) (i) determines () that the UE is to perform the DAPS procedure in order to disconnect from the source DU and connect to a target DU; and (ii) transmits (), to the source DU, an indication that the source DU is to continue communicating with the UE during the DAPS procedure.

A method for reducing transmission delays, implemented in a communication device, includes starting () a first timer. An expiration () of the first timer corresponds to a desired transmission time for a first message. The method also includes, before the expiration of the first timer, starting () a first channel access procedure of one or more channel access procedures, and determining (), using the one or more channel access procedures, whether a shared carrier is available for transmission after the expiration of the first timer. The method also includes, based on whether the shared carrier is available for transmission after the expiration of the first timer (), either transmitting () or not transmitting () the first message to another communication device via the shared carrier.

System and method for reducing delays of timer-based transmissions on a shared carrier

Granting access to a communication channel for several user devices by a base station includes receiving, from at least a first and second user device, at least a first request to access the communication channel and a second request to access the communication channel (), the first request including a first random access preamble and a first payload, and the second request including a second random access preamble and a second payload, and transmitting, to at least the first and second user devices, a response message including at least a first control channel resource assignment configuring at least a first control channel resource for the at least the first user device to transmit an acknowledgement of the response message ().

Accessing a communication channel by multiple user devices at the same time

To manage configuration, a UE receives, by processing hardware and from a radio access network (RAN), conditional configuration information including (i) a conditional configuration related to a base station operating in the RAN, and (ii) a condition to be satisfied before the UE applies the configuration (). The UE receives, by the processing hardware and from the RAN, a message including an indication that the UE is to add, modify, or release a radio bearer (RB) (), and determines, by the processing hardware, to ignore the conditional configuration in response to receiving the message ().

Managing a conditional configuration upon addition or release of a bearer

Allocating resources to user devices in a base station includes transmitting, to a user device, indications of a first time-frequency resource including a first frequency sub-band within a bandwidth part allocated in an unlicensed spectrum and a second time-frequency resource including a second frequency sub-band within the bandwidth part, performing a channel access procedure on the first channel corresponding to the first frequency sub-band, and a second channel corresponding to the second frequency sub-band, to obtain channel occupancy time on at least one of the first channel or the second channel; and transmitting, within the obtained channel occupancy time on at least one of the first channel or the second channel, downlink control information to a user device over a first time-frequency resource that includes the first frequency sub-band or a second time-frequency resource that includes the second frequency sub-band.

Resource allocation in unlicensed bandwidth part

A UE communicating in DC with an MN and an SN receives a configuration related to a C-SN and at least one condition for connecting to the C-SN, determines that a radio connection between the UE and the MN has failed, and transmits a first indication of the failed radio connection to the SN to initiate a recovery procedure. The UE also releases the configuration and/or the at least one condition, or suspending a procedure, for connecting to the C-SN\.
